Don't Mess with Facebook!

Message from Facebook Ads

Hi,

Facebook will not tolerate behavior that users may find annoying or abusive, or that violates our Terms of Use or Advertising Guidelines. You have used the account associated with xxxx@xxx.com to submit ads that are explicitly prohibited by our ad policies. As a result, your account has been permanently disabled.
Lesson, no more naughty dating offers.

08-15-2011 09:27 PM #2 movid (Member)

Do they only disable the ad section of the account or the entire account?

08-15-2011 09:41 PM #3 klax (Member)

entire account

08-15-2011 09:46 PM #4 getgreen (Member)

Specifically what were you doing that caused this?

08-16-2011 01:34 AM #7 Mr Green (Administrator)

08-16-2011 01:47 AM #8 zeno (Administrator)

08-16-2011 02:03 AM #9 stackman (Administrator)

They REALLY don't like the boobs lol.

Also I've had a couple accounts banned and they never disabled the personal accounts on them.

Hmm I am still able to use my main account after the bann hammer, just the advertising section isn't working anymore...

08-16-2011 10:16 AM #14 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

i got the folllowing message a couple minutes ago when i tried to login:

"Account Unavailable

Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience."

does anybody know what that means? i hope it's really just a maintenance and not a ban

08-16-2011 10:20 AM #15 movid (Member)

^^ I had that too a few weeks ago, scared the shit out of me because I just had an ad up that FB probably didn't like. But it was just a technical error. Just log off and on again or switch browsers and you're probably good to go

08-16-2011 10:22 AM #16 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

working again now..puhh that message really scared me..

08-16-2011 10:33 AM #17 manutv (Member)

I was doing bait and switch on one of my accounts (which some folks here warned me not to but i kept doing it, my bad) and I was banned last week. The account is fine, but I lost access to the ads interface.

The interesting this is...I wasn't running anything shady for a couple of weeks before the ban. Their email said my ads violate their terms, but when I go to ad manager, it says the account has been disabled for suspicious payment activity. So I'm not sure exactly why it was banned lol

08-16-2011 10:35 AM #18 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

if it's disabled for supsicious payment activity try to contact their billing departement..i had the same problem once and got it back

All my suspended accounts where complete disabled, including the profile which I used to create pages for the bait and switch. Probably it was the severity, (benaughty, flirt, rude finder, dream marriage, etc.)

08-20-2011 03:24 AM #21 redhart (Member)

i just got my account banned after starting my first campaign i can't find what i did wrong.

08-20-2011 03:29 AM #22 lavish (Member)

Post up the campaign bro.

08-20-2011 03:46 AM #23 redhart (Member)

it was a wizard101 campaign with that as copy and a picture of the game i used a prosper202 link to track and thats it:
Become a wizard!
Fight monsters and Train dragons
Join over 20 MILLION players
Join Wizard 101 Now for FREE!

08-20-2011 01:23 PM #24 lavish (Member)

You really got banned for that? I don't think so. Was there something wrong with your payment details?

08-20-2011 01:34 PM #25 redhart (Member)

i dont think so they said in the email it was due to to many ad that violated their term. I don't understand i had that copy an another similar each with 20 img (all from the game) to split test they all got approved and started running got a couple of click then i got banned.

08-20-2011 01:47 PM #26 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

it really makes no sense..your ad is perfectly fine..the facebook ad team is full of shit....try to get a new account-

ps: did you use the facebook uploader tool? maybe you submitted to many ads at once (300+)?

08-20-2011 02:04 PM #27 redhart (Member)

nope i uploaded the 40 ads by hand

Were you using your own self-hosted prosper202 or the free tracking202 that they host? What was it linking to - directly to the game or did you have a landing page?

Seems weird man. If your account was legit in every way that is. Often they well ban you for something but the canned response is generic.

08-21-2011 05:48 AM #29 hd2010 (Member)

you should read the Facebook Ad Guideline...

No Big Cap
no wording of free

Thats what I believe what FB pissoff about your ad

Oh yeah you're right, should have looked at the ad copy a bit closer.
Excessive capitalisation. Exclamation marks. FREE!

That and the 20 MILLION thing - again capitals, and are there 20 million players? I don't know, but if there isn't and Facebook knows this then that would be an excessive claim.

Although I'm surprised they banned you straight off for that.

08-21-2011 09:10 AM #31 redhart (Member)

they reach 20 million the 6 july. But yeah its probably the caps and free thing what i don't understand is why they accepted the ad copy if it was against their guideline. As for prosper i was using the self hosting platform and i was linking directly to the offer. Anyway i am gonna have to find another traffic source.

08-21-2011 09:23 AM #32 hd2010 (Member)

just open a new account, some of people advertise that offer on FB, it is not FB fault.

08-21-2011 12:18 PM #33 harniti (Member)

Guys do you suggest using separate Facebook accounts for ads on VPN network? Do they ban accounts from the same Ip address?

08-21-2011 02:14 PM #34 hd2010 (Member)

@harniti : maybe same cc, just make sure your ip is from your same country

In short, you mean, we can use the same CC for different facebook accounts (even when a few are banned) provided the IP address of these persons are from the same country, eg. USA. ! Just confused out here.. Please clarify.

08-21-2011 03:45 PM #36 hd2010 (Member)

Sorry does not mean to confuse you, different cc is needed, just amek sure your ip is origin from the country you're from... try it out and let us know

Well that answers my question. Thanks.. !

Right now, I created a new account with the same address, new cc (I might have used it on another account, not sure at 100%) and I've capped my 50 bucks budget for today Let's see if it sticks

Does anyone have any experience redirecting users on page "like?"

I have never done this before...but seems like a good strategy. What do you think? Does FB Hate It?

Would love some thoughts.

I would imagine they don't like you doing anything that redirects users away from Facebook without their explicit consent. There might also be something in their page/app terms about it.

Also, if you mean hiding page content and forcing them to like the page and then subsequently redirecting them, I doubt they would allow it. Would be the same as redirecting at an external url landing page.

Remember Facebook is all about protecting their users and user experience. So anything cool/tricky you dream up is likely to be deemed inappropriate or in violation of some term somewhere.

That being said, Bait & Switch ftw. Although probably a bit easier to get caught with pages since Facebook controls them.

I read thru the page terms and conditions and unless I missed something...i didnt see anything about them not allowing it. I know what you mean about taking them off of facebook...I was hoping there was someone w/ experience that has done this and has some advice to give. Any takers?

What kinda of stuff did the rep ask you?

Do you run normal affiliate stuff on an agency account?

09-02-2011 01:25 PM #50 numerouno (Member)

What I do, what kind of clients do I have, what's their usual goals, what are my budgets, etc.. It helps as I own a real agency here (we do website development and a bit of IM consulting as well) so I can back myself pretty easily. I always ran normal affiliate stuff while getting banned, never did any cloaking or anything like that, my ads are just too awesome
