My POF Campaigns Went From 300% ROI to -50% ROI Overnight
Hey,
I used to have 2 dating offers running on POF, a US and a UK one. I was spending $200-$350 a day and making 300-350% ROI every day. This was going on for a good 3 months.
...But then, POF introduced their new "Ads Clicked" feature, which is brilliant. But for some reason, which I can't explain. Overnight my campaigns started to lose money. My conversion rates went from 35% to 9-11% and they haven't changed since.
I'm losing my mind over this, I've tried changing everything up. I've experimented with every combination of Login Count, Ads Clicked and Session Depth I can think of. At certain login counts I've seen a slight bump in conversion rates of about 5% but my campaigns are still losing me money.
Could anyone please shed some light on this?
Best Regards

I have. 12 New Titles, 6 new descriptions, and over 50 new images. Still the same results.

I've tried 1 new offer, which is just about profitable (about 10% ROI). I'm going to try some more offers though and see what happens.
I don't think it's anything to do with the network, they're probably one of the best networks, and wouldn't shave.

I've run some stuff on PoF for nearly a year - but it fluctuates up and down from 25% ROI to 60% ROI... but I still get a total crap day with no explanation whatsoever... This week I had a 76% ROI day, then the following, -2%.... I've certainly noticed it's happening more these last 3 weeks with very up and down days.... I could usually say that Sun/Mon/Tues were great, with a steady decline through to Saturday night... then the big bounce.... week in week out.
Go to say, 300-350% ROI on a regular basis is darn impressive. I won't ask you to share anything, but certainly makes me think about some new angles in PoF again....

Thanks for your reply, makes me feel a bit better that other people are going through the same thing.
I think the secret is split testing, it took me over 40 landing page split tests and a lot of wasted cash to get to 300% ROI. Best of luck to you!

Wow, 40 LPs split-tested is impressive.
I've definitely had campaigns that would be extremely profitable one day and lose money the next. So I would just keep track of total ROI in a spreadsheet to make sure it was staying positive.

@arrlom - it sucks that your campaign died out like that. Even though I haven't seen success like yours, I've been fluctuating between 60% to around 160%. The general trend is a decrease over time, but it still bounces around. Like when a campaign's fresh, I'll profit like $200+, next day like $100, then $150, then $80, then back above $100 in profit, etc etc.
Like chris_m said, the ROI's you were hitting are awesome. You've inspired me to dig a lot deeper with POF. Now I know the potential that's out there.

Just a quick thought, but I'll throw it out there. Is it possible you have a competitor running something exact or similar to what you are but are bidding more CPM? They would be showing their ads before yours which could be the reason your stuff has stopped converting. If you haven't, it might be worth a shot upping your CPM .16 or .21 just to see if that much of a bump brings back some noise.

Thanks for your reply, It's very possible I've gotten new competitors. I've tried raising bids to 0.6, 0.8 & 1.00, something weird happens at high bids, I get a lot more clicks, and my LP->Offer CTR shoots up to nearly double (no idea why) but my conversion rate drops drastically to about 2%.
Although when I tested the higher CTRs I didn't touch session depth which may of been stupid of me, at those bids my ad is probably shown first and maybe users at low SDs are more 'clicky' but less enthusiastic to convert. Tonight I'll run a few campaigns at the same high bids with different SDs so I can know for sure

Thanks machete. Just keep split testing, and being creative you'll get there! Remember your ads and landing pages are never perfect. Good luck!

Hey arriom,
Would you be able to give an example of your funnel?
I tried direct linking on POF and it was a dud.
Can you explain how you use your LP with your offer?
Thanks man
