Hey guys,
I have tried for a while to crack the ipad/iphone (pin submit) using display banners but they did not pan out.
Here are the combination I have tested:
Traffic 1: megaclick
Traffic 2: fileserve
Banners group 1: Ads with "congrats! you won!" or "1 message waiting" etc.
Banners group 2: Ads with more "wow" factor, then presell with copy: are you smart enough to win the iphone/ipad? etc.
Landing page 1: contest - you won!
Landing page 2: partly iframe with steps to claim the free gift.
Landing page 3: direct linking
I am wondering:
1. The angle I tested work for PPV but not for banner display?
2. How to drive profitable traffic to this vertical by using display banner?
3. Or should I keep the angles/concepts and test other traffic sources?
Guys, pls share your insight and I will do a follow along base on the input.
Thanks!
If a stranger told you that you won a $500 phone/tablet, would you believe him?
Find a way to make it believable.
That's the secret.
hahaha awesome answer deondup.. but easier said than done
Those offers give you the most room for creativity. Because its a "sale" you don't really run the risk of poor quality leads. You really need to think outside the box...
Think of a demographic and why they may "qualify" for a free iPad. Make it seem difficult yet relevant...
try building a list.
create a squeeze page and create a simple ebook teaching them the little known secrets to getting free products that retail stores don't want them to know about.
Just an FYI, I've done millions of dollars in revenue in these verticals, and throwing around the word "free" in your banners is the quickest route to filing for bankruptcy. Don't use the word "Free." Just a friendly tip as my first post on STM.
Agreed. Also you need to have several of the same offers on the backend. If not tyour whole model and profitability can disapear overnight as many of the backends have large scrubs in place to adjust for rpu. The way I personally do mine is on a rpu rev share this way there is no scrub and providing my traffic "backs out" I can buy consistently to a real number.
Tough vertical with banners. Stick with pops. And yes, run coreg.
