What is your FB CPM Strategy ?

I have a good CTR ad on FB and I would like to switch to CPM.
What is the best FB CPM strategy?

I see that the minimum suggested CPM bid is much higher than what I pay now bidding CPC.

My FB CPM strategy is bidding all CPC. :X

CPM never turned out good for me and doing good numbers CPC so why change..

Thanks.
But I think you can lower spending using CPM

As far as I read, Facebook changed their algorithm recently so the CPM is not as efficient as it was. I think on CPM bidding they place your ad on some loqwer quality pages with lower click rate...and those bidding CPC for the pages with higher CTR, which is pretty normal, they will earn more.

right but in some international countries cpm is still effective...always split test it!

anywhere outside the major english speaking countries its worth a test....

what would be classed a "3rd world" cpm's can get so cheap that sub penny clicks are possible....(rather easy sometimes actually)

you just have to ignore what the suggested cpm is....its often wayyyy off.....i have seen and paid 3 cents cpms on suggesteds in the 14-20 range....you have to let it run though.....you cant just test 10k imps......the cpm drops as the ad runs most cases.....

My last campaign that was a monster and all US was CPM... so you can still make CPM work in the US.

Like others noted, split test. Just make 2 camps, one with CPC ads, and another with your top CTR ads on CPM.

been off the CPM side of things for awhile. (I do mostly CPC but starting to test more CPM campaigns again US/INTL) do you guys especially in the US notice that certain offers do better than others on a CPM bid? For example I would assume a lot of gaming/app offers do better, because it seems that a lot of CPM impressions are going to the lower quality app traffic.

thoughts?

Totally depends. You just have to test and see what happens. Also found with CPM the less targetting the better both in terms of volume and conversions... dont ask me why, I have no idea.

interesting I have a few super broad campaigns i've been struggling to get into profitable EPC (just barely outside where i need them) maybe i need to start testing CPM a lot more on them.

Gonna test out some CPM ads later today. I'll post how I go.

Just ran a test. All I'll say is that it was an epic fail for me. Ran a demo of 2 million in the US for a reach of 40k @ 2 times frequency at .45c CPM. CTR was about an 1/8 down from what it usually is CPC. Canned it.

Update: Just ran the same ad at a .212CTR which is pretty low. Maybe my new country targeting is a little off?

Moral of the story - test for yourself.

well in my experience your CTR will be MUCH lower on CPM than CPC but your overall CPC can be lower and EPC can be higher.

Thanks for all your advice.

I did a split test (outside of the US and it's a non-english speaking country).
and the winner ....drumrolls... CPC by far (100% better conversion rate)

Here are my findings (Same ads and targeting+same amount of money-both campaigns running at the same time):
The CPM campaign Vs CPC campaign:
-CPM campaign --> Much lower CTR
-CPM campaign --> Twice as many clicks
-CPM campaign --> Almost three times as many impressions (not that I care about that).
-CPM campaign --> 50% less conversion rate then the CPC campaign.

So Conversion rate wise CPC is the big winner
