Help Me Create A Study Plan For Facebook Ads

For context: I'm a copywriter who wants to use my skills to make money as an affiliate marketer. That means I have the copy chops, but no media buying skills.

I've decided to start with FB since it makes sense with my current skillset + long term plan.

What I'm struggling with is understanding how to start studying FB ads (especially considering how much things have changed over the years and that most guides on the forum are kind of outdated.)

So far, I've started diving into Vortex's FB Beginner guide (https://stmforum.com/forum/forumdisp...inner-Tutorial) and I've studied the compliance/keeping your account alive side of things.

I also know what I'll be promoting.

Here's what else I think I need to study before I start running ads...

- Audience targeting
- Setting up campaigns
- How to test campaigns - the economics side of things (what to keep, what to cut, etc.)
- Scaling a profitable campaign

Does anyone know good resources I can dive into to master Facebook ads? Would be super grateful if you could nudge me in the right direction.

Also, in terms of the list above - is there any topics I'm missing that I should know/study before I start running campaigns?

Thanks in advance!

Depends a bit on the niche / vertical you gonna run. Can you give some info on that?

I'm planning to run lead gen first (low payout so can test and learn with a smaller budget) - then I want to drive traffic for ecom products. (long term goal is to run an ecom brand so ultimately I want to master driving traffic for ecom)

Lead gen as in, sweepstakes/win offers or more like education, finance, solar kinda verticals?

Ecomm probably needs more attention for actual branding whilst CPL isnt really about consumer engagement.

maybe my sweep threads (see below in signature) give some relevant info, although they outdated in some way.

1)I would add to your list above:

-Audience research (extremely important - not just for targeting but for crafting ads/landers)
-Setting up tracking (pixel/conversion)

2)Also important: FB is pretty strict as to what kinds of offers they allow to be run. The safe thing to do would be to ask here first before actually running. This is why @stickupkid keeps asking for clarification.

3)My FB tutorial should still provide good information. The only major "outdated" part is that it was written before IOS14. The following two threads provide good info on how best to combat IOS14:

Conversion Attribution - https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post423118

Much-Reduced Accuracy in Audience Targeting - https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post431454

4)If you're not wanting to play the accounts game, it may be better to run from an agency account. There are several FB agency account providers active on STM - to find them search for "facebook agency account". NOTE: STM does not endorse any products or services so please perform due diligence - use any service at your own risk and discretion.

Hope that helps! Please keep us posted on progress!
