Awesome, we're currently in the middle of putting something like this together on a bigger and more organized scale. COMING SOON

What do you guys think of a target source like reddit for browser/download games? I know they don't have the best targeting, but maybe they users convert better on there?

05-14-2014 07:03 AM #7 zeno (Administrator)

What's their minimum? I would just test and don't tell anyone if it works well ;D

05-14-2014 08:22 AM #8 volkad (Member)

Their min is $5.00, and they charge around 70 cents per 1,000 impressions. I guess I'll test it out this weekend, and see for myself.

Reddit has absolutely phenomenal targeting - just target the relevant subreddit for the thing you're interested in pushing. There's a subreddit for absolutely any interest you can think of, from makeup to MMPORGs.

However, check their terms carefully. I seem to recall they prohibit redirects., which will make your tracking considerably more of a pain in the arse.

05-14-2014 11:28 AM #10 thepeopleschamp (Member)

I remember i read a while ago there was some scandal on /r/trees (stoner subreddit) where some mod had used affiliate links in the ads and posts promoting weed related products (bongs, pipes etc). Everybody lost their shit! Also read some AMA-thread there with an affiliate marketer and he got downvoted to hell :<

I'd be careful pushing scammy stuff on reddit, but i can imagine Teespring campaigns targeted to relevant subreddits could do well.

05-14-2014 12:25 PM #11 caurmen (Administrator)

I've seen other IAMAs with affiliates that got some significant upvotes, so it all depends.

But yeah, I would be very careful promoting anything even vaguely blackhat. Games, T-Shirts, stuff like that - don't get any shadier.

05-15-2014 05:06 AM #12 zeno (Administrator)

Yes, Reddit users are in general likely to be much more cynical and savvy that the average, so advertising dodgy things will probably get called out.

They may even make a sub-reddit for 'Ads we don't like' and rant in there.

Still working on this, it's in its early stages but we're not just throwing a list together. We're working on something bigger!

Stackman any update on updated list for traffic sources etc ? I may have overlooked it also... Thanks man

09-05-2014 04:12 AM #16 stackman (Administrator)

To be honest, it's still quite a bit away. We're trying to do something better than just a text list. Something that will cater to the ever changing affiliate/traffic landscape. I can't give any times on it yet.
