How to check if the whole setup is working?

Hi folks, I'm a pain, I know.

So I'm clearing my doubts one by one:

My main one now is: setting the tracker and how can I be sure it's working.

Question: When I create the network, the traffic source, the offer and the campaign and I use the TEST CAMPAIGN URL, and I see the click in the AF Network, that means it's working, correct?

Yeah there's basically two parts you need to confirm are working, 1) that all the links are working, and to test this I usually just go through the funnel myself starting with clicking the campaign link (using a VPN if needed), and 2) that your postback or pixels are working.

Traditionally you'll need to pass conversions from the affiliate network to your tracker, and then from your tracker to the traffic source IF you want to pass conversions to the traffic source.

Every tracker is different so you'll need to rely on your tracker's support team quite a bit.

As far as the 'TEST CAMPAIGN URL' thing, it depends on your tracker and what exactly it means you're testing - are you just testing the link? (then it works if you're seeing it in the aff network) or are you testing the postback/pixel? If the latter you should see a conversion in the aff network.

But again, super dependent on individual tracker, so bug the heck out of your tracker support staff if you need to, that's their job is to help make sure its working for you.

THanks man, can u suggest a VPN? I was using Tunnel Bear but it has limited Countries to choose from.

I like this one, so I can bother the support team as much as I need?

I just answered part of that question here as well:

And again - I would suggest that you go through the 40-day tutorial in detail - it will answer many of your questions:

As for VPN: I've been using HideMyAss for years and it's worked well for me. But you can only use that if the offer accepts wifi traffic.

You're most definitely NOT a pain - and we enjoy answering questions. But you'll feel WAY less confused if you would just read over the entire tutorial first. Really. I guarantee it.

@jack_l and @vortex already gave good tips but I´d like to add a more general advice about it.

It´s definitely good to make sure that the whole tracking setup is working but I don´t recommend to test each and every offer you run.

Reason is that you can´t access all offer pages anyway because of geo or carrier redirects so it can happen that you waste lots of time trying to see if a $0.20 offer is showing correctly.

It´s just not worth it.

Make sure that your tracking is working and if you feel safer with it also check some offers but don´t try to test each and every offer, it will only cost lots of time that can be used better for more important tasks.

When you only test 2-3 offers per day then maybe it wouldn´t make such difference but when you start testing on scale then it´s all about working effective and not perfect.

Yes, just try to be reasonable. You're not their only client and their time is limited, so give them the time to respond and do not ask every basic question. It's in their best interest to help you, but they still have to prioritize and deal with high level clients as a priority. I'm sure you understand what I mean
