Problem Generating Facebook Volume / Impressions?

Hey all,

First off, been lurking on this forum for a few months and have learned a ton. At first it was overwhelming (and in some sense, still is), but it is a great resource.

Anyway, I ventured into the realm of FB advertising. Back in 2013, I was responsible for running ads for my traditional 9-5 company on FB and everything went as it should. We were just sending ads to our homepage. We targeted a US audience of about 12-15 million, told it to optimize for clicks, and off it went. Once the ads were approved, hits were coming in within minutes.

Now, for my own personal affiliate campaigns, this is not the case. The campaigns I'm running are fine to run on FB, that's not the issue. My ads are getting approved quickly enough, the campaigns / ads say that they are active and delivering, but I'm not getting any impressions. No clicks. It even says the "reach" is 0.

When I first set up the campaign, I set it to optimize for clicks with the plan to move to oCPM once I saw how well it converted.

After I got no clicks or reach for hours, I switched it to CPM. I set the CPM well above the suggested amount. The ad was approved quickly and I began waiting. Now 10 hours later, I still have 0 impressions and 0 reach, but everything says that it is active and delivering.

What's the deal? Have any of you experienced this sort of issue?

And it's not just a delay in FB reporting. My private tracker shows no activity either.

Hmm - Zeno's the man to ask about this and he's in transit at present, but I recall hearing this is related to some kind of temporary penalty on FB.

Anyone?

Sometimes, the ads even if they show as active and running it may require another approval from a Facebook reviewer, or, as caurmen says, a temporary penalty till they review your account throughly.

Yeah, I'm guessing that's what it must be. I've never heard about that before, and who knows how long I'll have to wait until they're ultimately approved. Well, I'll keep this thread updated with any news...

1. What is your audience size/demo.
2. What bidding mode and what are you actually bidding?
3. How long does it usually take to get traffic - I assume this isn't the first campaign ever on the account.

If your account is in good standing but it just takes a long time to get traffic, either you are looking a bit dodgy in FB's eyes and they are manually checking a bit more thoroughly, or you just aren't bidding/budgeting aggressively enough to get volume quickly.

First just try bidding aggressively. Usually that will do the trick.

If this does not, then you may be in for some bad news regarding your account.

Thanks. I ended up just letting it sit running for a few days while the little bit of traffic trickled in. Then, after about 4 days, the impressions & clicks all jumped up to the levels that I expected. So looks like FB may have been throttling it or something, but all is good now...

Good to hear!
