(Note: for all people with ADHD, feel free to skip the first 3 paragraphs)
I'll start by saying that I've read a lot of the follow along's, and some are entertaining, some are more serious, but the main commonality is that they're all so informative. Thank you to everyone for starting/commenting on those. I'll be as transparent as possible with the campaigns, show everything but targets, so it can be a complete learning experience for me and anyone else. Before this forum I've had some modest success with AM, nothing crazy, and really nothing consistent. I know majority of my results have been to inconsistent follow through, and over thinking.
I don't know who else can relate but it always seemed like something came up pulling me away from this. Which I realize is no excuse, and is one of the reasons for starting this Follow Along. Accountability never hurts ;-).
As far as "over-thinking" goes... I used to think there was always something better, and switch my stance up way too often. Every day there is someone promoting the "best new niche/traffic source/angle/etc.." and being new, you want get blinded by the outcomes and forget about the baby-steps that took a long time to get that outcome. I read this book called Mastery - The Keys to Success and Long Term Fulfillment By George Leonard, and that has done wonders for my perspective. Was always the type of kid that had things come naturally, I wouldn't be the best at something I picked up but I would be good enough to be thought of as good, and I kind of just used that to get by alright. The areas I really excelled in life were the ones that I had unknowingly applied the principles of practice, focus, discipline, and process…that seem to all get forgotten when hearing about making $x,xxx/day, or any other dream outcome you can think of, and not hearing about the weeks in the red testing lp's, targets, copy, images of blonde girls compared to gingers, etc… Basically the short-term over night successes are the exception, not the rule. So working smart and grinding is a must.
So there is my epiphany moment that I'm sure isn't the first/last time you've heard/thought it… but I really wanted to put that out there because I know those are going to be my main challenges. 1) Always thinking that there is something better, which will deviate from sticking to my original plan 2) Sticking to a schedule of allotting specific time to work on this and have no distractions.
That said, let's get right into more details about the 30 for 30.

Niche to run
- a little stuck on what to do here. Idk if you've read my intro post of not, but I have a solid background in dating, was a dating coach… so that is a market I could potentially do well with. I do have an interest higher paying offers, that will have no scrubbing/quality issues, as from all the people I know personally who were making serious figures with AM were running these types of offers (diet/biz/teeth/skin/financial/etc..). But given I have 1k initially (which will grow as I have a job that can fund my testing) I don't know if it would be a smart decisions to go down that road at first. Any thoughts?
My process I will be following
I am going to follow the process in the 40 guide (good looks on that Tijn & Polar Bacon, that guide is big f*ckin titties
). So basic plan: 1) niche & offer 2) research niche & offer to come up with angle 3) LPs 4) build target list(s) 5) Optimize 6) Scale
Process to optimize
1)focus on finding targets with volume that are getting clicks (have thought about just going after targets with volume and trying to just test to find LP's that get clicks, but I figured with a smaller testing budget that I should start out going with more actual data for the money spent, until I can afford to spend more on testing)
2) Focus on finding the best converting targets, LP's, and offer… seeing what the commonalities are, the differences, how I can improve CTR and CR with a/b & multivariate testing, rotating offers, and basically just always test the highest performer (with significant data) against a new LP/similar target.
3) take the profitable targets and expand them via typos, variations (example.com -> example.co, etc..) increasing bids to maybe get more traffic, or the opposite if applicable and decreasing bids to gain more ROI assuming it won't effect traffic (read somewhere that positions 1-3 really get the same amount of traffic…
4) seeing how the ROI per user can be increased, whether that's adding an opt-in form and monetizing repeatedly through email, or hitting user with multiple offers to fill out.
For now I am going to set everything up and start looking for offers/niches to run, and then report back tomorrow with decisions and next steps.
Well if you have read through this whole thing, then you are a gentlemen and a scholar, and I'll write you a handwritten note on the back of a Benjamin when I'm making like 2 stacks a day.
Success & nothing less my friends!

Holla!

I read through too
Awesome gotta love follow alongs. Any coreg for you?
Dubbsy, gonna remind you on sending me a personal note in a few weeks, eh? Definitely can relate to your story though, I haven't posted my own follow along yet but through the ones I've read I've learned to focus and well, it helped a LOT in getting things going.
With "just" $1k I wouldn't start rebills either. Go for submits or better yet, short-form lead gens. Installs might work as well.
Let us know how you get on!
@harrypotter: cool idea, I'd be in!
Hey Dubbsy , first, congrats for taking action.
I would suggest you start with a couple email submits.
After you find one that shows some promise , rip the landing page and place a coreg as the backend.
That will convert better 99% of the time.
Keep us posted!
Ok so for my first champagne campaign... I'm going to be building around the hype of new Twilight Movie. I know this can't last forever but figure that I might try to capitalize on the girlies trying to search for it, and with such a strong following I figure I have to try.
I went to NeverBlue and to Wolfstorm and picked up two of the same offer (tho their lp's are a little different). and I created 2 landing pages. My design skills are pretty suspect, aka I taught myself coding and photoshop and to say the least, I have a lot more learning to do.
Here are my two LP's:

(font is Zephyr, supposed to be the "Twilight Font")
and

Feel free to rip them apart. I wanted to test two completely different types and see which style got more clicks. The first one looks more like the offer page, and the second just kind of just the opposite colors. As of now there is no sound or flashing buttons either, so will add those in after first round of testing.
I got about 20 targets, all off the first page of google when I put in generic searches for the movie.
Right now I submitted to Traffic Vance, and now just waiting till they're approved.
[side note:With something like this, you think it would be better to just scrape hundreds of targets at first?]
With the current scenario..
To spend 1x the offer payout on every target would cost me $30 ($1.50 payout, 20 targets), so that will be my budget for the first round to get to, which will give me only 2308 views with an average cpv of .013. So I'll see where I end up after that with clicks, which targets are getting the most traffic and then see where/if there are any conversions.
I would like to get the ROI on this to 50%+, I don't know if that is a reasonable target or not... but to do that, I plugged in some numbers to Tijn's cpm2cpa calculator and saw I would need a 10% CTR and a 17% CR. So that means that for every 1000 views, there will be 100 clicks, and 17 conversions. Cost = $15 and revenue will be $25.50. I know there are mad scenarios there but I could always see what needs to be adjusted (CTR or CR or both) to get to target ROI.
Also, in order to make a profit I know I need my eCPM > CPM (thanks Phoenix), and my cpm will be avg $13. Offer pays out $1.50 so I would need 9 conversions per 1000 impressions to be profitable, or a eCPM of about 1%.... I think I did that math right?
So those are the metrics, now I just have to wait to see if I get traffic and what happens next...
Thanks for following, hasta manana.

not to say you cant do it, but you shouldnt if you want to CYA. Im talking specifically about the second lander.
its not really a good idea to say xxxx.com is giving away... that "could" come back to haunt you
but you CAN say xxx.com visitors can win, or We're giving away to xxx.com visitors, etc...
know what i mean?
not saying you would ever get in trouble, but why risk it. I dont know of anyone who ever HAS gotten in trouble either, for that matter. but still good to be safe in my opinion, but that choice is totally yours, however.
If this goes strong for a couple days why not build your own offer and use a coreg path as the backend?
In most cases you will get a higher EPC using your own path.
dubbsy: I'm enjoying following along with your campaign. This is the first one I got on from the beginning. Congratulations on your initial success.
You should also try using Lead Impact for traffic as some people here have found they have more volume.
Haven't forgotten about this, just been really busy updating and building out campaigns... this campaign right now is fluctuating around 35-70 profit/day and haven't really had to mess around with it too much. Have tested various landers, and added a lot of keywords to try to increase traffic (not by much, but did result in about 10 extra conversions and around a 30% CR, 50% CTR for the lower volume keywords).
I will come back to this either today or tomorrow and post a more detailed update!
Peace,
- D
Niiiice, .... keep us all updated with your progress.
Great follow along Dubbsy! Keep testing especially new targets to get that volume up.
What up fellas,
So an update with this campaign.
I've tried adding a lot more targets, some more broad and so far they haven't delivered, and then some youtube videos around the movies and they've been doing well. Not a big difference, but every profitable target helps...
Campaign stats:
Spent: $274.49
Rev: $528.25
P/L: $253.76
ROI: 92.45%
*** Tip, I messed around with lowering my bid and seeing how low I could go being in position 1 for the keywords getting traffic, and was able to lower it .002 cents which lowered my CPM $2, so that is adding some addition ROI to the campaign, and so far hasn't affected traffic *** - (thanks Adrian if you're reading this)
So overall I'm happy with this, and have some ideas to scale this horizontally (I think it's horizontally at least) with moving it to different networks and traffic sources.
First I am porting over to Lead Impact and see what happens there. The next step which I've been spending some time learning about is turning this into a Coreg (on Besmir's suggestion as well as some others). Then if I can get everything up and running and profitable, taking this over to Facebook as well. The twilight market there will be huge, but I don't want to stray to far from PPV until I've got this traffic source mastered.... but the potential money I could be leaving on the table by not going on FB could be huge... decisions decisions...
Ultimately I don't think I'm going to FB until the coreg path is set up and working because I don't want to 1) Bounce around and spread myself too thin too early and 2) lose focus from what I had originally set out to do, which is get PPV under control and learn the in's and out's
So that is where I'm at with this campaign... it's not a HUGE money earner, but it's providing some additional income (would be around 1200 a month if it lasts that long) and allowing me to learn the process and expand, all while making money (which could be good and bad for my head haha).
Once I get the coreg path up and running I will come back and update this with results and my direction. As of now I am talking to GameTheory (what up Justin!) and going to set everything up this weekend.
Thanks for reading...will have more updates soon!
Holla!
looking great man. don't forget actor/actresses names, etc for targets.
could help get the volume up. you could also do some research and see what sites Twilight Fans like (forums, Twilight clothing, etc) and use those to get the volume up as well.
Yeah ive had similar results. Also i sometimes have two similar offers from different networks perform radically different, like in the morning one was the winning offer and then in the afternoon the other - that would often continue day after day.
I guess they applied different shaving rules.
Looking forqard to your coreg update
