When to start promoting on FB again? (29)

When to start promoting on FB again?

Whats up everyone.
Since CPC is generally higher during year end, when is a good time to start marketing on Facebook again since that Christmas is over? Now or should i wait until the beginning of 2012?
Has anybody notice your CPC is getting lower?
thanks!

Looks like I didn't get the memo to stop.. learn to profit with higher CPC's or let the ones who do take all the money!

On PPC anyways, traffic has already gotten a lot cheaper since Christmas as competition has vanished...

ask for advice on the forum you pay $99.00 per month for?

It really depends on the countries/demos you are after.

For example on the countries I am running I didn't notice an increase at all...

Anyway , after Christmas CPCs should have decreased already.

I'll share my opinion that a person will get 3x more out of this forum if they take a couple of steps before asking for help.

The 3 reasons:

1) Learning by trying something is always more education than learning by asking.

2) Once they've gone through the steps, they will be able to ask a more targeted question to the forum. Thus, the answer will be more meaningful.

3) My observation is that the forum is much more responsive when someone takes a few steps first. i.e., instead of "when should I start FB traffic again?" a question that would generate more helpful comments would be "I ran some test traffic and it didn't seem any cheaper. Should it come down right after Christmas, or does it generally take until the first of the year?"

So, while my response may have appeared snarky, I'm really not trying to be a jerk about this. I believe it is to a person's benefit to try things first!

My coaching motto: "I will not help until the student has tried and failed."

@inversion - Great follow up here and I agree 100%.

@paullow If you're hesitant to get back in there and find out, perhaps try lowering your spends for the campaigns your running and going at it slowly to find out if costs have dropped or not.

thanks to everybody that respond.
Perhaps I didn't rephrase my question correctly. What i really wanted to know is are you guys experiencing cheaper clicks now compare to the beginning of the month since Christmas is over.
And @Inversion: I did run ads for the whole of December month. ROI on the whole is not that good. Hoping for a better month this coming January.

I know for sure it's still damn profitable right now... Go spend some money.

BTW inversion, I wish I had more teachers like you

@krueger - Thx :-)

Here's a real world example of why trying it yourself is always better. My CPCs over the holidays have only come down slightly. But . . . my conversion rates are crazy high, so my EPCs have been at least $0.50 higher than a couple of weeks ago, more than making up for any inflated click costs. (I had my highest profit day, ever, yesterday.)

Now, I'm only running 3 offers at the moment in 7 countries. I have no idea if this increase is specific to the offers, to the vertical, to the countries, to conversion rates on Facebook, to conversion rates in general during the holidays, etc., meaning, there would be no way I could know if it would apply to anyone else on the forum.

Test test test! :-)

My ROI on FB was negative the entire month of Dec., until Dec. 20, when it jumped up and has been very solid. And that had more to do with higher conversion rates rather than lower clicks.

Yeah, though, I'm hoping for a better January. :-)

Still lots of competition in the demo's i'm targeting in the US, my CPCs are sitting about 2-3x higher than when I initiated the campaigns and they creep up immediately unless I keep the bids low and hence sacrifice volume. The CPCs seem to be relentlessly following my hourly CTR without any regard for how well established the ad is - i.e. ad that got down to $0.05 clicks @ 0.300% CTR with 1000+ clicks is fluctuating between $0.11 and $0.15, will go even higher if I raise the bids.

That being said I can still profit, just want to chill out a bit until the new year and hope the competition drop lets me raise bids while getting lower CPCs. Time will tell.

I've experienced the opposite - fairly stable CTRs but diving CR from 23rd Dec and it hasn't picked up again yet. Can anyone share past years' experience on this - I'm wondering if people are doing a bit of tire kicking while chained to the family over Xmas.

Picking up with cr today, back to pre dec 23rd

Ya the new timeline ads are weird though...on alot of profiles I am seeing the lower ads get cutoff even with me scrolling the page....like if I scroll down then up they get stuck...

^ what were you running?

I've noticed they're putting the brakes a little bit on dating unless it's really coincidental. Be2 UK was running fine for me for months, last 4 days been uploading the most safe ads and everything gets disapproved.. Checked mywot.com and be2.co.uk is now red :/

PS to clarify this is the new msg I'm getting on anything promoting be2 UK
"Your ad or Sponsored Story violates the dating requirements of Facebook's Advertising Guidelines. Before resubmitting it, please visit our Help Center for additional information and examples compliant with our Advertising Guidelines."

Does anyone know if iframing helps this problem? Like I fully iframe the website under my domain.

@sm1810: That's the same automated message i get for all my disapproved dating ads on FB. Don't think it's specific to Be2 UK though.

^ I've never gotten this before.. I usually get this

The image included in your ad or Sponsored Story violates Facebook's Advertising Guidelines. Before resubmitting it, please visit our Help Center for additional information and examples compliant with our Advertising Guidelines.

or this

The text of your ad or Sponsored Story contains language that violates Facebook's Advertising Guidelines. Before resubmitting it, please visit our Help Center for additional information and examples compliant with our Advertising Guidelines.

^ Oh ok. I do get the second message from time to time too.

Would also like to know if iframing the offer lp helps it get through.

01-08-2012 11:58 PM #28 zeno (Administrator)

Probably. But you would need the domains to be similar - don't want FB reviewer will be like wut??? when the domain name is derpderp.com and it says welcome to Be2.

Also, iframing can get you burnt by your network or the advertiser, so you'll want to ask if it's ok first. It probably wont be. They may take leads off you if the find you iframing without permission.

All Be2 UK Pages have been red for a long time. Apart from cloaking, anyone know how to get round this?
