PPV - Gaming Offers

What up my STM forum peoples,

On today's show of "Follow the New PPV Guy" we're going to dive into the Gaming Niche.

The offer: Eden Eternal, $1.25 payout, Wolfstorm Network.

The Beginning

I know next to nothing about the online gaming community, never played one, don't know anyone that's played one, so I'm really starting from scratch here.

So my first manner of business.. Research. First thing is trying to find out why people play these games. And so far I got a couple conclusions:

  1. A bunch of other people play these games and they want to be apart of something with a bunch of people (I'm guessing similar to why people join street gangs )
  2. They just enjoy the "fantasy" and "magical" aspect of these games
  3. They like the role playing fantasy these games offer
  4. They started real young and have a goal to play every computer game known to man, just playin, but from what I see, people like playing a bunch of similar games

So with that said I made a quick lander that plays on the social proofing aspect of the game being popular...here's my lp:

Got an autoplay video (lemme know if that's not autoplaying on your browser por favor), a simple javascript counter that goes up to like 20000, and I'm going to rotate that with direct linking (what do you guys think?)

Next Up... Targetting

K this is where I'm really lost. I have no clue what sites to hit up, other than maybe game forums, other mmorpg games, and then plugging "eden eternal" into affexpert and seeing what pops up

So this is where I'm at with this campaign, and I'm going to start gathering some targets, will post what I have in a little.

Appreciate the feedback/advice/cheering for my success

later!

I like the online players and how the number slowly goes up. Also like how you started the video at 10 seconds instead of the beginning. Good luck, looking forward to watching this thread.

I like your landing page idea.

The video looks cool and the sound on autoplay will grab user's attention.

Only problem I can see is that at 800x600 your button and users online dissapear down the page.

Also your headline is worth split testing.

At that payout you need an awesome CTR to get it profitable.

Good stuff so far. Targeting has to be the most difficult part because if you get that right then you will have a winner on your hands.

I will be watching your post for sure.

Good looks Mugga!, if you/anyone else wants the script for it lemme know and I'll post that. (maybe that could be a good idea for a forum section: Scripts & Coding).

Thanks BB, Yeah I have no idea how to target gamers, but I'm guessing since they all downloaded GameVance (I'm running with TV) then it's got a good chance to profit/scale.

Thanks for the heads up... damn I thought I designed it with enough space (750 X 550)... good looks on pointing that out!

Definitely going to split test the headline... was thinking of maybe a "Yes'ended" question "Looking for a MMORPG that Doesn't Get Old" or "Want to try the #1 Rated MMORPG?" or something... got any tips for a catchy headline for games?

My AM at Wolfstorm (What up Coop!) just bumped the payout to 1.75 which should help.

So where we left off, Targets

I basically just went into affexpert and scraped for "eden eternal, play eden eternal, eden eternal beta, eden eternal download, best mmorpg games, best mmorpg 2011, best mmorpg reviews 2011, best mmorpg reviews" and got about 300 targets:

that link is to download the spreadsheet of keywords.

Set my daily budget on TV at $15, freq cap = 1/72hrs, and now just waiting to get approved. Will post stats on URL's & Keywords when I gettem

If anyone has any tips on angles, or targeting for this I'm all ears!

Later Fellas!

I like your lander... how did you get the youtube video to sit inside your image? I've ran Wizard101 on PPV and I can tell you the lander you have will do well once you find the right targets. Do a google search for mmo, mmorpg ect... and start finding every mmo game known to man by visiting other related sites. Write down the names of the games, who makes them and start targeting. Also look for any flash related gaming sites, arcade sites ect....

Anyhow, let me know how you put the youtube video on the image like that. I am afraid to use a youtube vid b/c at the end it has advertisements in the video.

Update:

So this campaign has been profitable so far... spent $68 and made $73.75.

There were only 4 converting targets which I made separate LP's for, and pause all the other targets.

Gonna make separate campaigns for the other targets and see if I can expand on the keywords and urls that were profitable.

@sp33dr4ge:

what do you mean put in the image? I used the embed iframe code from youtube and just had a background image on my lp, so the youtube video was just on top of the background image. If you were talking about something else lemme know haha.

So I'm gonna let this campaign run and see if I can expand on the sites more and get a lot more traffic.
