Awesome post. will get on it asap.

One question about getting ads approved by using other websites.

Can i just swap the url in prosper from fitness-singles.com to myoffer.com after approved without any problems? What if they find out?

Being a Brit, I know nothing about NFL, apart from it seems a bit like Rugby but with lots of padding to protect yourselves...

Gonna give it a go though.

Ok. Got some traffic running to a couple of landers... one conversion at $1.75 so far. Around $8 spent.

Once you'd optimised your campaign for this, how many targets did you end up with?

I have around 148 targets which I've scraped for starters.

For anyone having initial troubles!

Step 1. Just try targeting:
nfl.com
nfl.com/superbowl
steelers.com
packers.com
superbowl.com
nfl.com/superbowl/45

Then expand those domains to target each of the main tabs:
packers.com/news-and-events/index.html
packers.com/history/index.html
packers.com/fan-zone/index.html

- Make a landing page as explained above, and you should be seeing profit right off the bat, or at least close to it.

--------

Step 2
- Remove poorly converting targets
- Add more longtail targets such as:
a) Greenbay Packers, Steelers, NFL, and Superbowl long tail URLs
b) Greenbay Packers, Steelers, NFL, and Superbowl keywords
THERE'S SO MUCH TRAFFIC AVAILABLE with just what i mentioned above, so stay targeted with your URLs/Keywords.
- At this point with a good CTR on the landing ie: page 5%+ forsure, and the right optimization you should be seeing a lot of GREEN.

--------

Step 3
- Start a new campaign targeting specific teams with the ideas mentioned in the original post

I don't really know to be honest -- will it maybe screw up tracking?
I just have a redirect script on my URL. So say my URL is FootballDating.com. I'll redirect FootballDating.com to Fitness-Singles.com, then once approved i'll edit the code to link to my offer URL. This way = guaranteed no issues.

- Recently i had just 15 main targets and expanded them to about 150. (like discussed right above).
- You really should be seeing immediate profit here...
What are your bids? Are you targets directly related to the superbowl? Whats your landing page CTR? and current conversion rate?
- If your campaign is different then 'step 1' above, maybe start a new campaign with that step and see if it helps.
- On a final note, use your knowledge of rugby to your advantage. I bet the rugby niche doesn't a lot of competition, and it still should have some decent traffic numbers in the US.

I scraped over 100 targets all closely related to nfl and superbowl (and other teams), but I've now pared them back to a smaller list (as you suggested in your post).

Still only two conversions, one of which was off nfl.com, and it was for the PKM 'Madden NFL' offer.

The only other offers I have access to are ones on MaxBounty (1 conversion at $2.60 there), and Neverblue. However, I checked on the Neverblue offers and they don't allow DLS/PPV traffic. Even asked my AM. She suggested 'Fantapper' offer, and they do have a Clay Matthews landing page, so I may give that a go.

Bids on my targets are all 0.01 to 0.015, so very low.

Edit: Forgot to mention... my lander CTR is around 4.5%.

01-31-2011 07:14 PM #8 stackman (Administrator)

Ok, your bids are good of course, and assuming your landing page CTR is good, then it's your offers.
What are your current conversion rates?

My 4 offers above were technology offers, 2 iPad offers and 2 Television offers.
ie: 'Watch the Superbowl on a new 52" LCD!'
'Check Superbowl Stats on a new iPad!'
The 3 top ones started converting at 15% and went down to 6.3% as my lowest.

cheers Jordan. I'll hunt out some Superbowl related tech offers and try again...

01-31-2011 09:01 PM #10 nick (Member)

Damn this is frustrating!

So I swapped out the offers for a iPad/iPhone submit (EWA, $1.20). I'm getting clicks, CTR is nearly 10%, but the damn thing just isn't converting! 24 clicks to the offer in the last few minutes, and only 1 conversion.

01-31-2011 09:08 PM #11 stackman (Administrator)

Nice, CTR is solid!
- Do you mention the iPad on the offer?
- Try another network/offer, even one that doesn't allow PPV traffic just so you can see what brings higher conversion rates.

01-31-2011 09:11 PM #12 marcovandaar (Member)

Ok so i have heard of Superbowl, but never really knew what the hell it was ( yeah i am from europe..)
So just checked wikipedia and now it all makes sense!

So i'm going to launch some campaigns exactly the way you described on PPV. Rotating some direct link related offers and make some LP's with "yes" "no" answers redirecting to email subs

now i'm gonna do some manual url scraping

i will update stats here

Second conversion on same URL... still running a loss though.

Yes, I mention the iPad on the offer. CTR still 9-10%. I've now added in an iPad offer over at PKM ($1.75 payout), so we'll see how that performs.

Ah Ok, i didn't know i had such a large European member base.
It might be a bit harder for you because you don't have the knowledge of the 'celebs' in the sport.
So i would stick with one of the 2 headlines:
"Who's Going To Win The Superbowl XLV",
"Did The Packers Already Win The Superbowl?"

The 2 teams playing in the Superbowl are:
- steelers.com
- packers.com

Aaaaaagh! I've rotated about 8 submit offers now, over the past 24 hours, and just cannot get them to convert consistently!

Stats over the past few hours. The lander is getting pretty good CTR still:

Here are the last two offers I rotated:

What's making this more frustrating is that this was a campaign that couldn't fail to make a profit. lol. I must be some kind of Jonah...

Your seeing conversions rates of 3.5% & 5% which aren't bad! You need a bit more traffic too, to really see things come together
Give me the whole low down of your campagin, your targets, landing page (feel free to share this in private), everything! Screenshots of your target is best if you can

Thanks Jordan. I'll get all the info together and share it. Mind you - I may not be able to do screenshots of the tracking in CPVLab, because I screwed up my 2.11 upgrade today and had to re-install the whole thing from scratch!

02-01-2011 08:51 PM #18 nick (Member)

Okay. I'm just setting this up in CPVLab to run some more traffic. I'll set another $20 overnight (here in the UK) to gather some stats, because I've lost all the stats I had previously in my disastrous cpvlab upgrade today!

Basically though, I stripped it back to just start with the targets you mentioned above:

nfl.com
nfl.com/superbowl
steelers.com
packers.com
superbowl.com
nfl.com/superbowl/45

I'll email you my lander.

I have some campaigns running on FB in the dting niche with this angle. And i have very nice CTR. I have rotated 5 offers direct linked, they got around 60 clicks each. And i got only 1 conversion from one offer, the others 0 conversions.

Now i want to try a LP. But i am with my hands in my hair, can you suggust some things i must mention etc on the LP for this niche etc? just to get my mind running

02-05-2011 10:04 PM #20 stackman (Administrator)

^^^
Sure, the overall idea of the landing page isn't to talk that much about football. Focus more on the girls, but include football in the title or use an image.

- Title ideas "Down to earth girls who will watch the game with you", "Football chicks down to get dirty", etc..
- The best plan is to create your landing once you've chosen your offer. This way you can make your landing page look the same as your offer page. (but to start, a generic landing page will work, rotate it with a few offers, then once you have your offer; make a new landing page around it, and split test both your new and old landing page with your top performing offer)
- Your angle is probably not to 'relationship' focused. So make your landing page a bit adult like, but nothing that is too provocative (don't get facebook angry). Try to base your landing page around this http://www.flirt.com
- Add a bit of a football + 'the girl next door' theme to it. (The less 'big company' feel it has to it, the better, have you ever seen "myexgf porn sites", that's the feel I'm going for without the porn/nudity).
- Also add in some facebook things to it, a FB like button, or a bit of a facebook theme in general. (It will likely help with conversions since your users are coming from Facebook)
- An option i haven't tried is adding 6 images of 'football' girls with their username's and stuff (that seems very promising)
- Finally keep it clean, simple, and not too much text.
