Contest Finale- STRANGE Ways to Make Money, $1k in Prizes Awarded

The Thanksgiving Holiday is over, the good wine is consumed (until next week anyways), Black Friday has come and gone, Cyber Monday is now Hangover Tuesday and it is time to start the GRAND FINALE of my How to Buy a Click Once and Resell It 1000 Times contest.

Part 1 of the contest dealt with how to make money with my new internal landing pages via formatting, design, offers, push subscriber windows and other ideas. All traffic to these pages comes from my opt in Email List, so I pass email addresses to all placements on the pages. The Part One thread is worth reviewing (and contributing to), there have been some great write ups and ideas everyone can benefit from.

You can review and contribute to Part 1 here:

Oh, and thanks to all the networks and private offer owners who have reached out to me on skype and given me some great offers to add to the pages and test (I am currently putting them on Adsbridge and writing up many, many pre-sell pages)

Part Two is your ideas for “wholesaling” traffic, and while there has not been as much discussion as part 1, I have had some very smart people contact me privately for “serious business” which, of course, is part of the point of Part 2. You can review (and contribute) to Part 2 here, and it might give you some very interesting ideas- if you have good traffic, sometimes it makes sense to “wholesale” it because you can often get paid up front and in a larger amount than running it to offers. I prefer a mix of both.

You can review and contribute to Part 2 here:

So, that brings us to Part Three of the contest, the Grand Finale, and my favorite part- your ideas for STRANGE ways to make money with the below landing pages. I’ll share some of the STRANGEST, and perhaps those will spark some ideas for you.

Now by “strange,” I really mean “non-obvious,” those opportunities an experienced marketer can see that others often can’t. Since I come from a direct mail background, I always think in terms of lists and buyers and sometimes that gives me insight into opportunities other miss. On the flip side, “internet only” marketers have given me ideas that I totally missed, and sometimes the non-obvious idea is the biggest. As a copywriter, I prefer the word STRANGE to “non-obvious,” because it is more exciting, but you get the idea.

Here are the landing pages to review, STRANGE ideas are below:

Position 3: Be a better lover

Here are my ideas for STRANGE ways to make money with these new landing pages, ideas that don’t jump out at first.

STRANGE Idea #1
On-page automatic “email co-registration” to other email marketers (also known as “private lead share”).

If you have a look at:

https://effortlesscommunication.com/...@fudpucker.com

…you will see the email address is in the url. Something called a curl script can be set up on the page to “grab” the email address and post it via API (or even webform) into the email system of another marketer, and they can pay per email address inserted.

Many email marketers call this “data” and this is a more valuable email address than other means of acquisition. To get TO the landing page they had to receive an email from me, open the email, then click the link to get to the page so they are a “live clicker.”

A curl script operates in the background, so there is no effect on what happens on my page. The email marketer simply gets the email address at a fixed cost, then makes money by following up to it via email, knowing the email address is a clicker, and a male, 45 years old plus, US geo, interested in dating. It’s not quite as valuable as the “wholesaled” email address from someone who clicked an on page placement like we talked about in Part 2 of the contest, but for an email marketer who makes money mailing “data” it is a VERY good email address. They don’t get a welcome page, of course, but they do get a valid clicker at a fixed cost, and to a long term email marketer that is very valuable.

So, literally, I can make “background money” on these pages with no offer conversion interference whatsoever, and that is, indeed a STRANGE and non-obvious way to make money. It does take a specialized client to buy these “upgraded co-regs” (private lead share), but all I need is one or two who know what they are doing with email, and we are all happy.

STRANGE Idea #2
This idea really isn’t THAT strange, but it is a variation on Part 2, wholesaling. I can sell direct cpc email blasts to my list to clients who list build and run lots of dating offers instead of running traffic to my internal landing pages.

Sometimes I like doing this, sometimes I don’t because my list loves their daily pictures, but direct offers and cpc email blasts to the entire list can do well sometimes. When I do this, I don’t allow anything X-rated or pornographic on the initial landing page (sexy, naughty, r-rated is fine), and I certainly don’t allow ripped celebrity landers which can get everyone put out of business, but clients can do whatever they want after the initial page, and the email address is theirs.

When I do this, which is not very often, I also use my unique email copywriting skills to write emails that match up to the client’s landing landing page, instead of the current “So and so sent you a message” garbage that everyone swipes from everyone else. This tends to keep the list happy and responsive. When it comes to email marketing, there really is some wretched email copywriting in the dating space.

STRANGE Idea #3
Email list swap—I mail for you, you mail for me, we keep what we get. Each of us sends roughly an equal number of clicks to the other, and every two months or so we do it again. Nice, clean, and easy.

STRANGE Idea #4
As has been mentioned elsewhere, I can always sell my expertise via consulting. This would entail a (large) fee plus royalty for high volume networks and affiliates who are not as familiar with email copywriting as I am, but have big lists with, shall we say, below average copywriting and landing pages.

On occasion I enjoy doing some consulting, but it does take a lot of time and energy, and I only do it if I know I can make a big difference in someone’s business, and I can get recurring revenue. As you build your skill set, this IS something you should think about too, you can get your living expenses paid for a year.

BUT, you have to know which clients to say NO to, and which ones you know immediately you can make a big difference for. Generally if I see a business that is high volume and technically sound, but makes their money by only analyzing data without any “personality marketing” whatsoever, I can make a big difference in their bottom line FAST.

So, now you’ve heard my STRANGE ideas, some of which may be useful for you too. Let’s hear your STRANGE ideas for making money from my landing pages in non-obvious ways. The contest will run over the weekend, and I will announce the winners next week after carefully re-reading through all the threads. They will receive CASH and eternal glory.

STRANGE Idea #5
Promote to your list a premium newsletter that has a monthly fee. Offer something of value that your readers will want to pay for.

STRANGE Idea #6
Ask your visitors and subscribers to help support you

STRANGE Idea #7
You can create white-label dating sites specifically for segments of your lists. Make each website's design and message specific to your target audience. Then promote them to your list segments.
