Hey All,
So I just got the email from Facebook where they say they've noticed that I'm running ads that violate their terms of service, and if I don't delete those ads within 24 hours they're canceling my account.
I've never actually run anything fishy on FB to this point. The only thing I can think is that I submitted some Cupid app installs this weekend, most of my ads were disapproved even though I was using the same images I've used countless times before, with really generic text. All the disapprovals were their usual generic nonsense.
I'm guessing there's no way for me to find out to which ads they're referring, correct? Do I just delete everything? Has anyone made it through this email and not been banned?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
I'd can the camps that are the least bit racy, even if they're paused. Upload some camps that are so generic and dry, but within their TOS, that it makes a marketer want to hang himself.
That's my .015
Delete all ads but have the good ones saved locally untill the heat goes off from your account.
also remember that alot of the time offers go dead....and redirect to like a email submit or something.....which makes it look you have been switching stuff.....
it could also be your approval ratio as groomez mentioned you need to upload some very legit ads.....to like a local biz or something.....never run them just get them approved....
Haha thanks guys. Lucky for me, about 95% of my campaigns have been crap anyway so it's no huge loss. I just wanted to make sure there was a chance I can get fix this, or if it's inevitable.
I guess the solution is to delete everything. It's my fault for pushing the envelope and asking single people, who are single enough to notify Facebook as to their relationship status, if they would be interested in no longer being single and perhaps be interested in joining a dating service that could help them remedy the situation.
The rejection reasons I got this weekend said there were certain issues w/ the landing page, so I wonder if that's it. I have a one month old daughter who times her pooping with when I finally sit down to submit ads, so it's possible I didn't fully vet the links and perhaps that looked fishy.
I've followed the Polarbacon Approval Ratio Success Method historically and had legitimately been 99% approved over two years, that's why this is so perplexing.
But the last thing affiliate marketing needs is another thread bitching about Facebook's inconsistencies.
I got this email on one of my accounts the other day. I emailed them and asked to know the specific ad that was causing the issue. They got back to me, told me, i deleted it. Pretty simple.
theguvna, thanks for this - did you just email the generic "Help" email? I'd like to do that but can't find an address that will reach a human being
I'm a jackass. It says to reply to the email if I have any questions.
Thanks guys for your help.
Be interesting to see the outcome of this, I had that a week or so ago, I deleted all of the "on the fence" campaigns I was running and they decided to can my account - I have tried emailing them but no reply. The joy of starting fresh $50/dayers
got the same email...very surprising because I haven't done anything I'd consider risque. Anyway, I shot them an email...we'll see.
Surprisingly, I once had this killer ad running and got that same email. Weighed up the pro's and con's - ie, risk and reward. Started deleting a couple of ads that could've been considered risque but weren't converting like this particular ad.
Waited a few days later (I'm pretty sure they say its a 48 hour period to comply).
2 months later, I was still running the same ad.
Moral of the story: there is none. Just thought it was interesting. Or maybe not
Hey rich, I emailed 3 different times and the first 2 times, they didn't want to reactivate the account cause of terms, but the last person did. Just email every department of theirs and have a good statement indicating you are an agency and you were porting campaigns into facebook from google/bing.
UPDATE:
They never got back to me. I replied to the email they had sent, as well as forwarding that email with my questions to a sales contact email I'd used in the past.
My account has a pretty high spending limit, and since I had no idea to which ad they were referring, I just deleted all of my dating campaigns. The email said I had 24 hours, which was 7am PST today. I didn't feel like chancing it. The risk of dealing with trying to set up another account was too much, especially since it was likely I'd make the same mistake again (since I didn't know what the mistake was).
When a campaign is deleted you can still look at the data and everything, and the creatives are still in your creative library. So you have an idea of what worked etc, you just can't change the status back to "active" once it's deleted. I didn't have any current campaigns which were blowing up so it was an easier decision for me. But I was preparing a ton of tests and needed to use their platform.
As of right now I can still get to the platform, and even tried logging in/out with success (knock on wood).
I'd like to hear back from them to get an idea of what is the fuck; historically I had about a 90% approval rate. I'm not expecting much.
Thanks to everyone for their responses. It's fun getting help from a forum instead of bearded jackasses calling me a noob - it's almost like people who use STM are actually working
After reading this thread i opened my email and guess what? Same email, so i deleted all campaigns. They were all non -profitable and losing $100+/day for testing. I guess im in profit now
FB is aggressively targeting advertisers at the ad-level right now. I had the same issue. Took 'em down, and reupped some "compliant" type images. Worked like a charm.
So i got that "pre-ban" email some days ago. I did run some questionable stuff (mobile pin submits).
What i did before:
- I've been uploading TONS of charity ads the last months/weeks (100+ campaigns). I rarely run any of them; i just makes my account look a bit more "clean".
What i done after i've got the mail:
- Activitate a few of the charity campaings.
- Delete all other campaigns.
No idea, if the charity stuff will have any impact. But it's worth a try. Account is still up & running.
I got this email several months ago even tho I don't run much traffic on FB. They still haven't banned my account. I just deleted a bunch of old campaigns that had disapproved ads.
I'm just starting to use Facebook Ads again after a 14 month break from them. The ads account is part of my main personal account I use with nearly 400 friends (I'm also a Zumba instructor and need it for business and events). If they ban my ads account, do I also loose my personal profile? Or is it just the ads link is disabled?
