$1 Guide - Step 3: Set Up Campaign on PopAds
EDIT 20-Nov-20:
Offer no longer works on IOS - only Android+chrome.
Can also target desktop+chrome.
1. Log into PopAds from https://www.popads.net/users/login or
https://www.popads.net/.
2. In the left menu scroll down to the “Account Manager” section and click on “Billing”.

3. Click on “DEPOSIT”.

4. Enter “10” as the “Amount”. Choose the type of payment you wish to make (the most common being Paypal or Credit Card). Checkmark the “I agree with these rules” box. Click “Proceed”. Provide additional payment information to complete the payment transaction.

5. When the payment has gone through, you should see the $10 appear in the “Balance” stat at the top of the screen:

(Please note that your screen will look a bit different from mine – new users usually don’t have postpay available – it’s a VIP-level privilege. To reach VIP status, spend at least $10-15k on this platform. Ultimately though it would be up to PopAds to decide whether to grant VIP status or not.)
Once the payment has gone through, you can proceed to the next step.
6. In the left menu, under “Advertiser’s Panel” click on “New Campaign”.

7. Next, we’ll need to fill everything out to create our 1st campaign!
“GENERAL INFORMATION” SECTION:
For “Name”, put “052619 Mobipium Push Smartlink Multi-Geo”. (052619 is the current day’s date in MMDDYY format. You can put the current date when you’re reading this. It’s a habit of mine – helps me keep track.)
Leave “Single URL” selected.
For “URL”, paste the modified offer url you’ve saved earlier.
Leave “Enable landing page prefetching” unselected.
Leave “Quality” set to “All websites”.
Leave “Frequency cap” set to “1 view / 24 hours”.
For “After approval” select “Pause”.
Leave “Prime Spot” set to “All traffic”.
Leave “The landing page contains adult content” unselected.
Leave “Referrer” set to “Standard”.
Leave “Adblock” set to “All traffic”.
Leave “Adv. Type” set to “Popunder”.
Leave “Allow other methods when the chosen one is not available” checked.

"BUDGETS” SECTION:
(Note: You need to click on the “Budgets” heading to expand the section. Same goes for all other sections.)
Leave “1 Smart Bid” selected (highlighted in green).
For “Max Bid”, enter a random number between 0.0001 and 0.0004, inclusive. MAKE SURE YOU DON’T TYPE ONE FEWER ZERO BY ACCIDENT!! Or else you’d be spending 10 times as much to acquire every visitor, and your budget would run out in no time!
For “Daily budget” put “3”.
For “Budget” put “3”.

“THROTTLING” SECTION:
Leave at “1 Disabled”.

“CATEGORIES” SECTION:
In the “Available Choices” list, scroll down to “253. General”, click on it to select, make sure “Automatically include descendant (children) categories” is selected, then click on “Add >>” to add all General categories.

The push smartlink we’re promoting actually accepts both adult and non-adult (a.k.a. “General” aka “Mainstream”) traffic – meaning traffic from both adult and non-adult websites. However, based on my testing, general/mainstream/non-adult traffic converts better. So I’m helping you save some money here by only buying general traffic.
“COUNTRY TARGETING” SECTION:
Remember that “CPM by Geos” list you got from your AM? Select all of those geos here!
You know the drill: To add a geo, click on that geo in the “Available choices” list and click “Add >>” to add it to the box on the right. Do this for all the geos on the “CPM by Geos” list.

“SOCIETY TARGETING” SECTION:
Leave both “Languages” and “Populations” at default (i.e. allow all).

“ENVIRONMENT TARGETING” SECTION:
For “Operating Systems” click to select "Android" and click "Add" to add all android OSs.
For “Browsers”, scroll down to “Google Chrome”, click on it, and click “Add>>” to add all versions of the Google Chrome browser to the box on the right. The push smartlink offer we're promoting only accepts traffic from the chrome browser. Leave “Screen Resolutions” at default to allow all.

“DEVICE TARGETING” SECTION:
For “Form Factors”, select “Smartphone” and “Add>>”, then select “Tablet” and “Add>>”. (The offer actually accepts traffic from both mobile and desktop devices, but based on my stats, mobile converts better than desktop.)
Leave “Devices” at default to allow all.

“CONNECTION TARGETING” SECTION:
Leave “ISP/Carrier” highlighted (green).
Leave both “Connection types” and “Connection speeds” at default to allow all.

“TIME TARGETING” SECTION:
Leave all check boxes checked so that traffic will run continuously 24/7.
For Timezone, select the timezone you’re in so that the stats will be shown in your timezone.

“WEBSITE TARGETING” SECTION:
Leave “Disabled” highlighted (green).

“ADSCORE TRAFFIC VALIDATION” SECTION:
Leave “Valid Traffic” at “Allow”.
Leave “Proxy Traffic” at “Block”.
Leave “Junk Traffic” at “Block”.
Leave “Bot Traffic” at “Block”.

No need to click into the “Summary” section – although you can if you want to see an estimate of how much daily traffic you can expect to get.
LASTLY, CLICK “CREATE CAMPAIGN”.
8. In the next screen, you’ll be shown a summary of your Campaign Info. On the right side you’ll see some buttons – click on “Pixels and Postback”.

9. Copy the url in the “Postback” field. Paste it into a text editor.
Then you’ll need to make 2 edits to that url.
Replace “impressionID” with “{tid}”.
Replace “conversionValue” with “{pay}”.
Your final url will be in this format:
http://serve.popads.net/cpixel.php?s2s=1&aid=abunchoflettersandnumbers&id= {tid}&value={pay}
(Again, please DO NOT USE my url above – it’s just an example to show you what the format should be like. Your specific link from your PopAds account will be different!)

10. Log back into your Mobipium account. In the left menu scroll down and click on “Pixel”.

11. Paste the modified postback url from PopAds into “Please provide your callback URL here:”. Then click “Update”.
For the field below where it says “Please provide your unique tracker parameters…”, put “tid, pay”. Then click “Update”. (PLEASE DON'T MISS THIS STEP - a LOT of people have somehow!

12. Just to be safe: Wait an hour for the postback on Mobipium to come into effect.
You won’t need to do anything in the meantime. Just wait.
(Usually it only takes 5-10 minutes for the postback to update in their system, but we want to be safe, because as you’ll see later on, without seeing conversions in PopAds data, we won’t be able to tell which geos are profitable.)
13. After waiting an hour, log back into PopAds, click on “Campaigns” in the left menu.

You’ll see your new campaign listed.

Now that we’ve set up the postback on Mobipium, we can activate the campaign. Click on the sandwich after your campaign name to bring up the menu, and click "Start".

When you see a pop up that says “Are you sure you want to start this?” click “OK”.

14. You’ll need to wait for a reviewer at PopAds to review your campaign and approve it, before you’ll start getting traffic. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours for your campaign to get approved. (I don’t remember how long it took before my account was made VIP - for VIP accounts all campaigns are instantly and automatically approved.)
To see an example of what a "Pending Review" campaign looks like - please see this post:
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post409633
However, if you’ve already waited an hour for the postback to come into effect, your campaign may already be approved by this time.
When your campaign is approved, you’ll see this in your campaign status:

15. Wait until your initial budget of $3 runs out. When it does, you’ll see a negative value in the “Budget” column, and the status will say “Out of Budget”.

You only need to put one postback per traffic network, no matter which Mobipium offers you run on that popads account.
However, if you want to run traffic on another traffic network, then you will need to put that network's postback in Mobipium.
And if you need to run traffic from more than one traffic source at the same time, you will need to either 1)open multiple Mobipium accounts, and use one for each traffic network, or 2)use a tracker. If you're ready to use a tracker, try
Binom - because if you want to continue to promote the push notification smartlink, you will generate a lot of traffic, and
Binom is the most cost efficient tracker I know (and one of the best).
Hope that makes sense! Please feel free to ask further questions.

You have to wait until PopAds team reviews your campaign and approve it.
It is always the case in the traffic sources - campigns must be reviewed to ensure complience with the policies.
Once it’s approved you will start getting traffic (visits)

Exactly! Thanks @
plutus!
But the question makes a good point: I should add that as a step - since it's a "step-by-step guide".
EDIT: Turns out I DID include that as Step 14:
But I've added a link to @
muradix_stm2020's post above anyway, just to make it crystal clear what the "pending review" campaign status looks like.
Thank you both!

Did you fill in the "tid, pay" values in Mobipium? Somehow a lot of people miss that step!
Also: Have you made any conversions, i.e. are you able to see them on your Mobipium dashboard?
If you answered "yes" to both questions above, then let's do some troubleshooting. Please show me the following info (you can PM them to me if you don't want everyone to see the links - but please update this thread by telling me you've PM'ed - otherwise I don't normally check PMs):
1)The conversion postback url you copied from PopAds.
2)The revised postback url you pasted into Mobipium.
Lastly: Can you please check your stats one more time to make sure the conversions are still not there? Sometimes there can be a bit of delay between when you make a conversion, and the postback being triggered to post that conversion back to PopAds. Shouldn't be more than 15 minutes though.

I have the same issue (following the tutorial for PopAds/Mobipium) and it's been a day or so without seeing any conversions through PopAds. Everything looks fine in Mobipium i.e. URL plus variable config.
I opened a support case with PopAds and the response wasn't particularly helpful - I asked them to verify the postback URL was being queried at all and the response was "try re-implementing conversion tracking".
I don't see an issue with my URL and I've seen a number of people reporting the same issue in this forum so I'll post my resolution for future newbies.
@vortex as in your post above I've PMed you the details to check - hope you don't mind

Hi there! The links in your PM are correct. Have you verified you've included &tid=[IMPRESSIONID] at the end of your offer link that you're putting into PopAds as the destination link?
If that doesn't solve the issue please let me know.
BTW: PopAds support isn't responsible for checking your tracking links. You were lucky to get a reply IMO.

You are completely correct, this was the issue. I must have checked everything 20 times but somehow this didn't register as incorrect.
Many thanks for the quick response - and for this guide existing at all
Regarding PopAds support, I didn't really expect to find victory from first line support but it's always worth asking. I understand my place in the universe as a minor character

Haha don't worry about it! I've been made a fool by stuff like that many, many times. I'm glad we've identified the problem.
As for being a minor character in the universe - aw - I hope you don't actually believe that! I know this isn't the place to get too much into personal beliefs or religion, but spirituality is a big part of my life, and based on what I know, each one of us is a part of or extension of God or the universe.
(And when I say God I'm not referring to anything religion-specific - I'm referring to the one energy we're all a part of. )
We're all equally important and have our respective roles to play. And if you believe in reincarnation and could only see the numerous lifetimes that have taken you to evolve to your current level of consciousness, I bet you'd appreciate yourself so much more.
Also, earth is an incredibly popular place for souls to reincarnate into in order to learn life lessons - there are long queues and we got picked! If that doesn't make you feel special, I don't know what will.
Please ignore my rant and accept my apologies if none of what I said above resonates with your beliefs. I never 'force' my beliefs on anyone - but was merely following my own spiritual guidance to reply to your comment instead of dismissing or ignoring it.
Have an incredible rest of the week! And feel free to ask any other questions you may have!

The 1$ guide is voluntarily simplified to give people a taste of how affiliate marketing works, without overcomplicating it. For a complete setup including tracker, look at the 40-day guide.

At the time I wrote this, yes, but maybe not on popads alone (as popad's traffic volumes are pretty low). Don't know about now (it's been a while!)
You can surely try!
And while you're trying - running really low-payout offers like these can be a great way to identify good vs. bad placements. Then, when you run higher-payout offers, you can start with the bad placements already blacklisted, thereby saving some money.
Just be careful about running these offers on other pop traffic networks - PropellerAds for example does not allow direct-linking to this type of offers, the SOLE aim of which is to collect push subscribers.

@
jeremie's has answered this wonderfully. I just wanted to add: If you do decide to use a tracker, try not to use a cloud-based one (like
Voluum) that charges by impression/click, because profits from very low-payout offers like this would be eclipsed by tracker costs, unless you're running low volumes. Self-hosted trackers like
Binom would be more feasible.

Thanks for replying

So, I have ran a test campaign like this before (like the one in the $1 guide) and I used
Binom as a tracker.
But after running and optimizing it, there wasn't much left, maybe $1/day in ad spend.
So, If I have already gained some insights into how to run an affiliate campaign, should I just start with your 40-days Tutorial for Pop ads OR, Should I start with Push Ads (as you said that there isn't much volume in pop)?
What should be my
budget for completing the 40-days tutorial, I mean till I get a campaign that's profitable?
Is it possible to have a successful campaign (using the 40-days tutorial) just doing direct linking, as we will be running 1 click billing offer
it shouldn't require a landing page?
I just want to have some campaigns that make
at least $3 - $4 profit/day and then I want to progress further (into landers).
Thanks in advance

That's natural - popads doesn't have a lot of volume. So after cutting placements aggressively, there's often not enough traffic left.
But PopAds is a good source for testing offers and learning how things work.
So, If I have already gained some insights into how to run an affiliate campaign, should I just start with your 40-days Tutorial for Pop ads OR, Should I start with Push Ads (as you said that there isn't much volume in pop)?

I didn't mean there's no volume in pop traffic - I was only referring to the volumes on popads in general.
You can start with either tutorial, but the push tutorial is for affiliates that has SOME experience running traffic. If you need to learn the basics, then the 40-day tutorial would be a better guide to start with - then you can "graduate" to the push tutorial.
Nobody can say how much budget you'll need to spend until you find your first profitable campaign. The advice is to do mass-testing once you know the basic testing and optimization methods. Test a ton of offers, landing pages, geos, bids, everything. Learn to get the testing done with minimum budget but STILL run enough budget to give things a chance to perform, while not over-spending. This is talked about in detail throughout the 40-day tutorial, but NOTHING beats practically experience.
Is it possible to have a successful campaign (using the 40-days tutorial) just doing direct linking, as we will be running 1 click billing offer
it shouldn't require a landing page?
I just want to have some campaigns that make
at least $3 - $4 profit/day and then I want to progress further (into landers).
The last time I ran anything direct-linked was almost half a year ago. At that time I did find some offers that were profitable for certain geos. They accepted world-wide traffic - for those offers it can be easier to find pockets of profits.
I don't know if there are offers out there RIGHT NOW that can give you profits direct-linked. It really depends on what offers are available at the time, not to mention which affiliate networks you're working with and what offers they have available.
You can ask networks for offers that have a chance of performing well when direct-linked on pop traffic, and test a bunch and see if you could get it profitable.
Direct-linked or using landers, expect to test a TON of offers like I mentioned above. It's not unusual to have to test 10-20+ offers and not find profits. Days of easy profits are over, but there are still many affiliates making good money with pop and push. You just need to be realistic and be willing to put in the work.
Yes there are easier ways to make a buck for sure, but there are challenges associated with each traffic type and business model. Pop traffic is fragmented - it's hard to get high volumes in a single geo on a single traffic source without bidding through the roof, so in order to make a sizeable income you'd need to be running in multiple geos and multiple traffic sources. And tons of testing is required constantly - there's no such thing as set-and-forget (although occasionally you could get lucky and a campaign may stay profitable for months - it just doesn't happen too often). But pop has its advantages as well - it's cheap and it's easy to run, which makes it the perfect playground for newbies. If you run pop for a while, and THEN move to push or native, your learning curve will be considerably shorter, and you'll have saved a considerable amount of money, because doing the same learning in push or native (ESPECIALLY native) would cost you 10-100x+ as much to make some of the same mistakes and learn some of the same lessons.
Hope that helps!
Amy

Can you please show me the following:
1)Your original affiliate offer link.
2)The modified offer link you put into PopAds as the destination url.
3)The PopAds postback you copied from your PopAds account.
4)The postback you pasted into Mobipium.
5)A screenshot of the postback page on Mobipium.

You would need to contact PopAds support about that.
If you don't get an answer from popads after 7 days, please update this thread to let me know, and also PM me your popads account email. I will do my best to get some help for you.
