Tracking incoming traffic (CPA model) from Advertizer on Voluum

Hey guys,

I'm trying to do something slightly complex and getting a bit stuck.

I've created my own lander. I want to buy traffic (push installs for that matter) on Advertizer. I'm lost on two things:

1. How do I set it up on the Voluum side of things (I'm required to do a conversion test on Advertizer and I assume they are expecting some Voluum URL)?
2. Which piece of JS code should I implement on my lander on a successful conversion so that Voluum knows that a conversion has been made

Another more general question, what is the flow of data exactly? Am I correct in assuming it's:

Advertizer sends traffic to lander -> on conversion lander lets Voluum know -> Voluum lets Advertizer know -> Advertizer charges their CPA fee?

Thanks!

Hey man,

I think you are following-up on @xeturgy's case study.

I recommend you to take a look as he just posted some updates to his thread with some additional scripts and screenshots of the postback setups as well:

I've checked @xeturgy case study (thanks @erikgyepes for the link) and he's added tracking setup to the first post - follow his instructions and if you're lost in your Voluum setup - let me know, I'll take a look and help you fix it.

According to the case study:

1. Set up Advertizer as a traffic source in Voluum, make sure you paste traffic source postback URL to its setup in Voluum to be able to let Advertizer know when a conversion occurs. Then, add a tracking code with your postback URL to your lander - this way when a user accepts your notification, the postback is fired to Voluum and the conversion is recorded. Add your lander as an offer in Voluum. Finally, create a campaign using this offer only (direct linking) and paste the campaign URL on Advertizer's side.

2. xeturgy shared his code in the post, check it out.

Another more general question, what is the flow of data exactly? Am I correct in assuming it's:

Advertizer sends traffic to lander -> on conversion lander lets Voluum know -> Voluum lets Advertizer know -> Advertizer charges their CPA fee?
Correct. In this case - accepting your push notifications is when a conversion happens.

In case of problems, xeturgy offered to help. I'm also here if you need me

Hey Karolina (@Voluum), thanks for offering help. I've gone through the case study and tutorial but it's still not tracking the conversions (does track visits though so I assume I'm almost there). Could we chat briefly on Skype so you can point out what I've missed? I have added you.

A little offtopic, but...I understand Volume rep is supporting their platform in this thread, but I would 100% not recommend using "pay per event" cloud tracking platform to collect push subscribers on pop traffic.
Especially if you are serious about running any sort of volume. You can easily go through your monthly allowance on the beginner plan in a matter of minutes with Advertizer. Speaking from experience.

Ted, it's not even about supporting my platform here - I'm not trying to sell it whatsoever, just answer questions asked about Voluum (and not Volume ) as exhaustively as possible.

I'm here for our community, to learn and engage cause I really want Voluum to get better and better - so if you have anything against or for Voluum, anything but the fact we're cloud-hosted (as I can't help with that, in fact I consider it to be our advantage), let me know.
