WhatRunsWhere.com vs Adbeat

Stack,

Saw your post about whatrunswhere.com. Is this similar to Adbeat? Have you looked at both systems?

04-13-2011 12:29 AM #2 stackman (Administrator)

Hey,

I've never actually logged into adbeat, but from friends telling me things it's very similar just whatrunswhere has more ad networks to choose from and options to search more indepth into each domain. I can say though adbeat is backed by a much larger company than whatrunswhere and has a cleaner design/interface. Everything on my post is 100% accurate so you can kind of compare the post details to adbeats features and see which one is better for you, overall it's the same idea, just competition. I also think currently adbeat will have a larger DB because they've been collecting ads for a long time, but whatrunswhere does collect ads from networks adbeat doesn't so within a months it'll be the same.

thanks stack, appreciate the reply

one bad thing about adbeat is that you cannot search ads with more than one keyword.

04-14-2011 03:28 AM #5 stackman (Administrator)

like if you wanted to search 'acai berry' instead of just 'acai'?

I just checked on whatrunswhere for you and you can search multiple keywords.
"This searches the domain and landing page of the advertisement." so pretty much if it finds it, it'll display the ads

Yeah, you cannot search for anything with more than 2 terms on adbeat. Never tried WTW though but did get some beta access when he charging a couple grand for it.

Ah yep i did too, didn't know how many people knew about it. Had the little spy characters on it. I can sadly say though i never used it to it's full potential

Whatrunswhere wins hands down. I have accounts at both.

WhatRunsWhere has better data for affiliates IMO, and AdBeat has a nicer interface. That about sums it up.

Although WhatRunsWhere hasn't been really publicly available for long... it's been running and scraping for well over a year, so there is a ton of data in there.

Seems like WRW just get a new interface as C2M sent an email regarding WRW. Here it is:

Good Morning Convert2Medians,

In case you missed it, I recently did a review over what I believe to be the best Competitive Media Buying Intelligence tool in the Industry. WhatRunsWhere.com was built from a well-known and respected affiliate marketer and is backed by another well-known marketer in the industry whom I've had the priviledge of meeting both at various trade shows in the industry. You can read the review here:

I was just told early this morning of some exciting new features coming to WhatRunsWhere. I wanted to be the first to break these out and let you know what's coming! Here's what Max let me in on this morning that they are working on:

  • New User Interface - I was informed that they are working on a new User Interface that should be finished today or tomorrow.
  • International Data - In the next week or two they will be releasing data for Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
  • Domain Tracking - Soon they will be rolling out a feature that will have the domain tracking being able to update itself when new ads or placements are found for a specific domain.
  • Filtering - I was also told that they are working on a solution that will start filtering affiliate ads VS. Brand ads however it's being a bit tough on them with the amount of data they have.

I'm sure they will prevail!

Are you using WhatRunsWhere? Let me know how you like it and more importantly, send your comments, suggestions and questions over to the WRW Team at:

I suggested this feature - "filtering affiliate ads VS. Brand ads " w00t!

I'll make sure we get a big discount code for the forums.

I second that. That was pretty much my entire gripe w/ adbeat. So much non-aff related branding advertising to filter through before finding anything moderately interesting to an affiliate.

05-19-2011 07:28 AM #13 stackman (Administrator)

^^ ahh good idea, they plan on doing it?

I don't get it. The package with more features are costing $20 less than the other one?

Yeah was wondering the same thing.

05-24-2011 12:27 PM #19 Mr Green (Administrator)

I don't know if that is a odd sales strategy or a mistake since they got their site redesigned today.

If you are thinking of signing up, I would wait. The owner will be offering STM forum members a discount and will run a webinar within the next two weeks.

05-24-2011 03:46 PM #20 extremesg (Member)

As a member of Adbeat, I believe that Mike is working on activating multi-word search... but, since launch, they have added some nice additional features lately, such as the url's targeted within a domain.

That would be great! Will wait then. I'm looking to get into more Media Buys and Banners. This will be of great value.

Hey guys,

Max here from whatrunswhere.com. Thanks for all the feedback. If you have any questions just put them here.

Few things to clear up - 1) our new UI and design is live and super pretty
2) Our package that is $229/month is a recurring billing package, and the other one is a hassle free one month membership, hence the price difference.
3) We're working on a few features like expansion to ca, au and uk, domain tracking (notification on when new ads or placements for a domain are found) and the advanced filtering, not sure when those are going to be done, but we're going as fast as possible.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback!

05-25-2011 07:01 PM #23 truninja (Member)

The $249 is per one month one time only - the $20 less one is for membership access per month

05-26-2011 04:22 AM #24 bluegreen (Member)

Hi Max:

Are you going to be doing a webinar/discount for STM forums?

If so, I'll wait to sign-up

Cheers ...

05-26-2011 05:09 AM #25 mattaw ()

BlueGreen, we will be doing one in about 2 weeks time, and yes there should be a promo code associated with that if you guys behave

05-26-2011 05:46 AM #26 systematicprofits (Member)

Hey Max, Lorenzo or others that have access to both tools,
Can u let us know what are the key differences between Adbeat and WhatRunsWhere? I have been on Adbeat for a while, but i have never been on WRW. I like to know what will make me pay $100+ more per month.

I do have some gribes with Adbeat, sometimes i can't find any info for offers that i know is doing well. One very good example is dream-marriage.com. I know it does well, but there is absolutely no information on any of the 20 ad networks! I am not sure if WRW is the same, or will it be more better than Adbeat in this sense.

look forward to hear any advice from anyone,
Henry

Hey Max, Looks like I found a tiny bug on your home page:

"What People Are Saying About Us

Ryan Eagle, ewanetworks.com" - should be ewanetwork.com (no 's'), lol

Henry:

Our main difference is we have a LOT more data
we have more networks, scrape almost 10x more sites for data
have easier searching options
allow you to look stuff up by domain (So you can find exactly what your looking for)
We give more indepth information
We give you a wider scope of whats running online
We have intl coming shortly (not a difference yet, but it will be)
And our team is just so damn good looking..........

PM me here and I'd be happy to arrange a demo for you of the software. I'll put it this way, haven't met an adbeat member yet that's seen what we do and stayed with adbeat (everyone comes over to us ).

Hey Matt,
Pmed you.

05-26-2011 02:49 PM #30 extremesg (Member)

With WRW... can you see the destination urls for EVERY ad network...? With Adbeat, that's not possible currently.

07-18-2011 02:48 PM #31 mattaw ()

I just want to respond here because I didn't see Mike's reply, we both respect robots.txt and work with various partners to ensure that advertisers take little to no cost based on our efforts (obviously we can't stop CPM costs from happening).

msm7000: didn't see your question either, we have quite a few more including: bluelithium, burst ads, rubicon, adside, interclick and almost every other network in the world (a bunch just haven't been classified yet, but the data is still there)

Hi Guys,

this is my first post (yep Newb!)

Anyhow, enjoying this thread and info and wanted to add or ask, 'what about kantarmedia'.

How do you Guys differ from them?

Are you Guys better worse etc?

Also i wanted to mention, do the tools that you have 'Whatrunswhere' and Abeat', do they do USA only or do they include other countries also and if so which ones?

Are there other tools that do the same as kantarmedia, 'Whatrunswhere' and Abeat', and again do the other tools have data for other countires (UK, Canada, USA, Europe, Brazil etc)

Cheers

Any updates to these products reviews?

05-10-2012 02:48 AM #34 mattaw ()

Jesus, sorry for the delay here!

We cover more sites than Kantar and are MUCH cheaper. We also cover different types of data and make insights out of our data (no one else does this right now).

Adbeat is US only. WhatRunsWhere is in 7 countries (US, UK, CA, AU, Spain, Germany and France).........

Obviously I'm biased....

If anyone wants to pm me or email me at max@whatrunswhere.com I'm happy to help at any time...

05-10-2012 02:53 AM #35 mattaw ()

Forgot to mention, since then we've released a new user interface that kicks ass, new data sets and new features called actionable insights where we make more connections with our data to help you buy smarter!

05-10-2012 03:27 AM #36 extremesg (Member)

I'm an ex AdBeat user. Won't be going back there ever. Updates are too slow / non existent. Mike has been dragging his balllls for a year, whilst the competition overtook.

Am on the trial with WWR - So far loving it...

whatrunswhere for sure!

<3 I've always found Mattaw fkn inspiring as ever,

WRW is the industry best.

AWww! I love you too. You should email or call me sometime and chat.

05-11-2012 04:04 PM #40 mrgodlike (Member)

just came back to WRW from adbeat.

Really like the UI update. Everything seems to run faster too.

05-11-2012 05:14 PM #41 mattaw ()

It does. Our speed is up over 50x, you can bookmark pages now to save certain info instead of having to refind it and we're launching a host of new things in the future too

Nice,

Btw have a few suggestions unless I'm just not seeing it:

A way to export domains in a csv file is possible when you're on the "traffic sources" part of the advertiser tab. And then If there was a way to export it based on the way you sort the results as well (like days seen list from Highest to Lowest).

Implementing adstrength to KW search.

05-12-2012 05:06 PM #43 mattaw ()

Ad strength is being re added to keyword search.

And you can just sort the data in excel?

Max
