Hello guys. New member of STM and newbie in paid traffic industry I started by reading the basics and I think it is finally time to take action.
Still so much things to learn and I expect to lose money of course but also expect to learn a lot, especially from you guys
Anyway, I've started my campaign this morning (French time) and it is now 10.30 pm
My offer is an app for mobile and my traffic source is decisive.is. I'm targeting a country in EUrope
Mobile content offer
Payout : $9.60
Traffic : decisive.is
Country : Netherlands
Budget : $20 per day and per campaign
CPC 0.2 (according to decisive, the average CPC is 0.17 so I set 0.2 but I really don't know how can I calculate this data)
Tracking : Prosper202
My campaigns :
For my first campaign I decided to use a direct link.
Basically I'm running 3 campaigns. One for each of the top 3 carrier (and avoid Wifi)
The rest in the same thing. Same banners, same budget.
bid type → CPC
sizes → 300x50, 300x250, 728x90, 320x50,
media → App
os → Android, iOS
Day 1
campaign #1
Impressions : 20,777
Clicks : 49
CTR : .24
campaign #2
Impressions : 21,194
Clicks : 53
CTR : .25
campaign #3
Impressions : 18,139
Clicks : 64
CTR : .35
No conversion at all
My first task is to understand the data. What is a good CTR ? Am I good or bad and should I start cutting out some banners or campaign? If the CTR is too low I assume I have to increase the CPC.
Cheers
Day 2
campaign #1
Impressions : 12,194
Clicks : 39
CTR : .32
campaign #2
Impressions : 14,772
Clicks : 35
CTR : .24
campaign #3
Impressions : 9,309
Clicks : 32
CTR : .34
I've removed all the banners without any impression. I have now 5 banners left for each campaign. It took almost half day for having my campaigns approved (need a new approval when editing).
And still no conversion
Thanks for your follow along post and good luck with campaigns!
Ideally you'd shoot for over 1% CTR.
Do you have any indication from your network/AM as to how well this offer converts?
What is your angle, how are you framing this offer to the users?
The high payout suggests you're running a subscription-based offer, so expect low conversion rates. It may be better to start with an offer that has a lower payout and lower barrier to conversion. Those pricey subscription-based offers pay well but they are harder to convert and require more data/$$ on your end.
Thank you Zeno. Yes you are right. It is a wallpapers subscription offer.
So you recommend to stop this campaign and start with smth else ?
It's hard to say anything certain without having a better idea of offer performance but to be blunt it's not a great offer to start with on mobile - much wiser to go for lower payout cost-per-install app offers. This way at least you will likely get more conversion data per dollar than a high payout subscription offer, which makes it easier to evaluate and optimise by ROI.
If you assume a break-even conversion rate for your campaign, you need to spend ~$20 on each placement to get a reasonable idea of conversion rate. Hundreds of placements later... Compare that to a $1 CPI offer ;D
Yep, I'd definitely agree with Zeno. Unless you have a large testing budget, better to start by testing an offer with a smaller payout to get more data faster.
@caurmen @zeno ok thank you guys for your advice.
I will find another offer, more accessible
