Great post! Just to add a tip back in the day during the "Flog" craze you could get a list of flogs and bid on those and pop your acai or bizop worked wonders on TV. You could grab the list from website that complained about flogs

So do you still aim to bid the highest but not on the root domain but on shortened version or longer version of it so you get the traffic without being noticed?

Man, this looks like an ice-cold mojito in the desert! Great share!

Ya just try to bid around people using shortrened versions of pages and the like.....

not everything is gonna work as LI sometime is weird with traffic when you do that......

and just so you all know I started with a large list of keywords 1k or so....as alot of these keyword don't really get volume......then filter out what converts and then adjust your bids.....

Nice job Polarbacon!

06-03-2011 06:47 PM #15 dwhite158 (Member)

how are you finding the target urls? LiveHTTP Headers or something similar? do you complete the registration to the end?

06-03-2011 07:08 PM #16 polarbacon (Moderator)

pingdom tools will show you exactly how the page loads

even redirects....wink wink

06-03-2011 07:13 PM #17 dwhite158 (Member)

exactly the answer I needed! thank you very much

06-03-2011 07:21 PM #18 klax (Member)

Why not bid on affiliate networks tracking domains also?

06-03-2011 08:09 PM #19 regan (Member)

all set now 149 keywords been approved .... lets get started LI ...

Cool, made one email submit campaign on Leadimpact. Hope it gets approved before the weekend starts.
Haven't done an email submit campaign on PPV for a while. Let's hope this will work out.
Thanks polarbacon.

i have had this campaign running on li for 12 hrs and was in th top 2 for most of these keywords now i am down to pos 8,looks like everyone has run with this campaign, not much chance this will be profitable now...

06-03-2011 10:41 PM #22 polarbacon (Moderator)

be creative......this just doesn't need to be applied to email submits......the point was more of....looking at "pages" of sites than just urls...and using those

06-03-2011 11:39 PM #23 moneybags (Member)

I have had this running on TV for almost 24 hrs now have had only 52 impression ... no conversions I have been rotating threw 3 offers but with only 53 impression
it don't really make a diffrerance

Guess tv is not the place for these kind of targets ... strange though I don't get why it wouldn't work ?

Tv never really worked well

LI was always best for this...

06-04-2011 12:02 AM #25 tijn (Moderator)

oooh shoot.

I remembered the switch in a temp landing page due to exit pops on the offers (which LI dont like) but now they want a "participation required" flipping disclaimer...

10min after I decide to give it a day and head to bed.

Oh shoot.

Now i will have to wait another 24hrs maybe even the whole weekend before I can run this.

So everyone else that is trying this (and other DL campaigns on LI):
* remember to include a landing page that is compliant with LI if you use offers with an entry/exit pop
* ensure that you add in the disclaimer above the fold

What about addon network for this running maybe Ron traffic to it ?

06-04-2011 01:52 AM #27 tizzledizz (Member)

started running this and got about 3 clicks on prosper and my network over a period of 4 hours with a $35/day budget

not sure if this is typical or because everyone is running the same thing but it definitely gave me a lot of ideas on bidding on urls, thanks a lot for this post

06-04-2011 04:11 AM #28 Richie (Member)

there's definitely a bidding war on LI now...and it's HOT

Trying this one out... Thanks Polarbacon for the awesome trick!

06-04-2011 09:10 PM #30 moneybags (Member)

My update after about a day and a half ... running on TV

I have only had only 362 impressions and spent $3.63

I did start with the Kw that we suggested to try or should I say the ones that polarbacon used
but on TV there was no volume on then at all and had no conversions on them

Sooooo I added some new kw or should I say new variations of URL STRINGS And low and
behold I found a little gen one that on TV I'm only bidding .01 in the #1 spot with no competition yet .. mind you on this little string I have had
only 201 impression but with 4 conversions on it for $5.40

So to you PolarBacon I can't thank you enough for opening my eyes and leading me to the Light

Greatly Appreciated

Thanks

Agree with @vortex on the fact that the particular tutorial is outdated. Especially in the direct linking to offers which Google does not really like anymore.

Yet, from what i understand without the video, it is a creative way to retarget users based on very specific keywords that are not common, and therefore not very competitive.

This part of the approach is still valid today. It is niche and won't bring much volume, but it can be profitable.

I used to do that on Display, by targeting very specific URL corresponding to subforums of expat websites about Chile, with a banner saying "relocating soon to chile, book your 30-min free consultation today". CTR was between 9 and 17% (on display!). Volume was low, but that was 10-15 leads a month for less than 5 USD total.

Had nothing to do with Google.

It's about PPV traffic (adware).

I was also running PPV for about 8 or 9 years, one of my favorite traffic
