Just a quick heads up.... (24)

Just a quick heads up....

The last days I've been experimenting with traffic sources that everyone classifies as "junk" traffic.

I needed to scale a successful campaign so I started running on Clicksor , Adbrite ( Full Page Ads ) , Adoori and a couple minor ones.

Now , this is the first time I tested Clicksor and Adbrite full page ads and honestly I wasn't expecting much. Everyone keeps telling they have only bot traffic that doesn't convert.

However , to my amazement , Clicksor had a TON of traffic that was generating leads.
Not as good as to be profitable right of the bat but was at -30% ROI.

I called them and they said that I need to track partner ids so I can weed out non performers.

They are not a true CPV network, they have popunders from partner sites, so even if you bid on urls their algorithm matches keywords very broadly so only way is to track partners.

Today , after removing some non performs I am breaking even. Hopefully by optimizing more I will have a positive ROI in the next days.

With the volume they have it will be very much worth it.

Also , my rep there told me that they have most traffic for US , UK and CA and UK and CA traffic is super cheap.

I also tested Adbrite full page ads and they were profitable from the beginning.

Only downside is that volume isn't huge.

So the lesson learned from this is that no matter what you hear , the best idea is to test and see yourself.

Actually a lot of people will tell you that some this or that source doesn't work just to keep competition away!

Hmm , that's odd.

What kind of offer were you running?

Thanks for the post bbrock32. Is there a way to do this in p202?

06-09-2011 06:16 PM #6 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Yeah , make your link look like this :

domain.com/?t202kw=[msid]

Clicksor will replace [msid] with the partner id that is sending traffic.

Nice. Thanks.

Cicksor is the worst. I tracked some of the referrers and there was tons of sites with porn overlaid on top of their ads. So you think you're clicking a video but infact are clicking on the ad.

With that being said, if you do the grimiest of niches like Gambling, Enhancement, and Adult dating theres opportunity for succes.

Just don't start running edu and expect similar results.

I looked into Adoori not long ago and found out their targeted (where you pick the URL) U.S. traffic was like 3 cents a view! Are you running RON traffic with them? Or maybe international offers?

Everyone knocks Clicksor, I ran a flog to biz opp rebill there last year.... the typical landers you see now for $39 payout. I had 2 partner ID's that I was doing 2.5k revenue a day and about $1.2k net profit per day. It ran for about 8 days then suddenly the partner ID's were gone. I called them and asked about those ID's and they said they were having technical issues. I kept calling week after week and still technical issues. I finally just thought to myself maybe they saw I was spending about 1k a day on those targets and copied my campaign internally. I could be wrong but I am just speculating here. I also ran zip/email subs well there. Even tried weight loss with minor success. So there is potential with clicksor.

Exactly what I was talking about!

If you track at partner id level you can find real winners there.

Also the fact that they have huge traffic is a big plus.

do you target both categories and keywords?
when I tried to search in marketplace, I found that many categories don't have any sites listed at all?

06-12-2011 04:04 PM #13 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Yep , I targeted both keywords and categories .

I went very broad so didn't check every category in detail.

I really wanted to find out the actual sites of the site ID's that were bringing in all that cash when I was running clicksor, but they said they don't share that information. The only downside is you can only tell if a site ID is converting, but you can never see the actual site itself. You can get crazy volume too.... I think I was over 100k impressions per day to my flog when I ran it. This campaign was nuts it seemed like everytime I refreshed my stats I had a new $32 sale. I was doing something like 75-100 sales per day.

Read this thread today with interest as I am starting to use Clicksor and hap a problem right off the bat.

I decided to try it with a known converting offer which I had success with on several platforms. My ads got a ton on clicks but not one conversion. I shall try again today and will by monitoring hourly impression figures.

Mmmm ... strange ...

Are you tracking by partner id?

A lot of their pubs are fraudsters so you need to weed out the bad ones.

I'm using the [msid] token, which I assume is correct?

Yes, that's what I use to track partners.

BBrock32,

Did you try Adoori. I just did a small test there but got basically nothing. I ran a Male Muscle US offer and then rotated some subs and dating offers for overseas offers. I don't think you can track at partner id level as I understand they only have a few real big partners ie, filesharing / video sharing sites so it makes it impossible to optimize. I was bidding the minimum amount but the traffic cam too fast and didn't convert for my test. You unfortunately can't day part the test and only limit to 1000 impressions/hour so if you leave it going its expensive. If I had a real strong offer I new converted it might be worth using but its expensive to rotate offers to find a nugget.

The success that I did have there came after a LOT of testing. My advice would be...

1. Go international.
2. Pick offers that convert easily - think games, submits or downloads
3. Use the category targeting - I built separate campaigns for the 2 or 3 most relevant categories and use that to "optimize"

There's a lot of traffic if you can get something to stick. They have decent traffic in countries that are hard to reach outside of Facebook.

and...set your "Traffic Limit" to 1000 or 2000/hour to prevent your budget from burning out

Only offer I could get working on Adoori was an international mobile offer.

The landing page was pretty generic so I was just running RON with no optimization at all.

Laster for a month or so then slowly died out.

I've also made some small profit running popunders bidding on urls but volume was too small to make it worth it.

Damn, the secret is out =P I'm curious, did you manage to make the Clicksor profitable in the end?

10-14-2011 01:45 PM #23 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Yeah , I managed to squeeze a 40% ROI that lasted a couple weeks.

Traffic is not top notch but the volume is there.

If you can get smth working there it will be worth it only because of the huge volume.

Nice! Did you remove the sites that were 1 times payout or just a specific number of impressions?

I'm going nuts removing all the non converting sites
