CPV Lab on FB

I saw the same thread for POF, so ...

How do i setup CPVLab to track FB. I have the guide from CPVLab, but i have no idea how to make report template for FB.

Also, if anybody knows how to setup CPVLab-Spydr tool-Facebook, it would be much appreciated

facebook & cpvlab:
- go to settings >> add cpv network
- create a new network "Facebook" and enter

source: facebook
sourceID: fb
Keyword Token: keyword
Append token: &keyword=EDIT

if you make a new direct linking campaign you will get a link like:

yourdomain/base.php?c=asdf&key=1234w34234&keyword=EDIT

replace EDIT with your tracking id (e.g. ...&keyword=w1-[subid]-[agemin]-[titlenum]-[sex]

How do you upload the reports from FB? I don't have report template for FB, so i can't see which keywords.ads brought conversions.

honestly... i don't know how to do this with a report. i just copy & paste subids from EWA to cpvlab manually.

Get a SSL for your tracking domain and use image pixels to see instant conversions :-)

Thats all set, but how do you check which ads or keywords are bringing conversions?

put the ad name at the end of your cpvlab tracking link.....then when it converts if you have your pixel set up at the network you will see which ad it is

This is what i have on CPVLab platform after uploading SubID's:

There is no cost and no ads/keywords.
I'm probably missing something in the setup.

you are missing the following from movingshadow's post

yourdomain/base.php?c=asdf&key=1234w34234&keyword=EDIT
replace EDIT with your tracking id (e.g. ...&keyword=w1-[subid]-[agemin]-[titlenum]-[sex]

when you use your campaign url on fb, make sure you replace EDIT with whatever you want to track. lets say you wanted to track 23 year old girls from california then your facebook url (yourdomain/base.php?c=asdf&key=1234w34234&keyword=EDIT) would be changed to yourdomain/base.php?c=asdf&key=1234w34234&keyword=23_FEMALE_C ALIFORNIA or something like that

for your cost on your campaign setup, put something in the Stats CPV: field. I usually ballpark it. if my average click cost is 40 cents then i put .4 in that field

This is my setup:

http://mydomain.com/track/base.php?c...eyword=Exxxxxx[subid]-[keyword]-[sex]

and this is the subID that i get: 16ta4h1k_17_8609

This is how I setup the tracking with spydr's tool

As you noticed I use spydr's tags to dynamically insert subid, agemin as well as age max. This will output something like this: ad03-13-17 and this way you exactly know which ad converts if your pixel is working.

That's how i setup too,[subid]-[keyword]-[sex], my ad outputs: ad100-keyword-male/female, but, my conversion subID's looks like this:

16ta4h1k_17_8609
16ta4h1k_17_8662
16ta4h1k_17_8672
16ta4h1k_17_8757
16ta4h1k_17_8794
16ta4h1k_17_8799
etc...
so when i upload them to CPV Lab(i have to upload from EWA cos my current hosting doesn't accept SSL certificates), it only shows how many conversions i have. So how can i know which ad brought the conversion?

Do i need to add tokens or this is the right setup?

I just notice that you have [subid]-[agemin]-[agemax] in your spydr setup URL too. I guess this is my error. Probably CPV Lab is going to take the subID's from there, so instead of them looking like 16ta4h1k_17_8609, they are going to look like ad100-keyword-male/female. Is this right?

08-08-2011 05:18 PM #15 minh1204 (Member)

cpvlab gives 16ta4h1k_17_8609 to your affiliate network so that they don't see your tracking info. when you paste the subids back into cpvlab it tells you which ad converted. even without uploading those subids back to cpvlab, you should see some sort of tracking information in your stats.

when you get everything right, cpvlab will show:
ad01-keyword-female
ad02-keyword-female
ad03-keyword-male

with relevant stats WITHOUT conversion info.

when you upload your 16ta4h1k_17_8609 subids, cpvlab will then show which ads converted.

i think your problem has something to do with your dynamic keywords. maybe they are not setup right in spydr. in your ad you have this at the end? keyword=ad100-keyword-male/female? is there really a / there? if there is, maybe thats causing a problem?

try this. take your campaign url and append anything at the end and load it in your browser. http://yourdomain.com/base.php?c=358...stingsubidhere. testingsubidhere should now show in your stats in cpvlab.

08-08-2011 05:32 PM #16 movingshadow (Member)

i think i have the same "problem":

when i click on "stats" in cpvlab and chose the campaign i see my keywords, clicks etc. but NO conversions (all 0)

but

when i click on "reports" i see my keywords AND conversions.

edit:
@godspeed: sorry to bother you with this but in the field "URL Append Token" there you have &keyword= EDIT... looks like you have a space between the = and EDIT. this might "break the string".

Yes exactly, Spydr will replace the subid, agemin and agemax which will then output your tracking link like &keyword=ad03-13-17. This ad is then marked once a conversion happened as far as you have placed your https:// image pixel on the network.

OK, now we r getting somewhere
Testing URL shows the target in CPV Lab stats. Why the targets from spydr are not showing?
This is my setup in spydr:

There is no / or space.
What is correct setup with spydr?

You have to ad the "AU[subid]-[agemin]-[agemax]" string at the end of your cpvlab link you have inserted into Sypdr's tool. So simply ad this AU[subid]-[agemin]-[agemax] to your link and you're ready to go > &keyword=AU[subid]-[agemin]-[agemax]

nvm was obviously too lazy to watch the CPVLab videos... for others w/same question if you have SSL on your cpvlab domain then you simply add the "s" to the http so it's:

<img src="https://yourtrackingdomainwithcpvlab.com/adclick.php" width="1" height="1" border="0" />

instead of (which is default)
<img src="http://yourtrackingdomainwithcpvlab.com/adclick.php" width="1" height="1" border="0" />

You guys are missing something that the thread starter asked.... that's...

How do you guys upload the click cost of FB to CPV Lab?

I need to bring out this issue as well because I've just bought CPVLab and I can't seem to find a tutorial to help on this. I did message Robert on this but he says I need to manually configure the report and upload "really fresh" reports to CPVLab for correct stats, at which I find quite inconvenient.

Anyone facing similar problem and can share with me your solution..?

I understand that CPVLab is mainly for PPV tracking but I am surprised that Robert didn't actually look at recording the correct Facebook cpc and include in CPVLab. OR else it would have been a perfect piece of tracking system I would say (at my level of course).

I'm currently using CPVLab w/FB ads and I did figure it out but forgot to update this thread (there was another one w/same issue)
check this: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ll=1#post39186

my earlier answer on this very thread deals w/conversion pixel and how to make CPVLab track conversions automatically for offers/networks that require secure image/tracking/etc

Thanks for this! It's sweet!

By the way, are you able to get the correct click cost by doing this?

Robert did mention that you have to "always" download the latest report and upload them in order to get accurate click cost.

Let's say if I update mine using the way like you do for last week's stats, and if I download another report (which consists of 2 weeks) and update the current week, do you able to get an accurate one?

Thanks again for your reply!

^ my understanding is you have different report views... when you upload a report you can select same day and keep updating it.. when it's done you click view and it's fine... if later in the day you have new stats to upload use the same method and when you click on view you from dropdown you can see prev reports so I just delete the earlier file.. not sure if this make sense but knock on wood it works for me so far

@sm1810 or kokofai : are you saying if i want to view yesterday 's report, I should upload ONLY yesterday report ? or always the latest report ?

12-08-2011 05:25 PM #27 sm1810 (Member)

there's a pull down menu from reports section that allows you to filter your view.. so let's say day 1 you upload day 1 spending report, day 2, day 3, etc. Once you're in the reports section you can use the dropdown menu to filter to a specific report

I find it too difficult to track Facebook using CPVLab. So I decided to stick back to P202. Honestly Robert should add in the function whereby you can just straight download the report from FB and upload them.

I don't even use the reports as I find it to be a pain to upload that stuff. I simply compare the EPV on Lab against my CPC on FB. Less hassle.

@kokofai : I already dropped a ticket to Robert, maybe next update will have this feature, we shall see.
