Day 3-8: d)Setting Up Tracking for PropellerAds and PopAds (Funnelflux)
This will be a quick post, where we'll be setting up PropellerAds and PopAds on Funnelflux, and generating the campaign urls in preparation for running traffic in the next lessons. Let's go!
***************
ACTION
1)Decide which offer to run on which traffic network
So you've gotten at least one AM-recommended offer from at least one affiliate network. Next I'd like for you to choose one offer to run on PropellerAds, and another offer to run on PopAds.
Remember how you were checking traffic volumes on both traffic networks before? Try to match an offer to each traffic network, that fits the traffic volume requirement mentioned before.
(If you have more suitable offers you're wanting to test, don't worry - you can test more offers later!)
(If you only have one suitable offer to run, you can run that same offer on both PropellerAds and PopAds - normally I wouldn't recommend testing the same offer on multiple traffic networks - I'd recommend to use the ONE traffic network you've had the most success with for testing new offers.
But what we're doing here is get some practice running our first campaign on both traffic networks - so if you don't have multiple offers, using the same offer would be OK.)
2)Grab the PropellerAds postback link
-Log into PropellerAds, click on the "Tracking" icon in the left menu. Click on the copy icon at the end of the S2S postback url to copy it.

We only need to grab the postback url ONCE. You'll never need to do this again for PropellerAds unless you change trackers.
3)Add PropellerAds as a new traffic source in Funnelflux
-In Funnelflux click on "Pages and Sources" in the left menu, then click on the "Traffic Sources" tab at the top, then click on "+ New".

-In the "Create Traffic Source" window, click inside the "Traffic Source Name" field, start typing "PropellerAds" to bring up the PropellerAds entry, and click on it.

-Scroll to the "Traffic Source Conversion Tracking" section. Set "Tracking Type" to "Postback URL", then paste the postback link you copied from PropellerAds into the "Postback URL" field.
Now you'll need to replace a couple of things in that url - replace "${SUBID}" with "{external}", and replace "${PAYOUT}" with "{payout}.
For example if this was the postback url you copied from PropellerAds:
Then the final postback url in Funnelflux should look like:
http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=12345&pid=&tid=67890&visitor_id ={external}&payout={payout}
(Note: There should be no spacing within the url - vbulletin just adds spaces seemingly by random which is super annoying.)
Click "Save Traffic Source".
Please note that you only need to set up the postback url for each traffic source on Funnelflux ONCE. You'll never have to do this for PropellerAds again for all subsequent campaigns you create for PropellerAds on this Funnelflux account.
4)Create a campaign in Funnelflux for PropellerAds
-In Funnelflux click on "Funnels" from the left menu > "+ New" > "Create Funnel":
-In the "Create Funnel" window, for the "Funnel Name" field, put a name to identify your campaign. This is to remind you of what the campaign is about and you can use any format you wish. You can start off with this format and change it as you develop your own preference:
[MMDDYY] [2-letter country code] [Wifi/Carrier]
Again, 2-letter country codes can be found here:
https://www.iban.com/country-codes
Example: Let's say you've chosen Indonesia as the target geo, and chose to run a Haka offer, and the Haka Top Geos and ISPs spreadsheet tells us that the mobile carrier Telkomsel is doing nice numbers. Let's say today's date was October 5th, 2020. Then you could name your campaign "100520 ID Telkomsel" for example. Or let's say that Indonesia is doing well in general for all mobile carriers, then name the campaign "100520 ID Carrier".
Another example: Let's say you've chosen to run a Mobipium offer. Remember how when choosing Mobipium offers, you picked a 1-click offer which accepts a geo and mobile carrier? Let's say your target geo was Egypt and your carrier was Vodafone. And let's say today's date was October 5th, 2020. Then you can name your campaign "100520 EG Vodafone".
-Click on the "+" sign after the "Parent Funnel Group" field.
-In "Funnel Group Name" type the geo - in our example I'll type "Indonesia". (It doesn't really matter what you name funnel groups or how you group your funnels. This grouping is for your own organization only and you can regroup them later however you please.) Click "Save Funnel Group".
-Click "Save and Open Editor".
-Click "Draw".
-In the "Offers" section, search for the offer you've picked for running on PropellerAds, and click and drag it onto the canvas. Then connect the TRAFFIC element to the offer element. This gif should help.
-Click "Save Funnel".
-
This next step you don't need to do right now, but in a later lesson when I ask you to copy the tracker campaign url for the PropellerAds campaign, please come back to Funnelflux > "Funnels" in left menu > find the Funnel Group we create and click to expand it to find the funnel we just created > click on the "Open in Funnel Editor" icon:
Then put your cursor on the "TRAFFIC" element and right-click > select "Send Traffic Here".
Click inside the "Traffic Source" field and select PropellerAds.
Click "Copy URL".
Note: This step you CAN choose to repeat every time you want to set up a new campaign in Funnelflux in the future. Alternatively, you can use a single funnel for multiple campaigns - I'll illustrate this later on.
5)Grab the PopAds postback link
-Log into PopAds > "New Campaign" in left menu:
-Enter values for "Name" and "URL" as in the screenshot below. We're not actually setting up the campaign now - just want to set up a "dummy" campaign as it's the only way to get the postback url.
-Click on "Budgets" tab to expand, then enter values as shown below.
-Click on "Country Targeting" tab to expand, then click on "Aland Islands" then "Add >>":
-Scroll to bottom and click "Create Campaign".
-On the new page, scroll down to find and click the "Pause" button. When asked "Are you sure you want to pause this?" click "OK".
-Click on "Pixels and Postback":
-Copy the link in the "Postback" field:
6)Add PopAds as a new traffic source on Funnelflux
-In Funnelflux click on "Pages and Sources" in the left menu, then click on the "Traffic Sources" tab at the top, then click on "+ New".
-In the "Create Traffic Source" window, click inside the "Traffic Source Name" field, start typing "PopAds" to bring up the PopAds entry, and click on it.
-Scroll to the "Traffic Source Conversion Tracking" section. Set "Tracking Type" to "Postback URL", then paste the postback link you copied from PopAds into the "Postback URL" field.
Now you'll need to replace a couple of things in that url - replace "impressionId" with "{external}", and replace "conversionValue" with "{payout}.
For example if this was the postback url you copied from PopAds:
Then the final postback url in Funnelflux should look like:
http://serve.popads.net/cpixel.php?s2s=1&aid=longstring&id={external}&valu e={payout}
(Note: There should be no spacing within the url - it's a vbulletin glitch.)
Don't click "Save" yet - we're not done!
Again, you only need to set up the postback url for each traffic source on Funnelflux ONCE. You'll never have to do this for PopAds again for all subsequent campaigns you create for PopAds on this Funnelflux account.
7)Change PopAd's tracking tokens on Funnelflux
-Next let's add some tracking tokens. PopAds has more tracking tokens than just the 7 Funnelflux has put in the traffic source template. I'd like to suggest what I feel are more useful tokens than the ones included in the template. Replace the PopAds tokens in Funnelflux as follows:
(When you run out of token spots, simply click on the big plus sign at the bottom to add more.)
If you want to copy and paste instead of typing everything in, you can find a completely list of PopAds tracking tokens here:
https://www.popads.net/kb/advertiser
Obviously there are more tokens available than the number of slots provided, but I've included the ones that I feel would actually provide some new data on top of what Funnelflux is already tracking.
-
Please especially triple-check that you don't have ANY typos in the "Token" column - PopAds needs to recognize those in order to replace them with actual values for storing in Funnelflux.
And don't forget to click "Save Traffic Source" when you're done!
8)Create a campaign in Funnelflux for PopAds
We've created a campaign for PropellerAds above. So I'll be more brief in my instructions for creating a campaign for PopAds.
-In Funnelflux click on "Funnels" from the left menu > "+ New" > "Create Funnel".
-In the "Create Funnel" window, for the "Funnel Name" field, put a name to identify your campaign similar to what we did before, keeping in mind which offer you've chosen to run on PopAds - we've already covered campaign name format above.
For "Parent Funnel Group" either select an existing one or create a new one (as described above).
-Click "Save and Open Editor". You already have experience in setting up the PropellerAds campaign. Try to set up a similar funnel for the offer you'll be running on PopAds! Don't forget to save the funnel!
-
Again - this step you don't need to do right now, but in a later lesson when I ask you to copy the tracker campaign url for the PopAds campaign, please come back to Funnelflux > "Funnels" in left menu > find the right Funnel Group and click to expand it to find the funnel we just created > click on the "Open in Funnel Editor" icon, put your cursor on the "TRAFFIC" element and right-click > select "Send Traffic Here", click inside the "Traffic Source" field and select PopAds, and finally click "Copy URL".
***************
Next, let's take that PropellerAds campaign url we generated, and set up a campaign on PropellerAds!

Added step 1: Deciding which offer to run on which traffic network. Thus no longer matching offers from a specific aff network with a specific traffic network. This is in case the newbie affiliate did not get accepted to all networks.
Rewrote the rest of the lesson to align with change above.

Hello, Amy
What to do if both of my AM from haka and mobipium have not provided recommended offers for me?

Here is detailed post about Haka from @
twinaxe. You may find lots of ideas.
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...Direct-Linking
You can also open the landers from the offers, and see what inspires you.

Other than that - test away!
Or: Just wait a few days for your AMs to get back to you. They may be very busy taking care of many affiliates. Follow up every few days and you'll probably hear back. Polite and patient but persistent is the way to go.

It's OK, but you may want to check the campaign frequently to make sure to not let anything "over-run" - for example cut placements that have spent too much money and not converting, or pause an offer that has spent too much without converting.
Next time you set up a campaign, try setting the campaign option "After approval:" to "Pause". This way the campaign will be on pause after it is approved, until you set it to run.

You're not stupid - the various user interfaces are always changing and I can't possibly keep up with the updates. Just click the "Save" button at the top.

Step 3 fails to save into Propeller "new traffic source" . A message appears - "source already exists". All I could do was change the "Postback URL" in the existing Propeller record. I don't know if this is correct? They have a propeller stored in the POP type

Step 5. PopAds won't let me create a company if I follow the instructions. When I click on the "create a company" button, I get the following message - "As you are willing to create your first campaign with budget of $2.50, the amount of $2.50 will be charged from your PopAds account balance. You can always move funds from campaign budget back to PopAds account balance using Empty Budget button in Campaign settings."

Do you mean when you're trying to add PropellerAds as a new traffic source into Funnelflux?
Easiest way would be to delete it and add it again from the template Funnelflux provides for PropellerAds.
1)Delete:
2)Add:
Any additional problems, let me know.

Just acknowledge that message - it should have a button you can click on. It's just an FYI message to let you know that PopAds is assigning $2.50 to that new campaign.

How should I replace it?
Thanks a lot

Just answered your question - in another thread:
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post436378
Basically just make sure the final link you save into Funnelflux is in this format, with the {external} and {payout} variables:
http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=whatever&pid=&tid=whatever&visi tor_id={external}&payout={payout}
I don't know why PropellerAds updated that link - those variables look incorrect.

You're right Amy, I set every link by following tutorial, but finally my target link didn't work,I can't open that link,I would paste my links for you to help me find the error out(I have checked over 10 times,seems useless........)
The original Global Postback URL comes from FunnelFux:
https://digtreasure8.com/pb/?hit=REP...CE&rev=REPLACE
The modified postback inserted to HAKA:https://digtreasure8.com/pb/?hit={keyword}&rev={payout}
The original offer link:https://trx-affiliate.com/trclck?hash=56467&pid=2887&aid={your_source_id}&ke yword={your_click_id}&keyword2={app_name/site_name}&keyword3={your_session_id}
The modified offer link ( inserted to Bace offer URL in FunnelFux):https://trx-affiliate.com/trclck?hash=56467&pid=2887&aid={trafficsource-id}&keyword={hit}
The original Propeller S2S postback link:http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=3555035&pid=&tid=110866&visitor _id={trackingfield-visitor_id}&payout={flux_payout}
(This link generated automaticly after I chose the tracker,this is the screenshot:

The modified traffic link (inserted to Traffic Source in FunnelFux):http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=3555035&pid=&tid=110866&visitor _id={external}&payout={payout}
The campaign link comes from FunnelFux:https://digtreasure8.com/fts/1h6T4L0UoYTh-1gjAjJNElA9Y?campaign={campaignid}&external=${SUBI D}&zone={zoneid}
(I got this link by clicking button of the "TRAFFIC" element and right-click > select "Send Traffic Here">Click inside the "Traffic Source" field and select PropellerAds>Click "Copy URL")
I don't know why the campaign link doesn't work.....
Thanks for you patience

Don't worry - we'll figure this out eventually. I have infinite patience for affiliates that are willing to put in the work. Things are always difficult in the beginning - it will get easier!
OK so the good news is that your links all look correct.
The bad news of course is that it's still not working.
So I'll need to dig deeper, by taking a look at:
1)Your FF tracking domain + Cloudflare setup <-- I'm guessing this is where the issue is.
2)Your FF campaign funnel.
But BEFORE I do that, a question for you: Did you register a new domain JUST for use as the FF tracking domain and nothing else? If you're using the domain of an existing site, that can make things complicated. And domains are so, so cheap these days!
If you did NOT register a new domain for FF, please do that now, set up that domain on Cloudflare and use that as the FF tracking domain. Then create your campaign on FF again, generate a new campaign url, put that in your browser to see if you can see the offer.
If you still can't get it to work after that, please let me know, and PM me the login information of:
1)Your Cloudflare account
2)Your Funnelflux tracker
(After we finish troubleshooting, you can change the passwords. Alternatively, you can share the logins with me via LastPass, then revoke access afterwards. I'll PM your my LastPass email just in case.)
Sound like a plan?

You're always right Amy, the issue was generated because of track domain,I used the existing domain,after someone comes from FunnelFux guided me to get a new subdomain,the problem disappeared,now I can open my campaign link,pretty complex because I don't know I need another new domain for tracking,I thought I can use the existing domain....
Thank you Amy, I can't thank you enough, I love this place, I love the atmosphere in STM,you're pretty friendly~
