Tracking on BuzzCity

Hey guys,

I have a profitable campaign on Buzzcity, but really have no idea on what carriers/handsets are profitable.

Is the only way on Buzzcity to do this is to setup a separate campaign for each variable, then just append that variable to the end of your url? I contacted Buzzcity as well to see if they have a solution.

I will say this was the fastest I've ever got a campaign profitable... could be mobile beginners luck

not a smart move to out your traffic source ;-) never heard of them..but maybe their support can help you. i'm sure they have some variables/tokens you can use to track your variables

The Russian mentioned them a while ago. All good.

btw if you run the offer through neverblue you can also use their mobile traffic analytics which is pretty awesome!! then you can track everything you can think of

ah pretty cool thanks... i found a wiki for buzz city tracking actually just now. lol wasn't really hard to find, right under advertiser settings.

edit: the wiki only shows how to place the buzzcity pixel. Will need to see if I can pull conversion reports from buzz.

lol yea I was just about to tell you they have conversion tracking code

I spoke to them at adtech.....You have to find the right person to talk with there.....but they have a shit ton of asian traffic.....

Oh Buzzcity how much I love and hate theee....

Anyway I'm working on a solution to your problem.

You can use the Buzzcity pixel but it wont give you the data you're looking for, they will just see whats working internally, and depending on how much volume you're doing don't be surprised if your campaign all of a sudden dies.

Also, check to make sure your clicks are matching up!

NVB internal tracker is nice but basically every click you send to their network you're letting them know exactly what converts.

Glad to hear you're making money on mobile, like I said its easy to get small camps going.

Also if you want to read more check out MobAffBlog.com

/shameless plug

Next steps.

1. Ask for a paybump
2. Ask for weeklies
3. Scale to other traffic sources

Thanks Russian... I'll need to watch the clicks thing. Fuk'd up big today and didn't select US at Jumptap on a US only campaign, brilliant. Haven't done that for about 2 years.... odd though, JumpTap decided to spend almost 3 times my daily budget, which was horrid timing

08-09-2011 05:09 AM #10 jtgjustin (Member)

Just scale it over to jumptap or admob, the pubs will be different but the carriers/devices will be the same.

With mobile 90% of the work is finding a good offer, the other 10% is filtering out the bad carriers/handsets/publishers. I've had offers where no matter how hard I optimized it was impossible to profit; I've also had offers where I've just copy/pasted the creatives and saw 3x ROI. The advertisers really need to get their shit together.

There is another way to check your traffic on BuzzCity. At the bottom of your interface you will find a link"clicklog"It lets you download the last two days of your traffic. It will tell you the phone agent, time, Ip. The carriers you can find out through the IPs. When you than cross check it with your prosper or whatever you are using you know what converts. It is a bit of a pain but it works.Make sure you get the clicklog every day, it will only be there for two days.

@ Dieter... which DB are you using to match back to the carriers? Maxmind?

What the bloody f#$k?

08-09-2011 08:51 PM #15 dieter (Member)

Hi Russian

I use http://ip-lookup.net/ or similar. Can do up to 10 ips at a time, which is enough because the numbers are batches which you recognise as Metro or whatever once you get used to them.
Just download ips from prosper and sort in excel.

Hi Diegoal

That the ctr looks like that happens often in mobile when you start a campaign because of the lag in the exposure behind when the clicks actually happened. Check again in a few hours and it's normally settled down.

08-09-2011 09:49 PM #16 diegoal (Member)

Dieter, you're right. Seems to have settled at 1.45.

The discrepancies are absurd. Close to 50% of my clicks are lost.

Hi diegoal,
if you are interested have a look at my thread about lost clicks http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...networks/page2

While you some raise good points, I don't think that's the explanation in my case because I'm comparing clicks on my end (t202) with stats on their end.

08-10-2011 05:40 PM #19 theguvna ()

I'm using: http://www.ipligence.com/iplocation to look up IPs from BuzzCity click log. Buzzcity says they are coming from the correct country, but for certain countries, I'd say 80-90% of them, ipligence cant pickup an accurate IP, says "null". Never seen that before with them, typically they've been accurate for me.

Still kinda weird this mobile stuff

@ The Guvna

Yeah I hate the click discrepancies, wait till you try CPM buys and watch 30 to 50% of your impressions never happen! At the end of the day though if its backing out... who cares right.

Ya exactly.... Question, is there no way to restrict carriers on BuzzCity. Swear I'm missing something obvious. Trying to optimize by carrier, handset, then pub ID. I've narrowed down the profitable handsets and restricted those, but can't find where to optimize carriers.

I will say although I've had a couple profitable campaigns, I've had much higher optin rates sending to my own lead gen capture. Now, other than a mobile coreg path, I need to find a way to monetize those leads right then and there on the handset.

Seems like tons of potential and volume in mobile, and like you said very much like the early days on other platforms. Figuring out a consistent monetization is my challenge now.

Need to do more testing with flipping optin leads from the phone to our normal CPA/in house offers. Though "they say" people are entering credit cards on their smart phones these days (I've only done it on Amazon).

It's under 'Country and Carrier Targeting' when you create the campaign.

^^^ ya like I said, something obvious. Thanks man.... my targeted country doesnt have Telco options, though several are coming through reporting. Guess I cant in this country.

Are you getting the optin by getting them to send a keyword to a shortcode?
Or aweber signup form?

I tried the shortcode thing on jumptap and only got a measly 0.9% optin rate.

08-14-2011 04:22 AM #25 theguvna ()

Just an aweber signup form. Decent optin rates for what I thought was a hideous page.

It's easy to detect converting carriers using Prosper202, you don't even have run it through IP locator, clicking RIPE link in Prosper IP report does the trick for me.

Any idea how to find converting handsets?

08-20-2011 11:25 AM #27 dieter (Member)

If you download your prosper data to an excel sheet and download Buzzcitys clicklog to an excel sheet you than can compare your converting prosper clicks to the phone agent in clicklog. Its a bit of work but that far the only way I could find. You have to make sure that you have set the same time zones in prosper and in Buzzcity to be able to see which click has converted.

Thanks, dieter!
This is gonna give me a brain damage...
For some reason I'm unable to find some IPs Prosper reports in BuzzCity click logs, even after merging all logs in one spreadsheet.
