Commonly Outsourced Tasks?

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to automate / streamline my own processes so that I can begin to handle more simultaneous campaigns. I've found that a lot of people discuss outsourcing and having assistants, but I'm not quite sure what you guys have them working on.

What do you find are the most appropriate tasks for outsourced assistants to help with?

I currently have two full time VA's one of them creates all my landing pages and banners another manages my campaigns pauses keywords, adjusts bids, ect. It frees up a lot of my time so that I can focus on researching and starting new campaigns instead of trying to code and looking at my stats all day

ya outsourcing is tough because it's difficult to find good people....i don't really outsource a lot myself..but i have a couple guys (us/eu based) i've been working with for years now that do all my design/coding stuff and they know exactly what i need so i don't have to give to much instructions. But outsourcing to someone on odesk for example is another story..it's really hit or miss. sometimes you waste more time with explaining them what you need exactly and revisions of their work than if you would have done it yourself..but i'm a perfectionist so they have a tough time working with me :-)

Gooddrew, Did you train them yourself? How long did it take? Any tips on how to efficiently train a VA? Did you use videos, documents, anything else to teach them?

Thanks in advance.

aren't you afraid that you VA will copy one of your campaigns and run them himself..or did you make some kind of contract to avoid that? i mean if you pay your VA $10 or less an hour and he manages a campaign that is making $5k/day profit he would be stupid not to copy it..or do you know him personally?

Yeah I trained them myself. For the design guy it didn't take long I just had to explain how I was creating things, showed him some examples of pages I created and he just took things from there. The stats training took a little longer. I created a bunch of videos showing how I managed the campaigns and had my VA watch them. Then I had her go through and do the work while I watched over skype and gave her guidance. That training took about a month because there are so many different traffic sources.

Na I am not really worried. Both of my VA's only work in one specific part of my business so they don't have the full picture. Even if they figured it out they wouldn't have the funds to compete against me.

Any recommendations for where to find a good VA?

Odesk is a good place.

I found mine on easyoutsource.com and onlinejobs.ph Easyoutsource is free to use and onlinejobs.ph you have to pay monthly to be able to contact people. They both have good people. I had to interview about 10 different people for each task before I found the right person.

I always outsourced coding on elance or odesk. but i found it expensive in the long run. Now i have a full time coder working for me doing 20 times more for the same price

I have 2 full time virtual assistants and they I use them mostly to code landing pages / upload banners / pause keywords etc.

Basically all the boring repetitive stuff

Although I have yet to get to the level where I need to hire help, the book the E-Myth (non-aff link) has what seemed to me to be some decent advice. It's basically about being able to break certain aspects of your business into a process of simple steps that anyone could be trained to do. Just looking at the steps involved in getting my campaigns up and running (and keeping them up!), I definitely see certain aspects that could be broken down into simple task lists.

My concern would be people just ripping me off and running their own campaigns. But I think the key to prevent that would be to have people only work on segmented and specific aspects so they couldn't really get a full picture view of the business.
