Day 9: a)Setting Up a Campaign on PropellerAds - ACTION
***********************************
ACTION
Today we'll be setting up the campaign on PropellerAds to buy actual traffic from visitors!
Once your PropellerAds account is approved, proceed to make your first deposit - just add the minimum amount of $100 - you can always add more funds later.
To make your deposit, log into PropellerAds, click on the "Add Funds" icon in the left menu, and the rest is self-explanatory.

Once you've made the deposit, set up the campaign as follows:
1)Log into PropellerAds, click "Campaigns" from the left menu, click the "Create Campaign" button.

By the way, if you only see icons in the left menu but not the names, just click on the sandwich at the top:

2)For the "Campaign Name" field: Copy and paste the name of the PropellerAds campaign you set up in the tracker yesterday.

3)For "Choose Advertising Format" select "Onclick (Popunder)".

4)For "Pricing Model" specify "SmartCPM".

5)For the "Target URL" field: Grab the tracker campaign url you've generated for this PropellerAds campaign - we covered how to do this in the previous lesson. Paste that url into this field.

(Please don't worry if your link doesn't look like the one in the screenshot - it will vary depending on which tracker you're using.)
6)Leave "Frequency / Capping by Impressions" at enabled (by default). Set frequency to "One visitor will see your ad 1 times per 24 hours".

7)For "Traffic Options" select "Propeller Ads", de-select "Brokers traffic" and de-select "Include AntiAd Block".

8)Toggle "Automatic bidding" to enabled - for now - we'll be changing that later. For "Countries *": Start typing your target country, then select it from the dropdown that appears. Leave the "Cities" options alone.

9)Do this only if you're using Binom or Voluum: Put the bid at the end of your campaign name - both in PropellerAds and in the campaign name in your tracker. In our example the campaign name would be "100520 ID Telkomsel 0.88".
To edit the campaign name on PropellerAds, just scroll back to the top.
To edit the campaign name in the tracker, go to the "Campaigns" tab > click on the campaign you're wanting to change the name of > click "Edit" > modify the name and save.
If you're using Funnelflux Pro, just modify the campaign name in PropellerAds (scroll back up to the top).
10)For "Enable Auto-Optimization" leave at the default "disabled".

11)For "Advertising Budget (USD)", set both "Daily Campaign Budget, $" and "Total Campaign Budget, $" to $10. (These are the minimum amounts allowed.) Ignore the "budgets below $30 might be exceeded" warning.

12)For "Platform" select "Mobile".

13)For "OS" just leave blank to select all (Haka offers accept all OSs.) Do the same for "Device", "Browser", and "Browser language".
For "Connection type" choose "3G/LTE" (my Haka AM told me the offers convert best on 3G traffic).
For "Mobile ISP" choose the mobile carrier you decided to target earlier.
Leave "Zone limitation" and "Audiences" alone.

14)Scroll back up to the "CPM" field to see what the amount is - remember this amount. Then toggle the "Automatic bidding" to disabled. Then put the bid amount you remember from before, back into the "CPM" field - but add 20% to it.

15)Scroll down to the section "Collect an audience for retargeting" - leave at the default "Do not collect".

16)Expand the "Campaign Schedule" section, leave the "Select Timezone" at default. For "Ad delivery method" select "Distributed".

17)Checkmark "I declare and guarantee that my campaign meets the Quality Guidelines" and click "Start Campaign".

You've set up your very first campaign! Congratulations on reaching this milestone!
I should tell you right now that your campaign may not result in profits (although it wouldn't be impossible!) Focus on learning and not earning in the beginning, and one day soon you'll hit on your first profits.
This campaign will not receive traffic (i.e. PropellerAds won't start sending visitors to your tracker link) until a reviewer at PropellerAds has reviewed your campaign to make sure everything meets their guidelines, and approves it. PropellerAds tells us that it can take up to 24 hours for a campaign to be reviewed:

However, it rarely takes that long. More often than not, it will be reviewed and set live in minutes.
By tomorrow, your camp will have been approved and some traffic will have been sent, so we'll have stats to look at together.
***********************************
In this lesson, we've done the ACTION of setting up a campaign from start to finish. However, we haven't gone into what each campaign option means and why we chose the settings we did - this will be the focus of a future lesson.

I'm kind of confused at step 5. Which URL do I use, the one with my domain or the one that Zeydoo gave me with the edited tokens?
Edit: Also, why didn't this guide mention setting up the actual funnel connecting traffic source and offer on FunnelFlux? Don't get me wrong, I'm very appreciative of the writeup but I was scratching my head for a good couple hours until Zeno helped me out lol.

Did you read the previous lesson on how to set up the campaign link in funnelflux?
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...s-(Funnelflux)
In short: You'll need to specify the traffic source while generating the Funnelflux campaign link, and then put this campaign link into the traffic source as the destination url.

It seems my funnel flux is not tracking the CPM, or at least it isn't updating to reflect that. Where might I have gone wrong?

It must be the postback from PropellerAds wasn't set up correctly. Can you please provide the following:
1)The original postback link you copied from PropellerAds.
2)The modified postback link you pasted into Funnelflux.
Please feel free to blur out or change a few of the letter/digits to protect your privacy. I just want to verify the parameters and variables at the end of the link.

Oops! Sorry I just realized you were asking about cost data, not conversion data.
Can you please check your propellerads' settings in Funnelflux, and make sure the {cost} token is there?
If it's not, please add it, then generate a new campaign url from Funnelflux and plug that into PropellerAds.
Please let me know if it doesn't work and I'll take another look.

DID you miss it though? It's weird - because the {cost} token should be automatically loaded if you selected the PropellerAds' template in Funnelflux.
And if you hadn't selected the template: Did you need to put in all the other PropellerAds tracking tokens yourself?
Just trying to figure out how that happened lol!

Dear Amy,
Thank you very much for the step by step guide. As a newbie, I appreciate it. However, being completely new to this, I have one question regarding the campaign you set up showing the steps. Where do you get the bid to be 0.88? Where does this number come from? I don't seem to understand it, so I can reciprocate it for my campaign.

I did the same for the haka offer, only for india. My bet was USD 2.73. Does it make sense to launch a company with such a rate, given that the goal of this training is precisely cheap traffic.

Propeller doesn't want to start a company with this link. Obviously the problem is in the http overlay. But I do not understand what I did wrong and at what stage and what steps need to remake now?

I think you wanted to say CAMPAIGN and not COMPANY, right?
I see to backslahes (//) in your URL, could that be the reason?

Bidding is an art, and is something you need to test. But for initial campaigns, I would suggest to bid $0.50-0.70 for tier 3/4 geos (i.e. "developing" countries) and $0.70-$1.00 for tier 1/2 geos (i.e. "developed" countries).

In funnelflux, go to "Settings" (left side menu) -> Domains tab. Delete your domain and add it again, but this time, DO NOT add "https://" and DO NOT include ANY back slashes after the domain.
So add something like "stmforum.com" (whatever your tracking domain is), not "https://stmforum.com/".
Then show me your campaign link again.

Thanks for the thread vortex
Do you have a good rep / contact at propeller you can share? (also in PM if you prefer)

1. I change it Funnelflux > Settings > Domains
https://yadi.sk/i/vtTJIvGmE5q20w
2. Took link from Funnels> My Company(Open in funnel editor)> Traffic(Send traffic here)
https://yadi.sk/i/vtTJIvGmE5q20w
3. Put it in PrAd
And if i go to this link i have error - https://yadi.sk/i/PxsIxup8CHGtnw
Also one thing - wasn’t my domain originally with the http protocol? Why is httpS being added in this link? Wouldn't that be a problem?

Thank you!
It would be better for you to reach out to PropellerAds' support. But if you like, please PM me your PropellerAds email, and I'll see if I could get someone assigned to you. They have their internal policies as well - such as minimum ad spend before they'd assign a rep. So we shall see.
(If you do PM, please update this thread to let me know to look for it - thank you!)

Did you follow the instructions on the domains page when you were adding the tracking domain? (At Settings > Domains tab.)

Follow these instructions. And don't buy traffic until you can browse to the campaign url without errors, and see the offers page.

And yes, when you bid high, you can potentially get higher-quality traffic.
But before you even know your offer can convert well or not, it's not worth it to send very high quality traffic - because it costs a lot as well.
Therefore, no need to always follow traffic source suggestions on bid amounts.
For all these geos you listed above, try bidding $0.50-0.70. Quality should be good enough to give you conversions if the offer is good.

The original SmartCPM bid that Propeller set for Indonesia was $4.2xx, way over the less than $1 bid in the example. So if add 20% to that, the bid is over $5. My question is in that case, should the daily budget still be $10? Will it generate enough data at that budget? It seems that to generate the same data I would have to spend $25 per day. Does that make sense?

Propellers recommendation usually is the same as the max bid in the traffic chart.
Going with the max bid or even over does not make sense for a high volume geo like ID. Would be different tho for a small geo where you want to buy all traffic possible.
In ID you want good enough quality at reasonable price. That is why you look for the first mayor turning point in the traffic chart. For ID that is around 0.70 cpm.
If the offers converts well and shows indication to become profitable you could test higher bids stepwise.

@
speedygonz Some additional info: PropellerAds traffic is already high quality, so there's less of a concern that if you bid too low you'll get stuck with "bottom of the barrel" garbage traffic. I would often bid $0.50 or even below for initial testing, just to see if the offers/landers would convert.
Bidding low has 2 advantages:
1)If I can't get the campaign profitable at such low bid on a high-quality traffic source, I wouldn't waste my time testing other bids, or other traffic sources.
2)I can save money on test budget. For the same amount of money I can test more offers by bidding lower.
The disadvantage, of course, is that when you bid low, the amount of traffic you get can be severely restricted. Which means you may need to wait for data to come in slowly.
But if you're testing lots of other offers at the same time, you wouldn't mind the "wait" because you wouldn't be waiting - you'd be kept busy with other campaigns.
Again, the same doesn't apply to all traffic sources. PropellerAds has quality traffic. On traffic platforms that have good+bad traffic mixed together, bidding too low WILL result in garbage traffic.
Hope that helps!

Amy,thanks for send me the link of Day 14: Understanding Tracking yesterday, very clearly,I believe I can set it correctly and check by myself, now I'm trying to start a new campaign, but I don't know which the exact target URL is.....
For this step: 5)For the "Target URL" field: Grab the tracker campaign url you've generated for this PropellerAds campaign - we covered how to do this in the previous lesson. Paste that url into this field.
There are two kinds of node to select (starting nodes & offer nodes) on FunnelFux's campaign, which should I choos?
