How important is https in landing pages?

I've read in some threads that it is extremely important to have a trusted website. I'm having a hard time implementing https with Vultr. Can anyone please assist me? Also, any tutorial for that matter in any vps hosting. Thank you.

I’d say it’s pretty important nowadays. If you collect any data on those landing pages, a recent versions of chrome will put “not secure” warning which may scare of some of website visitors. And having https can enable some cool features not (easily) available to insecure sites like push collections.

I’m not 100% percent sure now, but I think that I recently saw one traffic source that required destination url to be on https.

Probably the easiest and completely free way to setup https in any hosting is to use cloudflare.com CDN. It can provide more benefits like speeding up website load time as a side effect so it’s definitely worth giving it a try.

I've redirected your question to the great @zeno - here's his reply:

"For SSL, look up letsencrypt or certbot (same thing)

Free SSL via installing an agent on the server, just have to be sure to reactivate the SSL every 180 days

Most people do this now, or use Cloudflare, rather than buying SSL certs as the process is annoying"

Hope that helps!

I can't for the life of me find the post @Mrgreen wrote here about the difference of results they had when using https, but yes its a much better option to use it then not for campaign performance as it shows better results on a large test.

I know exactly the post you're talking about - I was the one that re-posted it (the original post made by MrG on FB).

If I remember correctly, https converted a whopping 4 times better than plain http.

I can't find the post now either - on the mobile app which doesn't have a robust search function. Will try to find it later when I'm on desktop.

@zeno has written detailed instructions on setting up SSL in the FunnelFlux knowledgebase, but they’re not specific to any tracker.

Server/certbot installation:
http://docs.funnelflux.com/en/articl...on-your-server

Cloudflare:
http://docs.funnelflux.com/en/articl...tting-free-ssl

I couldn’t have done it without these articles (I ended up going with Cloudflare).

Something to note that I just came across is, if you plan on using ZeroPark as a traffic source, your redirect chain (including any custom tracking domains) must use https now. So, unless you’re directly linking to your landing page with no tracking, you’ll need to have SSL specially setup on your custom tracking domain too (if using Voluum, this is an extra charge).

Bemob gives you free SSl for your custom domain. As for the landing pages, I followed @jimmyvanillla suggestion and use Cloudflare. I just whitelist my target country in Cloudflare firewall so it won't trigger a ban.

The FB post is linked from this thread of yours Amy: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ntiom-to-tip-2 Took me a while to find it, I forgot that MrGreen posted it on FB, so I was searching for it here on STM

For the OP, we have several threads on setting up SSl, for example

- https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...re-ServerPilot

BTW: I did a fair share of testing in order to compare SSL secured and non-secure and didn't notice any big changes in performance. Sometimes I had better results with ssl, sometimes without. So I'm not really bothering with this much and a significant part of my campaigns is still using the standard HTTP.

I didn't find a measurable difference between http and https: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...(didn-t)-learn

I remember that post of yours, thanks for sharing it here! I've done several tests like this, HTTP vs HTTPS, CDN vs VPS, VPS vs DEDICATED ... and never really experienced any significant difference. But then again, I don't run something like mobile POPs, the effect might be bigger with the intrusive formats.
