Two Hustlers in NYC Trying to Make It

Hi guys,

Posting an introduction for our follow-along. We are two B2B sales guys from NYC starting affiliate marketing as a side gig, hopefully making enough to replace our full-time income. At the very least, getting enough money to cover rent would be absolutely AMAZING!

One of us has about 2 years experience off and on in affiliate marketing, while the other is completely new.

We have spent the last month going through Amy’s 40 day Voluum tutorial (incredible!), and have managed to launch a few quick campaigns.

We are now quite used to the process of ripping landers, cleaning them up, setting up hosting, and setting up camps on Voluum. Now, the hard part: executing & testing consistently until profits!

We are focusing on sweeps, with one of us giving Latin American geos a try, while the other one is giving Eastern European geos a go.

We will post our campaigns as we launch them.

Thanks so much guys!

@jack_l Yo I pivoted from native ads to another channel that is sweeps friendly and I've been finally profiting a lot... natives man... wtf
Why? I needed to build my budget back up after spending too much testing native ads with not much to show for it.

You guys on some solid networks for sweeps offers? And which traffic source you picked, is it push?

Hey Maynzie,

Thanks for checking in!

We are on Clickdealer, Mobidea, and Mappstreet for now. Do you have any recommendations for other networks?

Ah, we should have put the traffic source. We are starting with POP.

Will wait on advice form maynzie! In the meantime, here are some networks/advertisers that specialize in sweeps:

The rest of the guide to be posted ASAP! Should hopefully help you guys out a bit!

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in posting content here. One of our biggest struggles is balancing a performance based day job (no slacking allowed in sales!), so progress on AM has suffered as a result. Anyone else doing AM with significant other life commitments? Would love to hear how you structure our day!

Regardless, we are taking time to post a step-by-step of one of camps!

The camp we are posting is a Iphone giveaway focused on Polish traffic. We are using older iphone x offers, not the newer iphone 11 offers.

Offers
In the past two weeks we have been applying to networks and sorting through offers. We put together 5 offers to test for this camp.

Landers

We are testing 7 different landers. 4 of them are “carrier-style” landers that mimic the imaging/branding of carrier companies, and three are spinner type landers.

Campaigns

We launched 5 camps using Propeller ads to start; one for each carrier style lander (4 total), and one focused on all carriers.

Initial Optimization

We launched this camp yesterday night, and started optimization this afternoon. Here were the initial results. As expected, the first campaign contained most traffic, because all carriers are being targeted. We focused on this one first.

Drilling into this campaign, here are the results:

Looks like the first lander is doing best. Using a statistical significance calculator, we decided to cut the other landers!

Going further, we decided to see if one offer was doing better than others. As you can see, all the conversions are coming from one offer. Significantly so, as you can see in the significance test below. We decided to focus on this offer + lander combination for this camp.

We are not optimizing the other camps yet, as they don’t have enough data.

Next Steps

-Getting enough data for the “all carriers” camp and optimizing it per @vortex optimization guide.
-Setting up Spanish geo camps
-Learning Push traffic (a few offers we’ve seen only accept push and reject pops, and we have heard from other affs that this is traffic source is doing really well!)

Other news

We put up a post for a mastermind group. So far, we have managed to have a great conversation with a guy named Stepan, who is doing well running native and push camps. Thanks for connecting with us Stepan!

AM can be real tough to find time for when you still have a full-time job to go to. You guys are definitely not alone.

It may help to set aside most of your weekends for heavy-duty stuff like research/spying, ripping and cleaning landers, and setting up new campaigns. During weekdays when you guys are busy with your jobs, just check stats and maintain+optimize campaigns, and communicate with your AMs to get a batch of new offers ready for when the weekend rolls around.

How fortunate! It's always great when the same lander and same offer makes most/all of the conversions - saves money, time, and grief for us.

Good work on checking for stat sig!

All great plans!

If you're planning on learning push traffic, be sure to read that sweeps guide I've posted recently.

Main things to keep in mind:

1)Try CC Sub offers.

2)If not cloaking, start by running on traffic networks that allow extremely aggressive ads and landers so you wouldn't be disadvantaged by having to run less-aggressive creatives.

3)Run aggressive angles - start with the most-aggressive ones you find on Adplexity Push, and use your creativity to come up with even more-aggressive ones.

(This advice is purely to point you guys in the path of maximized profits, with complete disregard of ethics - that part I leave to you guys.)

Having other affiliates to bounce ideas off of and hold each other accountable for actions can be extremely valuable. Have fun with that!
