Setting up Push Smartlink Campaign in Voluum

Hello Vortex,

I'd like to add the Mobipium Push Smarklink Multi-Geo campaign to Voluum.

When settting up Mobipium as a new Affiliate Network in Voluum is there any Advanced Paramaters that need to be set up in the menu?

When setting up the offer in Voluum, Voluum wants me to add a {clickid} token to my offer URL. What would that look like?

Also, once I get the offer set up correctly, I assume I'd set the campaign up as a direct link campaign?

And then would I use my Voluum Campaign URL in PopAds instead of the URL directly out of Mobipium?

Thanks,
Anita

I know in 40 days tutorial is explained exactly but I would be interested in the small tutorial synonymous ;-)) Greeting ken_proxy

Set it up like this:

Once you add the advanced parameters to your affiliate network setup, Voluum will advice you to add "clickid={clickid}" to the offer url.

Also, once I get the offer set up correctly, I assume I'd set the campaign up as a direct link campaign?
Exactly. To be able to create a campaign you need to have an offer and traffic source element in your Voluum account. The rest is additional. When you don't have a landing page, select 'Direct linking' option.

And then would I use my Voluum Campaign URL in PopAds instead of the URL directly out of Mobipium?
Yes, you need to use Voluum campaign url (and not Mobipium's offer url) to be able to track traffic you get. Once you create a campaign in Voluum, copy the campaign url by clicking the Copy button and submit it to PopAds.

Thank you, Karolina...

I'm pretty close to getting it. I had my new affiliate network advanced parameters set up that way and then deleted them. Should have trusted myself.

Thanks,
Anita

I blew through $5 adspend in Propeller ads in a few mins and I showed no conversions in Voluum. Didn't like it. Especially when I have been losing on doing the newbie 40Day work with offers/spying/landers and losing there. I really wanted to do this project to be in the green when I was optimizing.

I may have added the click id to the offer URL incorrectly?
I added this to the end of the FINAL Mobipium offer link.... &clickid={clickid}
You can see the whole thing in the above screenshot...

Also... I set my campaign in Propeller Ads to be a SmartCPM campaign -- was that a good thing to do? Or should it just be a CPM campaign?

Thanks again.

Don't Make These Mistakes "$1 Guide-Make Your First Conversion" using Voluum Tracker

My campaign visitors were showing up, but my conversions weren't showing up in Voluum, nor did they show up in PopAds dashboard.

I waited around a while hoping a Moderator would help me out. Then I got super determined to figure out why. And the whole time there's a voice saying this the only way you'll really learn.

It was tracking issue obviously. So I went back to this mega-important post.
Want To UNDERSTAND Tracking? Read This Now.

"MOBIPIUM/Voluum-TRACKER/POPADS" WAY vs "MOBIPIUM/POPADS" WAY
You can't use the same linking structure! (makes sense... [now]. After hair-pulling)

OFFER/CAMPAIGN URL FOR USE IN THE TRAFFIC SOURCE

  1. Tracking via PopAds' dashboard, you'll use the "offer" URL from Mobipium (after adding some code) directly as the PopAds ad campaign URL.
  2. Tracking via Voluum tracker, you'll add different code to the offer URL, and then add the offer to a campaign in Voluum, and then use the Voluum campaign URL as the PopAds ad campaign URL.

POSTBACK URL FOR USE ON MOBIPIUM'S PIXEL PAGE

  1. Tracking via PopAds' dashboard, you'll use a popads.net postback URL (after switching out some code).
  2. Tracking via Voluum tracker, you'll use your own personal postback URL (set up in Voluum from the start) with (after the "?") tokens code automatically generated and added for you via the "affiliate network" setup menu Advanced Parameters (see previous post above)

Below scr shot shows differences in the URLs (changed for protection)

Absolutely correct! Good work @anitaway! And thanks @Voluum for the massive help!

I want to say sorry I didn't get to your post yesterday, but all's well that ends well. There is indeed enough information on tracking here on STM to help you figure things out - and after your ordeal, you now have a much better idea of how tracking links and tokens work. How awesome is that?

Moreover - I was meaning to write a post like this, but since you already have, I can now just link to your post when someone asks.

Thanks so much for your contribution! You're a true STM'er - learning and sharing is what our community is about.

Amy

(P.S. All your links look correct - but are you seeing conversions in Voluum now? If not please let me know so I could take another look.)

Yes, seeing conversions in Voluum now. However, cutting GEO's from my PopAds campaign made my ROI actually worse.

I heard if you sticky my post I'll get brownie points in the STM Levels System.

Have you paused all the geos Mobipium told us to?

If you're still sending traffic to geos that are no longer accepted by Mobipium, then they won't convert - which will definitely make ROI go down.

Another possibility for the drop in ROI is that as more and more people are running the exact same thing on the same traffic source, saturation will be inevitable.

Haha having a post stickied won't add THAT many points - you've been receiving so many thanks, you're close to advancing to level 2.

Thanks anitaway! I had the same mistake and finally I could fix it!

BTW, what URL you insert in "traffic sources"?

Manuelaat, I have never set up a Traffic Source Postback URL in a Voluum Traffic Source set up menu. Being a newb myself, I havent been concerned with firing conversions back to the traffic source. So I don't know how to do this. Here is the page inside Voluum's help manual: Traffic Source Postback URL

"Generally postback URLs include unique parameters defined by the source to send specific data variables when requested."
I tried to find PopAds' unique parameters, but I couldn't figure it out.

I included the above quote from Karolina's previous post in the thread regarding setting up Advanced Parameters in a "New Affiliate Network" menu, so maybe she'll see the quote and answer your question.

Thanks for your advice Anitaway!

I hope you can help me with some parameters, which I do not know if they are correct. I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm just trying to know if I do something wrong. Because I can't see my conversions yet .

1.- In the affiliate network just insert these parameters:

Name:	an.png
Views:	28
Size:	151.9 KB
ID:	21640

2.- In traffic sources I need to leave in blank like this:

Name:	traffic.png
Views:	26
Size:	170.9 KB
ID:	21641

3.- In offers, I just need to insert the URL (with some changes) likes this:

Name:	offers1.png
Views:	27
Size:	196.7 KB
ID:	21642

Name:	offers2.png
Views:	19
Size:	162.8 KB
ID:	21643

4.- And finally in campaigns tab just need to copy the final URL and paste in the traffic source (in my case PopAds):

Name:	campaign1.png
Views:	25
Size:	168.2 KB
ID:	21644

thanks for your help!

@manuelaat All looks good!

Just a heads up though about costs: The costs that are passed back from popads to Voluum will not be accurate. Here are the options at our disposal:

https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post374401

I forgot to mention a 6th option: Pass conversion data to the traffic source, so when you're looking at stats within the traffic source, you'd know which placement has made how many conversions.

You could then export that data as a spreadsheet, and use e.g. excel formulas to figure out the revenue for each placement - which would in turn allow you to calculate the profit/loss per placement.

@manuelaat
I can see my Mobipium conversions in Voluum, I set up Traffic Source Postback URL as mentioned here: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...inite-Learning

Look at Voluum + Mobipium + PopAds configuration on Day 2, hope it helps!

Hey Amy!

I just realized what you mention on your last post about Voluum not being accurate for popads cost. This is really frustrating because I though I had several profitable campaigns when I was really losing money (not much but still).

I've been trying to figure why does this happen and I think I'm up to something.

I realized that Voluum was not counting (or showing) the popads impressions, but instead it was showing something called "visits" (that I just don't know where it comes from because it's a popunder directly to the offer page) and seams like the cost Voluum shows is the sum of (visit x [bid]), which is totally wrong.

There is a url tag for ImpressionID so I was determined to track this info.

So I went to traffic sources, edited Popads and enabled a button that says "Impression tracking" and now I can see data in the "Impressions" column "only on campaigns created after enabling that function"!!

Now I can see that the Impressions number is indeed higher than those "visits" and seems to be accurate compared with popads data (as for now because I did this today)

Ok... so I'm one step closer

Now I need to figure out how to tell voluum that the cost of my campaign is the sum of ([IMPRESSIOID] x [BID]).

does someone know how to do this?

If I do this, there might still be a clickloss deviation, but it will be way more accurate than what I have now.

As for now, I've been watching the real cost within popads, because I set the popads postback url at voluum (that's how I realized I was loosing money).

I'm also exchanging emails with Voluum support, if I fix this, I'll comeback tell you how.

I'm very happy to be here, I've been reading and learning a lot.

well, have a nice day guys.

Thanks so much for your research! Don't want to rain on your parade - but I'm afraid the "visits" in the tracker and "impressions" at the traffic source are the same thing - at least in the ideal situation where there's no clickloss.

And it's not just clickloss that makes tracker costs inaccurate. But I've already pointed out all the reasons I knew in the above posts.

However - GREAT detective work and PLEASE keep up this type of mindset and effort - if you do make more headway, yes please do come back to let us know!

And so sorry to hear about the loss of money. If it would make you feel better, it cost me several THOUSANDS of dollars to discover this oversight. So...if you feel stupid, no need. Cause it could have definitely been worse.
