Tip: Why You Should Use Dreamweaver For Your Landers

First of all, I highly recommend the Lynda.com essential dreamweaver CS5 training videos! The main reason I've been avoiding making landers all year is because for me it's been too time consuming. Too many programs open, too much shit to copy and paste, etc....

I put in a ton of hours watching the Lynda.com videos and came across the most amazing feature in DW (that I'm sure a lot of you already know about). It lets you link your newly created managed site to your ftp server! Quickly and easily, you can just sync your server with your recent changes.

With that door open, I realized that once I have a converting format or "template", I can create another image folder on my server and throw in some new images for another dating niche, some new words, and some new colors. With CSS, viola! You only have to code/design it once. Structure your file structure efficiently and you can blast out new landers in no time.

Here's a simple folder structure idea ("►" = folder, while "-" = file):

►LP Style 1
_____- singlemom.html
_____- BBW.html
_____- Christian.html
_____- UglyWomen.html
_____- design.css (used for all LPs)
_____► images (all images having the same names in each folder so you can just point your .html file to a different folder)
________► singlemom
________► BBW
________► Christian
________► UglyWomen
► LP Style 2
____-etc......

And if you want to change the color of the page to match the offer page, use inline CSS per page which has a higher priority than the external .css file.

So, if you're willing to put the time and effort into learning DW, you can cut down your time drastically in the future. The landing-page-creation process is becoming less intimidating every day.

Like all of you, my goal is to do the least amount of work possible while getting the most done. Unfortunately, you have to spend quite a bit of time learning how to do that first.

What are some of your methods?

PS, and on a short rant:

My first year of affiliate marketing has been learning how to spend less time getting all the technical stuff done. My second year is now going to be putting all that to use and concentrating on making money, which I am just starting to do!

Just starting out, you hear left and right, "make campaigns, make campaigns, make campaigns!" Some people have no problem jumping into that, but for anyone like me, you might find yourself coming up with a great idea that you want to test, just to sit down and realize literally don't know how to do it. By the time you figure out the design, tracking, reporting, analyzing...you realize that you've done half of it wrong and need to start over! That's the point where I used to just say "screw it, I'm not motivated anymore."

If you're in that stage, chill out for a few weeks, and learn what you need to learn.

Photoshop
Dreamweaver (or other tools)
Servers
Tracking
Organization
Read, Read, Read...

Put it all in a notebook, organized for easy access (MS OneNote, Thanks Inversion)

While at the same time, just continuously work on ONE campaign until you know you're doing it right! One day, all that stuff won't even be an issue. It'll be natural.

Just my .02

Thanks I figure it's about time to stop lurking and start contributing. I wish I knew Macs. Complete mystery to me.

Coda is sick! Been using it for years now! Much easier to manage compared to DW in my opinion but not as WYSIWYG friendly. But yeah, Panic products are great!
