Auto Insurance Campaign Journey

Hey guys

Just sharing what I'm doing right now, this is my first campaign on Facebook. I'm pretty new to all of this. Maybe I can get some feedback . I'm doing an campaign on this offer http://www.topcarinsurance.co.za/.

Payout is R65, so just under $10 for a 1st page submit.
I'm using Facebook Ads to Promote.

So far I've tested 6 variants of the ad (4 Image variants, and 2 headline variants. They all include the follow demo, 945,040 users, 21 - 30, Males, South Africa. I couldn't think of keywords that would fit with car insurance for Facebook... I'm really sure I could do better with move laser targeting though

Heres the stats: http://stmforum.com/forum/attachment...6&d=1306519827

The best one seems to be Variant D getting a 0.041% CTR. With the following ad, Which is this http://stmforum.com/forum/attachment...7&d=1306543109

How am I doing right now?

The landing page for when they click thorugh so far is pretty shoddy, and needs quite an improvement as well. I'll get to that part in my next post.

Feedback welcome, thanks guys

well.....

your ad doesn't really inspire a click....

how about "How Much Will You Save?" or "Your Savings Is?

body more of....

"Are you paying to much?. Click here and find out"

those make people curious....curiosity = click .....and you may need a presell.....to really make it work

those are just me quick thoughts.....

and if you search the forums.....you willl find some good info.... http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...0-000-m-Stable)

@polarbacon Thanks for the feedback! , I'm gonna take today to read through this forum and the threads here on auto insurance. Hopefully can get started in writing some new tests headlines and copies.

@jamesruhles Theres so much disinformation around Facebook Ads and whats allowed and whats not hey lol

Where did you find an auto insurance offer for SA??

I used to run auto insurance on FB in the US, PM me.

Sick offer you found there dude.

I had success with insurance targeting universities and work places, but it might be a little hard in SA you don't have the volume to work with. I'd definitely try to find some creatives with some hot chicks driving, or even some messed up looking odd cars.

e.g. exhibit A --->

You probably can't get away with an ad copy like that, but you can tweak it to be a little more compliant.

I grew up in South Africa and I can tell you that car insurance is a BIG deal over there. Highest vehicle theft in the world!

Mr. Green has a good angle for you there. Try to target government workers. They all get fat vehicle allowances (my mom works for them) and if you drive a nice BMW you need insurance just in case you get hijacked

^^^

What does the ad sage tool do ? and where can we find it ?

Thanks

Its a mass Facebook Ad uploader/manager.

You can get it here: http://www.ad-sage.com/Products.aspx...2&articleId=26

I think it's pretty decent for people starting out!

do you guys think I should wait until I get a decent CTR before starting to tweak my landing page? Or should I start working on this slowly, testing as the clicks come in?

i've seen car insurance ad a lot on FB(same ad/LP running alot on adsonar too) with image of police car.....goes to a 1 page review type of post within a WP blog comparing before /after quotes...and testimonials(i think fake).......but seems like something that shows real savings or testimonials get people excited about going thru with entering info ?

i havent run car insurance but been thinking about it. seems like that LP offer is weak. no incentive/savings mentioned at top and call to action "submit" is pretty bland but i guess it is what it is(vs. like LP offer on neverblue for something like http://www.save500.com ) if breaking into cars is problem use some images of that. i think you could also try images of a cop writing a ticket or a cop behind a radar gun with headline like "Car Insurance Going Up ? "..or something more exciting than that....you could target something like speed radar guns or image of those speed trap machines showing a really high MPH on it like 150MPH to grab attention(i guess you use Kilometers) to young demographic or guys into tuning cars/street racing/muscle cars/sports cars,etc......or a hot girl in a fake police uniform for the older guys....

car insurance is boring so just trying to make it worth getting clicks then might have to work on the LP. some pics i had stored below but i realize you might have different looking uniforms,etc...in SA

Facebook is taking long to approve my ads

@blov, that LP is actually the advertisers... It looks really crap but I thought if I can presell well enough on my landing page, that shouldn't be a problem. Or do you think that might be if their landing pages are really bad?

I wonder if these pre-sell article sites are working in ppv... worth a test perhaps... anyone try?

Oh man, Facebook is pissing me off. another 16 ads were disapproved with various variations, I got 1 approved ad.... The funny thing is, I used the exact ad headline/copy/image of an approved ad thats also doing insurance and that got disapproved as well....

Guys any tips on getting it approved?

Just resubmit it. Some guys in their approval dep take their jobs too seriously and disapprove shit left and right, so it's nothing uncommon to get an ad disapproved which was approved 2 minutes before.

Facebook is tough... I'll get the same copy and headline approved 1 day with 15 images and the next day I could re-submit the same ad with the same 15 images and it gets disapproved. It's really hit and miss. The problem is without an uploader tool you could spend literally 1 or 2 hours uploading 50 images and it ends up being all for nothing after being disapproved.

06-01-2011 12:37 PM #16 michaelza (Member)

Wouldn't it get my account banned if I keep resubmitting and it keeps getting declined?

So how long do you wait before resubmitting?

06-01-2011 12:46 PM #17 lavish (Member)

My advice:

Don't just keep resubmitting the same ad if it keeps getting disapproved. You'll get banned.

Make minor changes and adjustments. If the ad copy + headline you've got really works, then try submitting it again at a later date.

yeah that is my biggest problem with FB....i was getting ads denied that were approved in other demographics and when i tried promoting an offer that runs a ton on facebook already they say its doesnt meet their standards for products yet its running all over the place,etc.....
