Facebook + mywot.com = BAD NEWS!!
Has anyone else got this?
Alternatively, your website may have been flagged as compromised by Web of Trust. To find more about this partnership, including information about how to restore your website's reputation, please visit: http://www.mywot.com
this is new to me.....but man.....this is bound to get exploited in a bad way....
eg....bad mouth a competior poorly rank their site....bam no more competition
comments, thoughts? is this not new and have I been away from Fb too long?
***edit***
answered my own post
https://www.facebook.com/notes/faceb...50174826745766
ok after answering my own question I dug deeper.....look at these
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/true.com#page-2
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/areyouinterested.com
try it yourself....I imagine they retro-check stuff now via this.....so if your account disappears prob a rating changed and you didn't know it.....even to your own sites
anyways be aware!!!

yeah noticed this on a few of my campaigns too.. (of course after they were approved and had spent a fair amount of money grrrrr) simple PHP redirect fixed it for me i think they banned the URL of the affiliate network I was running (was DLing an offer with a straight aff. link)

I had mine going thru a redirect...it was the advertisers page that was the issue for me.....

Does FB notify you if your destination URL is getting blocked?

What really annoys me is sometimes they don't disapprove the ads and you don't have ANY indication of the sites being blocked or it was something fine to begin with that then ended up with a bad WOT rating, I'll check one ad in the campaign if there's little to no conversions at all and find the sites blocked. What's worse is the first 1-2 times you click preview link, it still goes through as normal but usually by the 3rd or 4th click, it'll go to the "Sorry
The link you are trying to visit has been reported as abusive by Facebook users. To learn more about staying safe on the internet, visit Facebook's Security Page. Please also read the Wikipedia articles on malware and phishing." page.
Make sure you click preview link a few times on ads that you think might be running into that problem.

Don't think that you can use it to kill your competition on your own.
From their FAQ:
Can a site's reputation be manipulated?
When someone first hears about the concept behind WOT, their first objection is that someone could easily spam the system with tons of ratings and rate down their competitors or otherwise manipulate reputations, but that's not true. In order to keep ratings more reliable, the system tracks each user's rating behavior before deciding how much it trusts the user. WOT applies sophisticated algorithms to detect and eliminate any manipulation of reputation.

No this is really bad. I don't know WHY this is allowed.
Can't WOT be in trouble for harming brands? They've certainly hurt mine ... think about it ... this supposedly trusting site says you are a potential spammer, malware, or otherwise abusive. And ANYONE can rate it, whether they've bought your products, dealt with you or not. It's ridiculous.
There has got to be a way to opt out.

Ya I read alot of the comments people make....most are fucking stupid and the offers are legit people don't read shit then blame the advertiser for their ignorance......
I wont sweat it normally but the fact that the biggest site in the world has adopted them (facebook) and basically put there stamp of approval on it is total BS.....
there is no algorithm that cant stop abuse.... curtail it maybe.... but stop it no....
God I hope someone sues the hell out of these guys at some point....there is no place for shit like this on the internet......liking, +1, digg, etc have there place because its a soical score and they state nothing by it it just means people like it....but to state that a website lacks "trust" based upon a social score is about the worst thing and is basically guilty till proven innocent......
if I had a few million to blow i would manipulate the hell out their crap...then come back and sue them for slander etc.....I have no idea how they get away with what they do......

You could always give them a taste of their own medicine by rating their own site negatively (mywot.com).

damn thats really bad news..i'm running a campaign right now that got approved wothout problems a few days ago..but the landingpage got a very poor wot rating..should i consider to stop the campaign to prevent loosing my account over this?
update: i checked some tracking links of cpa networks on mywot.com and found out that all EWA (tracklead.net) and Neverblue (jxliu.com) affiliate links are flagged too..crazy shit!
update2: my ad got retro dissaproved and i got the same message:
"Alternatively, your website may have been flagged as compromised by Web of Trust. To find more about this partnership, including information about how to restore your website's reputation, please visit: http://www.mywot.com"
i really start to HATE wot..is was an absolutely legit offer/lp..that's just crazy

Wait how does that actually work? Only when your direct linking im assuming right? once the person is on your lander, they cant get a notification after clicking the outbound link right? Also cant you direct link with a redirect and pretty much bypass this? no biggie for me it seems..

It is a biggie its not the redirect its the end link....hence why alot of people got hit with true.com......
I send most things thru a redirect......even to an international offers and I have got this......
Ya the only way to avoid it is to not direct link.......or cloak

Just buy a new domain to use as your landing page, or redirect page, and recreate the campaign on FB.
But yes, it is pretty shitty you'd need to do this in the first place

As much as I pretty much never read Volk's blog, I know Jonathan Volk posted on his blog sometime recently about one of his e-commerce sites or something being given a bad rating on mywot and now his blog is blocked on FB too.

just had 80% ads approved and 20% dissed because I have 8 marks against me because I use P202 (this is the MASS marking I was talking about)
I have also seen my CTR and conversions go down dramatically for those ads or tracking or offers that have a RED WOT. Like 30%-70% decline compared to what they have been for months.
so, WOT is defiantly being used by FB to decided what is OK or not AND affecting user experience with ads and links negatively.
Im going to get my own tracking coded since P202, CPVlabs, and many others are 'contaminated' as well as some traffic sources
and now we got traffic platforms 'blindly following' the reviews of something you cant affect.
oh well
ADAPT, ADOPT & IMPROVE!

Are there any tools to monitor your sites on mywot.com?
If not, I'm thinking it might be wise to setup a script that will periodically check all offer domains, landing page domains, etc... and alert me if the reputation drops too low on any of the sites.
They have an API that programmers can use so I just whipped up some quick code to test it out. This requires that you installed PHP with libxml support but I think it's enabled by default.
Here's the code:
[PHP]<pre>
<?php
$site='true.com';
$xml = simplexml_load_file("http://api.mywot.com/0.4/public_query2?target=$site");
if ($xml === false) {
die('error parsing XML');
}
echo "<b>Site: </b>$site\n\n";
echo '<b>Trustworthiness: </b>';
echo 'Reputation: ' . $xml->application[0]['r'] . ', ';
echo 'Confidence: ' . $xml->application[0]['c']. "\n";
echo '<b>Vendor Reliability: </b>';
echo 'Reputation: ' . $xml->application[1]['r'] . ', ';
echo 'Confidence: ' . $xml->application[1]['c']. "\n";
echo '<b>Privacy: </b>';
echo 'Reputation: ' . $xml->application[2]['r'] . ', ';
echo 'Confidence: ' . $xml->application[2]['c']. "\n";
echo '<b>Child Safety: </b>';
echo 'Reputation: ' . $xml->application[3]['r'] . ', ';
echo 'Confidence: ' . $xml->application[3]['c']. "\n";
?>
</pre>
[/PHP]
and here's what the output of the above code looks like:
Code:
Site: true.com
Trustworthiness: Reputation: 37, Confidence: 36
Vendor Reliability: Reputation: 37, Confidence: 36
Privacy: Reputation: 35, Confidence: 36
Child Safety: Reputation: 14, Confidence: 46

Ok, I feel like a dummy for asking (because everyone seems to be so comfortable with coding like this) ... but ... how can this help?
From my understanding:
1. you have an ad approved on FB
2. If your site gets a bad MYWOT rating -- it's gonna mess up that already approved ad
3. It's not like you can go back in and change the destination URL of your ad? (And we all know that you could duplicate the ad/campaign to your new non MYWOT slapped URL but there's nothing saying it will perform the same CTR/CPC/CNV)
4. So how does this help?

it just makes it easy for you to monitor the stuff your running on fb.....and keep track of your sites and such....
and as far as changing the destination of your ad.....you do that thru your tracking....
but what I suggest is you just delete the ads....

The code I posted is more proof-of-concept than something that you can use right now.
I would probably set something up where I have all of my domains in a text file. Then I'd have a scheduled task run once daily that will check the MyWOT status of all the domains. If the MyWOT reputation score dropped into Unsatisfactory, Poor, or Very Poor status, I would fire off an email alert to myself. From there I can decide what action to take on any low-reputation sites.
One thing I'd be cautious of is doing bulk lookups on a lot of domains. If someone at MyWOT figured out what was going on, they'd be able to match my IP to all of the domains I own since they're seeing all of my domains when I do the bulk query. Maybe using proxies for the lookups or evenly distributing the lookups over a regular interval would be better. I don't know if they have any kind of rate-limiting or threshold after which they'll prevent me from doing lookups either.
I was just tossing the idea out there as a way to adapt if MyWOT starts becoming a real problem for people.

Just read this blog post ->
http://www.affhelper.com/mywot-reviews-exposed/
Dunno if you've all seen it before but it sure does explain things. BTW, stmforum.com is rated all in the red and with decent confidence too. Funny how an affiliate marketing blog site has low child safety and vendor reliability. Given who would be visiting the site and would consequently rate it, it's pretty obvious the ratings have been cheated - anticompetitive practices much?
I can't wait for MyWOT to get a class action lawsuit against it. Before they start monetising on their demographic/user info.

Alexa appears all green on MyWoT to me? Sure you're looking at the right domain?
Alexa/Quantcast/Compete.com all have bullshit comments in there though, about malware infecting computers and things, bad customer experiences and incorrect data. I don't think MyWOT is the place to comment on the price of a service or how reliable their demographic/statistical information is. I can understand the alexa toolbar being considered malware, but it's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain what the purpose of it is.

Hmmmm, something changed. I just checked and its GREEN now for me too.
Interesting
... AND a few moments later I get the nice 'black blocking and WARNING' screen from WOT asking me if I want to go to the site or not ?!
EVEN MORE interesting
