Mobile Marketing Like You've NEVER Seen Before

Okay, you've decided to checkout this thread because you want to see what this never seen before mobile marketing method is. Well it is not that new, but I have never heard of any affiliates doing this method.

Anyways here's another method I use to reach those mobile users.

I go to a site like http://www.qrstuff.com/ or google up any other QR code generator and generate one up for my affiliate links.
I then do up some cool cards/stickers/t-shirts and place them in busy high traffic areas where users will likely have their phones on them. So think bus stops, train stations, clubs, bars, schools, malls, movie theaters ect ect... and post up/place/handout your materials.

Here is some examples I've done up and used:

Now you can also try hiring people off of fiverr from large cities to distribute, and ensure you use subid's to track their performance.

Just think of the options. Place them in strip clubs and bars sending users to a Benaughty offer, or in schools and run them to an email submit.

The possibilities are endless

Very clever. The possibilities are indeed endless. Using subid's to track the performance from different distributors and cities is also a good idea.

Very cool ideas man!

How did your tests perform? Did you get any traction?

It's always split. I give areas I target subids so I know where and what performs.
Best performance is the strip clubs and bars/pubs. I've worked out some deals with a few local ones to have my materials inside and in some good placements.

The email submit ones work as well with the younger crowd. I make my own LP's and make it seem more like they are entering their email to a newsletter for their chance to "WIN" and iPad2 or other gadget.

Like in your case studies, you need to find a way to get those visitors to take action and you have to be creative, it's the name of the game.

Sorry my questions weren't right.

I guess I'm asking whether you were able to get profitable with them? If so, what kind of volume did you get out of any strip club or pub?

I'm pretty curious myself lol. This would cost nothing to set up and would be super simple. Creative! I would try posting them up at events, i.e. concerts, and call out the fans somehow. Or anywhere people have to wait in line, make it relevant to the setting; like the opening of the harry potter movie or something when a huge line is backed up, or a game release. Paste a bunch of 'em where people are gonna see them while they wait bored in line. very very interesting! just not sure how you would get huge amounts of traffic aside from the angles i stated above, and even then, not sure. the bar thing isn't a bad idea at all.

Yeah it's profitable, it doesn't cost me anything to set up locally.
I run the benaughty mobile campaigns and rudefinder/justhookup, I'm able to do about 2-3k worth of rev in a week.

With the other stuff it varies a few hundred a day worth of rev.

But like MJDUB mentioned, there are multiple angles to run at.
Heck, I've set up these campaigns for local business for a decent chunk of change.

An idea I'd like to try is hiring a sexy chick to wear a tight shirt with qr codes were the nips would be and have guys scan them to sign up for some dating offer haha

Your potential is only limited by your creativity.....

wow! $2k to $3k..well's let's say you are doing $2500 so that's $357 per day.

How much traffic are you getting and what's the conversion rate like? If you are getting an average of $5 per sign up that means you have around 71 conversions per day.

Thanks

With the dating offers combined, I run at a conv rate of 11-17% depending on the week with anywhere from 6000-10,000+ visitors

just a quick question. I use to do yard signs for affiliate shit and I always ran into problems with local government and the likes trying to pull them up, call me to take down, etc...

do you get permission for the most part to post these in places, or is it mostly stick and dash and move to the next one?

im sure you ask some places ( like the strip club you partner with ), but what about places like the bus stop?

10-16-2011 03:02 PM #11 dudeman79x (Member)

This is were strong adhesive stickers come in handy

But for the clubs and places of business I arrange deals with them. They are like any other business, they'll monetize anyway they can without cannibalizing their own revenues.

ive been doing this same marketing for the last few weeks now.. biggest problem for me is having the stuff stay up. it seems someone always seems to rip the flyers down or remove everything ive put up within a few days.

even the stickers get removed.

in order to make this work, you really need to keep up with it and return to where you started and hit it again after a few days and just keep doing it over and over

Yeah, I've had some issues with my post cards, stickers are the best for public places. Inside business's I haven't had much troubles. I leave a stack of cards and stickers for them.

I've had some success as well generating these for local business, realtors, lawyers, dentists and car dealerships.

Great Share winning!
I feel like most people in the US don't have a QR Code Scanner in their smart phone. I feel like pointing them to their app store, having them them download the app would kill 99% of the traffic. Is there an easier way i am not seeing?

10-17-2011 12:30 AM #15 zeno (Administrator)

Yeah, how would you recommend getting people to figure out how to scan the QR code if they don't already recognise it? I haven't heard of or seen them in NZ and I don't think many of my friends would have a clue what to do when they see one.

10-17-2011 12:43 AM #16 Mr Green (Administrator)

I have seem them around in NZ. But like you said I don't know many people who actually know how to use the things.

I highly doubt it would be worth it in NZ, however seems to be working well in US.

Last time I asked "What is that ?", now my smartphone has a barcode scanner

10-17-2011 09:54 AM #18 tijn (Moderator)

How easy is it to get a shortcode that people could text to instead of a QR code?

Alternatively you could just get a sms number at a place like http://www.twilio.com/ and build a simple workflow that replies with a URL, and then sends another reminder the next day.

Not sure twilio is international yet though.

Perhaps our lagging smartphone market can be blamed a bit here.

I remember QR codes being around a LONG ass time ago and now the surgence is coming in strong. I see them in big stores around here in the US.

Most people are like, what is that and after seeing it for a while will DL the QR code reader app and then use it. I think for sure it will become easier for people to use.

Top 10 countries for mobile barcode usage (excluding Japan) Q4/2010

According to 3GVision, these reports are based on the total number of QRcode, Datamatrix and UPC/EAN scans as recorded by the i-nigma system during the period. Due to i-nigma’s worldwide prominence, these results are considered to be an indicator of global mobile barcode activity. Japanese mobile barcode activity, known to be ahead in popularity and usage, was excluded.

Have you been having success with putting up qr codes on stickers around your city?

You must have a wide reach. That is a ton of people holding there phones up to your ads. What kind of a traffic reach do you have? Are you plastered all over your city or are you getting this with 3 or 4 concentrated areas (clubs, etc.)?

A chain of clubs mostly.

An epic STM case study is coming up using QR codes....should be good!

You should also put a website URL in your postcards that redirects to the offer. Like something simple, www.MyFreeDeal.com/iPad, that way you can capture traffic from people that don't know how to use or have a QR Reader

You are very clever!Thanx for sharing.

Going to hire a kid from craigslist to plaster these all over bars and clubs in my city. Anyone know if I can get in trouble for using images of nude girls?

05-22-2013 03:21 PM #31 stackman (Administrator)

Francis your a boss! Sick idea

To play it safe I'd blur out the nude parts, will keep you a bit safer.

2 things i'd change on the flyer
1. Make the CALL TO ACTION very clear. So place a box around the title/QR code area and just make it more clear
2. Add in a SIMPLE domain they can type in too in case their weary of the QR code. Make it a .com

Where do you plan on posting them? in bars/outside?
I think your best shot would be bars where older men hangout rather then poppin and lockin clubs.
- pool halls
- after work pubs
- small'ish city pubs
..whereever big groups of men 25+ work/hangout who are

Good idea. I think they put stars on the flyers in Vegas. I mean...at least, that's what a friend told me

05-22-2013 10:05 PM #33 francis (Member)

Thanks Stackman. Got 100 printed out in color and it cost me $60 so I'm hoping to at least break even on the first 100 flyers. Going to try split testing the changes you recommended. It's east to track these just using imobitrax and using a subid like flyer1_bar1, flyer2_bar2 etc.

Yeah I was thinking outside strip clubs, dive bars, and adult book stores. Older men are going to be my focus.

When I was printing them out at Fedex the guy working there got all excited and wanted to join the site but didn't have a smartphone so I'm definitely doing a redirect one of my dating URL's, I'll let you guys know how this turns out.
