Mobile Marketing Journey To 1,000 Daily Profit- Beast mode on!

so ive finally grew some balls and decided to take on mobile marketing. Ive thought alot about it and it still seems like a viable source of untapped, cheap traffic. So as the others go im going to post stats/logs/conversions ect. My ultimate goal is to hit 1k/daily profit for a solid 2 months with mobile ppc. Im going to keep this up for 2 months.

Traffic sources: admob, jumptap, airpush

tracking: prosper 202 for now until i get hasoffers tracking

To do list: research offers , set up tracking , make banners

will post more info in a bit

It's a VERY viable source for $xx,xxx profit a day. I know too many people doing big numbers with it right now. You've got extremely realistic goals, and sometimes when you hit $1k, it's pretty easy for that $1k to jump to $3k.

There are a couple INTL wap offers killing it right now, pull out your phone and your friends phones and start researching! You'll quickly find some trending offers

Ive decided to keep my journal very simple and straight forward

what ive done so far .

Ive found my offer which is a payout of $7.00 for a pin submit , ive made 10 banners for it

here are what most of them look like

*feel free to critique*
now time to set up tracking on jumptap , i feel like the overages trick wont really work this type of offer, but i will try that as well

Just keep this in mind:

For Android alone, every day 700,000 new devices get activated.

If that isn't motivation I don't know what is.

Good luck!

Would you guys recommend these tracking parameters? JT_CAMPAIGN JT_HANDSET JT_PUBLISHER JT_OPERATOR im using prosper and entering these on the c 1-4 lines

12-28-2011 10:11 PM #6 maverick (Member)

I also recommend using JT_KEYWORD, as it says what category the conversion came from. It's better sometimes just to direct link from the aff network without using prosper, depends what hosting you have.

12-28-2011 11:12 PM #7 403flux (Member)

I would recommend using the JT_SITE token as well, much more useful than the JT_PUBLISHER at least to start. And break down each campaign down to carrier so that's one less variable you will have to track unless you really want to.

ex) RandomDatingOffer - ATT or RandomDatingOffer - Sprint

I second what maverick said about just using the network tracking as opposed to Prosper, too many redirects = lost clicks. If you're paranoid about the network jacking your data, keep in mind the user agent and handset data will be passed to the network anyways. Chase the redirects to make sure your offer isn't brokered across 5 different networks and DO NOT target wifi traffic, at least to start.

@stackman, is there an easy way to research INTL WAP offers and traffic sources?

For web based offers, one could use proxies, alexa, compete etc to figure out ads, traffic sources etc....any tips on doing something similar for WAP offers?

Update:

Okay so i set up tracking using these tokens in my c1-4 variables c1=JT_OPERATOR&c2=JT_HANDSET&c3=JT_KEYWORD&c4=JT_S ITE&t202kw=

i set up 2 campaigns on jump tap

1 for ios/iphones

1 androids

im targeting Us traffic and have 3 different ad copies per campaign , there on mobile sites not apps and im using banner ads. Hopefully i can pry some data although i cant seem to find an AM on yeahmobi to help me test the pixel ..any advice or am i looking good so far?

12-29-2011 05:55 AM #10 403flux (Member)

Not familiar with yeahmobi so I'm not sure how their tracking works but DO NOT use pixels for mobile, they are very unreliable.

I don't use 202 tracking for mobile but I hear you can use the postback URL, not sure how reliable it is but its probably better than the pixel.

You may or may not want to use JT_ADBUNDLE in there to track your creatives, up to you, personally I do.

I feel I have to comment here....why do people try to use 202 or cpvlab to track mobile when they first start out?

both will not be accurate at all when doing mobile traffic...so why use something that wont work right...that just looses more clicks?

I keep seeing threads like this and I don't understand it....just push it to the network....

once you have your data sorted....then you can blank what you need to...

last I knew no one robs from a poorman.....testing an offer = poorman

I will always choose accurate data over the worry of some network jacking my shit....

with accurate data I can make accurate decisions....

just my 2 cents

^^^^^^ Yeah. The more links you have in the chain the more you reduce your chances of conversion. 202 & cpvlab ain't designed for it - no matter how much they cliam to have speeded their stuff up.

yes, I keep hearing that... I have this campaign with a landing page for example, and I track it with p202. there is the extra step with the landing page anyway, yeah the less the better but sometimes you cannot avoid redirects. Honestly I do not see major difference (maybe its time for me to measure it precisely) between tracking with p202 and going direct. I see major difference between networks and even greater difference between countries on the same ads networks ! My idea was : track with p202 to find winning combinations, then go direct when you are scaling and want massive traffic with what you know work.
Cheers

thats exactly what im doing

update:

so my stats are pretty bad which is expected , 0 conversions out of 196 clicks to the offer from the banner , not really sure if i should make new banners, find a new offer, or continue with this and cut low volume publishers/campaigns/phones ect. and re-launch the campaign to see if i get any conversions. Im going to take polar bacons advice and go direct , and use neverblues tracking for this. on another note I might have something promising using mobile traffic not gonna out it , but we'll see whats good

so far -$50

What is your offer and CTR?

12-30-2011 01:56 AM #17 xrproto (Member)

Is using a php redirect to manage your network links OK with mobile? I was guilty of using 202 at first and was like WTF...kicked it right away.

12-30-2011 04:39 PM #18 leber026 (Member)

Ya I don't see php as being a problem, just make sure its not bloated code and the server can handle the traffic. Don't use something with alot of sessions variables on shared hosting like hostgator.

ya a simple php redirect is good....and easy to swap change or pass variable thru as needed....

Just make sure not to give up if your ads don't get approved. Sometimes it takes a while grinding out ad approvals before you get a camp live, and even then it could take some time to get something profitable.
Make sure to consistently put up ads and don't be satisfied w/ just getting 1 campaign up. I always assume my ads will get denied so I'm actively working on a second, third, and sometimes fourth set of ads for a particular camp.
