Holidays affecting click prices?
Today I've noticed that the suggested bids on my ads that are running for weeks are 50% higher than yesterday, ceteris paribus...
I didn't realize it's almost christmas, so probably the suggested bids went up because every retailer is trying to advertise on the weekend right? Anybody else having the same experience?

it's q4.....all the big brands advertise heavily..especially retailers like you already mentioned...in january it should go back to normal..ceteris paribus (one of my profs used that in nearly every sentence..i guess he wanted to sound intellectual :-) )

Yeah I know about Q4, but from one day to another it suddenly jumped 50%, so it's not just that... Go away christmas!

it can be that....esp since this is the last big push proir to xmas....
also your ads that have been running for weeks are prob stale.....and your getting beat at auction.....and if your cpc is set high....your gonna just pay more...

@polar: My demo is huge, CTR is the same as I launched them... But I've been noticing that I have to bid every week one cent higher to go through all my budget... Not sure what to do. BTW now suggested bid is back to normal... Guess I just didn't see enough of facebook's randomness.
Thanks for sharing the insight!

Everyone's getting the new timeline. That's got to be affecting CTR >> prices.

it doesn't matter that your ctr is the same.....the algo looks at the auction and give you imps accordingly....your loosing bids due to new adverts beating your ad rank......

Focus on different countries then. There are plenty of countries that are barely feeling the effect of the holidays. Since the start of December, I've decreased my volume in the US and allocated to other international countries. Worked out quite well.
