$1 Guide Worked For Me in July 2020 - thanks! (17)

$1 Guide Worked For Me in July 2020 - thanks!

So I finally stopped reading and procrastinating and took action with the $1 guide and my campaign ended in Profit. Thank you @vortex.

I followed the guide to the letter and everything worked out except on small thing:

I aksed my AM at Mobipium for the CPM and Geo information as described in the Guide, but she replied with this: "About your question, we don't work with CPM, we work with CPA and we pay per subscription. I will send you our top 10 geos.

So I was unable to get the CPM numbers as per the guide so I just started with the Top 10 Geo's instead.

Finally, after spending £10 on the campaign my Revenue was $11.71.

In my book, that's a whole lot better than any Bank Account interest right now.

I will be following the $1 Guide bonus Module to optimize the campaign further because I enjoyed it so much and will also move onto the 40 day tutorial at the same time https://stmforum.com/forum/forumdisp...l-2019-Version

Thanks again @vortex for helping me get my feet wet!

It's ok that they pay per subscription, but if they divide the revenue generated by the number of clicks received, they would get the average CPM rate and I'm pretty sure they see this figure in their internal stats. Try to ask what the top GEO stats is based on, whether it's total revenue generated, or revenue per 1000 clicks (which would be the CPM rate) or maybe it's something else.

Congrats on the initial success! It's always great to have a "Green" start

Thanks for the tip, i will ask what the top Geo stats are based on. In the mean time, 2 out of the list of 10 she gave me worked well so I am running those again today with the $1 guide extra module for further optimization. I went a little further than the guide and removed all the websites that had a negative ROI, so we'll see how that goes for todays learnings!

Hi @matuloo and @vortex, regarding the Popads reporting, can you help with what is the "Rate" Metric? It is on both the Advertisers Dashboard and also the detailed Reports. Images attached:

Looks like its the average rate per 1000 popups across all your campaigns.
I do recommend looking at it per geo level.

Checkout my post from when i did the $1 guide. I took a more mathematical approach to figure out bidding and ROI

Thanks @mywebexperts for you reply. That post you link to is great and an interesting approach to figuring out bidding and ROI. However, here I simply want to understand exactly what the Rate metric is in Popads Reporting. Here is another Image of a Popads report - Just for the Germany Geo. Any ideas?

Overall, I am trying to gather enough data to make good judgements in each GEO. For example, as you mentioned in a different post, the traffic numbers ar often weighted owards certain Websites. So I am buying more data and excluding the websites with already a lot of impressions. So I am trying to get impressions on all websites around the same number (i.e 600 impressions) to then be able to judge which sites are working and then subsequently focus on them.

What do you think of that for an approach to data gathering? It seems to me that each site should have the same number of impressions to create that initial level playing field.

So @mywebexperts you were correct, except the Rate metric is specifically the Cost per Mille for that row in the table.

I finally figured it out myself! The Popads Rate Metric = the equivalent Cost per mille impressions.

So from my report image above. in the first row of the table, 1,247 impressions cost $3.98.

(3.98/1247) x 1000 = 3.19

There is more math involved in this than I originally thought - it is indeed a numbers game!

Yup, it's how much you paid for 1000 impressions.

Congratulations! There's really no reason for the $1 pops guide not to work, keep up the good work

I have to say that I am still running the campaigns started in the $1 Guide. Now into my 6th day but struggling to keep them profitable overall. Now down -62%. I would really like to at least break even on this experiment before moving on to the 40 day guide. So I am taking it Geo by Geo and focusing on one at a time to see If I can turn a profit, then move onto the next one.

Why did I start losing money?
After my initial success on day 1, I started tinkering with the campaigns on the 2nd day and did not follow the guide to the letter, then kept adding funding to each campaign and tinkering more.
I figured that I was buying data that was going to be useful.

However, now on day 6 and -62% ROI I've started to go back to the guide and follow it to the letter on a single GEO, I hope I have enough data for each GEO to make them profitable now!

Would anyone like to help me at this point? If yes, what data do you need to help?

It's quite normal to go from seeing profits to losing, then back to profiting again, especially with campaigns that only spend a couple bucks a day. Low spend campaigns are rarely that stable, it's the nature of such campaigns.

On top of that, some of the changes you've done might have impacted the algo and the rotation changed, which resulted in a different traffic quality level.

Then there is the option of some change at the offer side... I'm not sure what they (mobipium) do with the collected subscriptions, but I guess they are selling at least part of them to those willing to buy, so there might have been a different deal in place when you saw the profits and that changed later on.

There is a lot of reasons here.

But anyways, the $1 guide wasn't meant to be the final destination for any affiliate marketer, it's just the start that should help you understand the basics and get the feel of running a campaign. Now it's likely time to up your game and explore the other option. Of course, if you feel like you want to follow it once more to get a better understanding, definitely give it another go and try to compare the results once you follow it to the T

Thank you @matuloo I have now noticed that the 2 most Profitable Geo's on day one, that I subsequently focussed on, reduced their payout from day 2 onwards by a huge amount.
i.e.
UAE day 1 payout 0.056
UAE Day 2 payout 0.024

CO day 1 payout 0.043
CO day 2 payout 0.003

This clearly significantly impacted my ROI and I did not notice it when it happened, but carried on tinkering!

That is a big lesson learnt, the devil really is in the detail.

As you advise, I will move onto the 40 day guide, but I may run this in parallel just to get it to break even,

I have re-run the first campaign in the $1 guide with All Geo's, not just the ones Mobipium said were their top Geo's just to see if I'm missing out on a good Geo.

That big drop in payout has made me totally skeptical about the Mobipium Geo recommendations!

See... there we have it. Likely a different buyer than on the previous day. That's why it's important to have fresh GEO data from the AM, as soon as they lose the ability to monetize some GEO properly, it's time to switch and return when the situation improves.

Thank you @matuloo and @mywebexperts for your valuable input and @vortex for the excellent 1$ Guide that has got me started.

Now I know what caused the campaigns to become unprofitable, I gained confidence and found another couple of Geo's that looked promising.

Using this post from @mywebexperts https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ide-Experiment I was able to create my own "optimum Bid Calculator" spreadsheet to ensure that my campaigns are profitable at a certain bid level, and I understand now why @mywebexerts; would group websites by Conversion rate, that makes sense for fine-tuning the campaigns.

So with the $1 Guide campaigns ticking along at a slow but profitable rate, I just need to keep an eye on them to make sure they maintain stability and now I can move onto @vortex 40 Day Tutorial with confidence!

PS: I found it hard to move onto the next step without finding a way to make my initial investement pay off. Now that's done I can move on!

Well, now I feel like Mobipium is stacking the odds against me. A Geo's I found that was working in profit also droped payout overnight.

From 0.03 to 0.005!!!

Because this has now happened in 3 profitable Geo's that tells me that Mobipium is an unreliable partner going forward!

Thanks to @matuloo I was able to spot the change and pause the campaigns in good time!

These offers with dynamic payouts really need a bit more baby sitting, but if you happen to run the right GEOs, it can still be a very interesting way of profiting. There aren't many other offer types that would convert so easily. This thread from twinaxe might be of interest to you as well, easy setup with directlinking... https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...Direct-Linking

Hi jemmsuk! How is it going?

Your AM probably sent you the top GEOs by Revenue. We do not measure the performance of the Smartlinks on eCPMs because we run them with a mix of our internal media buying traffic and affiliates traffic, and most of the affs are just sending millions of remnant clicks to the PN Smartlink. That's why we cannot measure the performance of this Smartlink with eCPMs anymore.

And I'm sorry about what happened with the payouts! Our algorithm is constantly adjusting them according to the quality of the traffic. If you sent a good amount of clicks, you can ask your Account Manager to tell you which are your sources with good quality, and run the Smartlink on a whitelist!
