Free Version of Voluum -- Useful or Worthless?
I shot zeno a message about this same question but in all seriousness, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who wants his autograph.
Because I'm a virgin to the AM campaign game I want to start using a free tracker as I learn and master the fundamentals. Is Voluum free a good way to go? I'm concerned that because the (I believe domain) of the Voluum free plan has been blacklisted it's going to cost me a huge amount of data and be useless to me. One person has told me to use it, three have said to steer clear -- I'm just trying to garner more opinions so I can make a both informed and objective decision.
I like Voluum because of its cloud storage and evading the need for a VPS. If it is sufficient for my current basic needs my strategy was to utilize it, start making some money (patience is a virtue) and then invest the profits into the paid version of Voluum, etc.
If Voluum free is in fact worthless -- I was thinking of Prosper/STM tracker (both free but require a VPS, correct?) before upgrading to CPVlab or Voluum paid.
I'm just so fresh and trying to avoid some beginner rookie mistakes to save myself some time and heartache. A girl left me in grade 7 for another man, I can't handle any more heartache.
Thanks in advance. Input beyond greatly appreciated!

I can recommend Voluum - and the free version just as good as the paid one, just limited data allowance and reports if I remember it right. I've been using their domain and never had any blacklisted issues, if they would occur there's always the custom domain option.
ps. If you want to make it in AM I fear there will be more heartache than getting dumped

also +1 on Voluum. only restriction for the newb package is data limited to IIRC 100,000 events, which is more than enough for starting off.

As a fellow newb I would totally recommend it... I almost maxed out my event quota last month but I have made enough money to easily justify going over that quota now. It's simple and very user friendly. As you'll be probably running traffic into cheaper and less competitive geo's their large network of global servers gives you one less think to think about. When you are learning so much to begin with, having something that is free and simple makes things that much easier to focus your energies elsewhere.
Had no issues with using their default links and I have been running FB traffic most of the time.
I second the desire for an autograph from Zeno... Wouldn't have had my early success without him!

I understand your concern about the default tracking domain. The blacklisting happened when we were in free Beta and trackvoluum.com had tracked literally billions of visitors across hundreds of accounts.
Since moving out of beta we put in a new domain for the Noobie accounts, voluumtrk.com -- which is not blacklisted. We plan to swap the default tracking domain every few months so it won't be an issue going forward.
I've updated the knowledge base entry for this as it was pretty intense suggesting that the default domain was flagged everywhere..
Thanks!

The free one is good. Maybe only get occasional issues if you plan to use FB or Google..

You got to have your own domain sooner or later. So why not sooner? Just choose a more generally domain name so you can promote different kind of offers.
But Voluum is one of the best tracker to use. They give you free at the start because they know you will continue using them till you become a super affliate.

I appreciate the response -- that sits well with me from the get go, knowing you're that accessible.
Based on all of the recommendations made so far
Voluum is a green light and I'm looking forward to being able to rationalize purchasing the paid version(s) as my progression occurs.

Hello Robert,
My
Voluum account was created when it was in beta and my campaign URL is still *trackvoluum.com but my data usage remains far below the 100.000 events limitation. Since you agree that this domain is a problem to use, I'm now really worried about this. If I manage to become successful at some point, I want to keep using voluum because I'm used to it and I like it but paying $100/mo just to have my own domain doesn't make it the most cost effective tracking solution and minimizing costs is very important for me right now.
So is there anything I can do to get the newest *voluumtrk.com campaign URL for my free voluum account? If there isn't, can I just make a new one maybe?
I didn't know about this blacklisting issue and this is urgent for me because I'm currently running traffic with voluum. I hope this can be easily solved.
Thanks

Hey badimo,
Of course! Feel free to sign up for another Noobie account, that way you'd get access to the voluumtrk.com domain.
As for the blacklisting, it is a little bit exaggerated, we only ever had a couple of users actually encounter issues using trackvoluum.com - but to be sure, I'd recommend you sign up for a new account.
Best of luck!

Hi Robert
I registered since the free beta too. I checked voluumtrk.com with WOT and is flagged as ''very poor'' so i worry that fb will mark it as spam...

Thanks for the heads up, we'll have to add a new domain soon. Although we've not had a single complaint with voluumtrk.com about it being flagged so far.

Just tried to shoot you a PM but your inbox is full -- can't say that I'm surprised.
"Hi ZP,
I am preparing to launch my 1st campaign. Don't worry, I'm not going to be one of those needy noobs.
I just wanted to ask -- as I really want to master
Voluum as it looks like what I'll be using for the first few years minimum, is there anything I can do to really learn
Voluum prior to launching my first campaign? Or do you have to live campaign in order to master the fundamentals of tracking?
If there's stuff I can do beforehand, please give me your recommendations and I will get to work.
Thanks in advance."

If you want to master Voluum... Use it.
There are a lot of nifty tricks that I use Voluum for in my own affiliate marketing. Such as establishing demographics of people who fire my Facebook retargeting pixel and confirming those stats when I follow up with a Facebook retargeting campaign.

I'm pretty sure voluumtrk causes issues on FB. I encountered this during the 6WAMC, I think (cant remember the exact domain name).

Hey apoplexy,
I think each affiliate marketer to some extent has a unique methodology when optimizing their campaigns so I'd say it's a matter of identifying which reports are most useful for you and figuring out a way to systematize your daily routine of optimizing and scaling.
The initial learning curve mainly consists of figuring out how to setup postback URLs, understanding click URLs, clickIDs, custom domains, and hosting LPs on CDNs - but once you've done that a few times it's a breeze.
I'd recommend you play with our reports in our live demo account:
https://panel.Voluum.com/demo/ and start exploring the setting up of Voluum with our free Noobie account. If you have any questions along the way, shoot our support a ticket.
Good luck!
Robert
