JumpTap Mobile Road to El Dorado

Before I start,
I'd like to thank to leber026, shoent, steezy and The Angry Russian's 14 Days to Master Mobile Marketing Bible.

This actually is my 3rd campaign.
My first one was ringtone offer, I spent around $40 but made nothing.
My 2nd was credit report offer, spent around $100 but no conversions at all.

Here is my 3rd campaign.
Traffic Source: JumpTap
Offer: Cupid.com Mobile [US] from Adsimilis
Conversion Flow: single opt-in
Payout: $1.00 per Conversion
Preview: http://m.cupid.com/aff.php?country=us
I'm going with Adsimilis instead of Neverblue because I could use up to 5 subids and easier to read Adsimilis's subid report.
I am direct linking to this offer and these are my 5 subids,
aff_sub=JT_OPERATOR&aff_sub2=JT_HANDSET&aff_sub3=J T_PUBLISHER&
aff_sub4=JT_KEYWORD&aff_sub5=Android300250n1

I created 2 campaigns, one for Android and the other one for iPhone.
I created five each 216x36, 300x50 and 300x250 banners.
All of banners have animated borders that flashes 3 times.
Android campaign has 15 ads and iPhone one has 10 ads.

Here is today's result.
Impressions: 90,251
Clicks: 226
CTR: 0.2%
Costs: $21.80
Conversions: 0
Profit: -$21.80

Android campaign has higher ctrs(between 0.2 to 0.6) and iPhone one has 0.1.

I could really use some help here,
This mobile has been a lot harder than I expected.

Thanks.

great, I'll be following this. Why did you left alone the Feature phones ? I had success with them with Dating on Jumptap... out of your 226 clicks did one category get all the clicks ? I know its better to optimize with publishers but just curious....

Been messing around with Jumptap myself and have noticed horrible conversions regarding iOS on a number of campaigns (Is probably just me). I would start off with just targeting Android.

They are pretty much all over places..and I don't know why I didn't include feature phone, I usually make 3 campaigns for each OSs.

I will be just concentrating Android for now.

Thanks.

Oops I've just setup a campaign targetting iOS and I'm not getting great ctrs so will branch out to android to see how that differs. mrgoogle do you wanna add me on skype (richard300187) and maybe we can help each other out in getting things rolling as I'm new to mobile too.

It's weird, because most sites (including JumpTap's marketing reports) claim iPhone's have higher clickthrough rates than android, it might be because android skews heavily towards males whereas iPhone is more equal male-female. Females tend to click less but convert more if the copy is right (at least thats my experience from dating).

More testing is required

(edit: .5 CTR is the standard for android in the US, .78 for iOS)

I have added 6 more banners yesterday and I ran these for half day today.
Impressions: 47,802
CTR: 0.4%
Clicks: 189
Cost: $18.90
Conversions: BIG FAT ZERO

I wanted use EWA's Cupid wap offer instead of Adsimilis' but they all get rejected
because they couldn't see the landing pages.
When I checked the link, I could see it fine but when I checked for the second time I went to duplicate ip blank page.
I don't know why EWA do that but all the Cupid wap offers got paused later today anyway.
So I had to use Adsimilis' offer again.
There got to be something wrong with this offer.
I really think that I have to find different general dating offer.

Check with your AM about the offer, make sure to give them the specific CID (it's not a FB install right?). EWA's AM's are usually on top of that shit. I can't the specific offer in my EWA panel though.

I've noticed a few of their mobile foreign iPhone offers are also leading to blank pages.

I wonder what the biggest snag is here. I don't have much mobile experience but I have done dating before. The pics have an "attention whore" vibe instead of a sexting "I wanna bang you" vibe that I usually go for. But CVR is usually connected more to the adcopy... What's the CID for this offer in EWA?

I dunno something must be up. I looked at our offer description for CUPID - US - WAP and it specifically says "Affiliates MUST target Apple devices (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.)" Nothing about Android....

BTW we allow for 5 SUBID's as well in CAKE.

The adcopy and images seem fine, yes they get the attention and scream dating so not sure why the 0 conversions.

"Mobile WAP - Cupid: US 18+ (US)
CID 195288
All new affiliates are capped to 250 leads/day until the advertiser assess traffic quality. Once traffic quality has been assessed the cap can be removed or increased substantially.....
$0.80
Smartphone / WAP Compatible"
Like I said, all of Cupid wap offers got paused today.
And it doesn't say anything about Apple devices only either.

But I did use Adsimilis' offer,
here is description of this offer,
ID: 666
Name: Cupid.com Mobile [US]
Description: Cupid.com is a brand-name dating offer with mass appeal and solid conversions on male traffic in their 20s.
Wonderful landers ensure solid conversion rates. Very consistent performer.
Conversion Flow: single opt-in
Payout: $1.00 per Conversion
Expiration Date: December 31, 2015
Countries: United States
Preview: http://m.cupid.com/aff.php?country=us

I have never had such a hard time making a buck from new traffic sources.
I'm thinking about using Yeahmobi network, has anyone promoted mobile offers from them?

I have spent the week getting worked at Jumptap...Ran a couple of debt card offers...with very little success. Was told that a Partner Tracker offer was converting and I pitched a shut out. An account manager at Jumptap actually recommended this forum...so I am here to soak up the knowledge...get it in gear and share the wealth!

I will post data on my campaigns going forward-but it ain't pretty..

PS- Ran a Quikflirt campaign today and had 120 clicks ZERO conversions!

Make sure the offers your running have a track record and a good conversion rate. Ask your affiliate managers for screenshots!

WAP offers are very touchy, you need to have a converting offer before anything else.

There are so many variables to test - most offers that have been around for a while WILL work somewhere. It just depends on how patient you are with your testing. Those that convert with the obvious targeting are usually very saturated.

I will talk to my AMs this Tuesday.

Can you go into little details about variables?
I just want to make sure that I know all the variables for the next attacks.

Carrier, Handset OS, Handset Type, Publisher, Site, Creative, Bid, Budget, Traffic Source >> each one of these can have a big impact.

I found the offer and ran it.

The metrics I've got for cupid suck as well. I've ran it to 476 clicks 0 conversions. .6-.10% CTR

01-17-2012 11:36 PM #17 The Angry Russian (Moderator)

Its like people dont read my guide. When you say I ran 476 clicks and 0 conversions what was your targeting? Was it app traffic, BB, wifi, did you track your site ids?

There IS money in mobile and my network stands as a testament to that, as long as the offer converts I can make almost EVERY offer I touch profit (the issue usually is volume). So stop being lazy read, test methodically and stop throwing shit up at the wall hoping something sticks.

Bahaha, I angered the angry russian

I did some work on it, carrier/site/pub but still couldn't turn anything with it. It was regular mobile traffic, non wifi, no apps. ATT/Verizon/Tmobile.

Also, do you tend to carry over your blacklist from offer to offer?

Good Question - When you find sites to blacklist - do you blacklist the sites for future offers, too?

01-24-2012 01:01 PM #20 The Angry Russian (Moderator)

No i typically start from scratch. BUT what I do is create an account for each vertical. So for example my "ringtones" account I block things on account level so any new camp I build I know I wont run into the non performing sites again.
