International CTRs lower? (12)

International CTRs lower?

Anyone else noticing it extremely difficult to get a decent CTR internationally? Specifically for dating...using my best images and professionally translated copy, and yet seeing sub-.10% ctrs consistently. Seeing this in Europe personally.

Another thing that sucks is when you target singles and interested in males/females, the total audience drops dramatically and definitely is not in proportion to the total population of the country.

Can't specifically comment on dating or the demo size changes with targeting single/interested in; but I do lots of gaming campaigns and I see high CTRs everywhere... and everything's international to me really since i'm in NZ. I take it your bidding CPC and have seen much higher CTRs before?

I know for a fact that advertisers sometimes manage to target the whole population regardless of marital status. Some are just lucky.

I have 2 accounts and on one I can't get approved unless I target singles (among other stupid restrictions). On the other one, sometimes they approve ads without relationship status targeting.

If you meant different quality score, then I understand. If not, please explain

most of the times even if it goes through (at least in my own limited experience) it gets retro disapproved within hours... Maybe you're suggesting cloaking

Yup bidding CPC and def seen higher CTRs before in the US. I guess I shouldn't have said all of Europe, it's just one country I've tested in so far. Maybe they just don't like hot girls. I'll keep on testing.

I've seen this as well and although it's not luck, it's also not easy to get approved even with the methods they're using. FB picks up pretty easily when they sense someone's trying to promote dating without specifying those parameters just by the nature of the ad.

I think competition in several international markets has just risen steadily in the past few months with the increase in available offers. That and a much smaller pool of people are using the "interested in" attribute on their profiles.

You said you're using pictures of "hot" girls. Are you matching them ethnically to the demographic? I've been doing dating for quite awhile and have honestly always used what most affiliates would consider extremely tame images. I tend to focus my attention more on the headlines and have often had a lot of success especially in international markets with more average looking women as long as they match the people i'm targeting.

Matching them ethnically to the demographic, but maybe not culturally if that makes any sense. It's funny you mentioned tame images, because one of my tames images actually has the best ctr although still not good enough. Maybe I need to revisit my dating image collection. Thanks for the input.
