Does Direct Linking Really Work? Cash bonanza round 2! (29)

Does Direct Linking Really Work? Cash bonanza round 2!

When I first came to PPV around 10 months ago I was told by so many people that direct linking sucks and no moniez may be made with it and that landers are the only way to make PPV work!

I started out making landing pages, and I am terrible at making them. Now do not get me wrong you will make money with landers on PPV. BUT! there is also lots of money to be made with simple direct linking.

One day I was just chilling on my desk and it popped into my head that Leadimpact actually has traffic outside of our comfort zone, and it has lots of it.

France, Germany, Spain, Italy, all those european countries!

Anyway so I thought hmm maybe ill give it a whirl! So I went onto my network of choice for that era and I found a teeth whitening offer in French (Gleamify)

I can't read french for shit, so I had no clue what the lander said. So then I made a leadimpact campaign and scraped Google france for everything to do with teeth whitening, dental, teeth bleach all that jazz in both english and french and simply direct linked this offer over it.

Well, it worked!

And the clicks were dead set cheap as dirt, 0.15 cents a pop and guess what I was earning back?

I believe the spend was about $75 and yeah that was the revenue.

I think thats like 4400% roi haha

The only sad thing is that this offer went down in 4 days ! But nevertheless it was some crazy money for around 40 minutes of work.

I have replicated this many times now, direct linking rebills actually works a charm on PPV, but not just rebills I've direct linked insurance, dating, obscure niche offers and Groupon has been a good one too!

Anyway theres another piece of the maynzie puzzle and I hope some people can take a spin off this, because Gleamify isn't around anymore so you will have to make your own campaigns !

So if your struggling with landing pages, remember maynzie buddy over here is direct linking a fair bit, Id say 60/40 direct link/landers on PPV for me

Goodluck Nigz!

Peace

Good shit nigz! Sick ROI is rewarded when you make that extra effort or have that creative spark that most affs don't.

Most people would be happy to get paid 2.9k for 40 mins work.

Now thats a gr8 tip man ... currently I am profiting on eml submits just direct linking but the ROI is pretty decent ... definitely gonna do some test on this one

Wow Nice Maynzie!! Last time I made 2.9k in 40 mins I had to spend $800 on mouth wash and I had lock-jaw for a week!!

Type into Google and collect URLs manually, or use the Affexpert tools you got free for being a member here.

10-31-2011 07:16 AM #11 alex_b (Member)

On that note, why did you also scrape keywords/urls in english when this was a french offer? Did you assume some of them would research this stuff in english?

Are you aware of googles global markets tool??

Basically what it does is you feed it a bunch of english keywords that work well for you, and it gives you the most likely global markets they would also work and their local translation!!

First you fill out your country, language, keywords and which countries you want to search for opportunities. Fill out the capcha and then click Find Opportunities:

Then you scroll down the list, and low and behold, Google suggests what it thinks are your best english and local translations for the keywords you entered.

Bets of all it ranks them based on how well it thinks they will work.

Now my gut tels me that the ones with high competition (highlighted) are probably most likely to work.

So scrape targets for those, and dont forget to grab the URL of the adwords advertisers for those terms as well

Based on this data, another country that you could try with this approach is spain.

10-31-2011 02:41 PM #19 alex_b (Member)

nice find, tijn! Do you know by chance what their "opportunity" rating is based on? Czech Rep and Hungary are 4th and 2nd, yet have marginal traffic compared to the others.

10-31-2011 03:32 PM #20 tijn (Moderator)

http://www.google.com/support/globalmarketfinder/?hl=en

Opportunity Score is a dynamic metric based on local monthly search volume, suggested bid, and competition between different locations in your target market. If two locations have the same search volume, then the location with the lower suggested bid receives a higher Opportunity Score. Similarly, if two locations have the same suggested bid, then the location with the higher search volume gets a higher Opportunity Score.

I always just used that particular country's google:
Google.fr
Google.ca
Google.it
Etc...

From what I have seen, this returns both organic and paid results from that country.

10-31-2011 11:39 PM #26 maynzie (Moderator)

Have to say this is my best one so far, but...........

I have made ALOT more from other campaigns like this but they were around much longer and the roi was considerably less

Better get testing to catch up to the mayne train !
