Sorry for the clickbaity title - couldn't help myself!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with using our own face in tiktok ads. But for those of us that don't want to, but still want to do some quick-and-dirty initial testing to dial-in the right messaging BEFORE outsourcing ads, here's an option:
https://www.synthesia.io/
Just type in a text script and pick a spokes-person and voila - it spits out a video!
You can customize the background within the synthesia interface, or export the video and edit the background (e.g. by replacing with another video) using video editing tools (such as Adobe Premiere/After Effects).
This service is by no means perfect. You can't get the spokes-people to do the tiktok dance or point to messages, and you can't get them to speak in the more informal tone that tiktokers are used to.
The "formal" style doesn't really blend in with native tiktoks. So ultimately you WILL mostly likely want to feature live people instead of AI people. But for quick-and-dirty testing of angles and messaging, this service can be worthwhile.
And considering these are fake people, the results are pretty darn impressive in terms of being convincing!
Here's an example:

Note: Chances are I would have gotten better results if I had kept to more commonly-used words that can be found in the dictionary - the bot obviously had trouble pronouncing "STM", "peeps" and "vids" .
If you want to give it a test - create your own free video here:
https://www.synthesia.io/free-ai-video-demo
And I like that the pricing is a no-brainer.
I'm sure I'll be sharing some results on performance at one point. In the meantime, if any of you have experience using these videos in your ads, I would love to hear what kinds of results you've been getting!

EDIT: Forgot to mention - I also found this: https://elai.io/
With this one you can get their AI spokespeople to speak 60+ different languages!

With this one I learned my lesson - by staying away from slang words - and the results are better.
God I'm a fucking sap for this kind of shit. 10 videos for $30? I'm in. Cheaper than the $69 I pay monthly for Chibi.
Edit: That's chibi.ai, an AI writing tool.

@augustus Ooh thanks for the examples! I don't know if I'd use the output as-is in ad copy, but yeah like you said if I fiddle with it / rewrite it, it has potential to be great.
I can certainly see it being a massive time saver when doing research on ad angles, or when collecting info to write a blog post.
The "fetish for overpriced tools" made me LOL! The ironic thing is we're marketers ourselves - you'd think we'd be familiar enough with all the psychological triggers and traps to not buy into the hype, but then we still do!
Aight aight...lemme find a few minutes later today to make a quick post about that tool. Wouldn't want to keep anyone in suspense for too long - asshole or not.
