LI PPV spying
Often, what should be a simple task, turns into an unnecessary marathon.
Wanting to spy on PPV popups I tried to install hotbar on IE from hotbar.com. Couldn't get it to install. So, after some Googling, I went to clickpotato.com and installed the iLivid Download Manager.
I have their toolbar now loaded in IE, but cannot get anything to pop right now.
Any pointers/scolding/jokes/abuse would be gratefuly received to help me achieve my task.
Oh, and it's on a spare box for obvious reasons.

Did you restart the PC afterwards? Might kick it into life. Also try using a US proxy or VPN, there are more pops for US traffic. Visit amazon.com because LI pop on there themselves so it's a good test that all is properly installed. No popups on Amazon.com means something is wrong.

will not start poping immediately for some weird reason but it will work later so give it a day maybe.

Thanks for your feedback guys.
When trying to install hotbar from their setup.exe it gives me an 'invalid configuration' error so I've emailed Hotbar's support for assistance.
When I solve this I will post the solution here to help others.

this download has worked for me in the past:
http://bit.ly/vIkgfC (link updated to zip file as bitly would not allow exe file to be lnked)
it basically downloads a new latest copy of the hotbar plugin onto your machine. install when your VPN switched on so you have a new fresh US ip. after install reboot, if its not popping give it a couple of days.

Many thanks for the link @tijin. Unfortunately, when running the setup, the installation gives the error 'illegal instruction' and bombs.

(I'm using XP Pro on this box)
Who'd have thought that installing adware would be so hard?

Try this out.

This file was posted by STM Forum member @Mugga in this tread:

I am not sure if there is anything special about this installer or not, but this is what I have used for months and it pops like mad! I have it and Gamevance installed on Win XP Pro and it's a deadly combo. I hit a popular keyword in IE on there and I get HB and GV to pop and then HB usually pops again based off of one of the two new windows (and yes Hotbar DOES pop over it's own popup windows - Tested, Proven and Shady)
If you are having issues with the install, maybe the version of Internet Explorer is to blame. If you are running IE 9, try downgrading to 7 or 8. I downgraded to IE7 on that install because a lot of people are still running IE7 and I can also test how my pops show on the older versions of IE (there can be differences depending on what code you are using).
EDIT: Whoops! Sorry, that file is the GameVance installer, not Hotbar. But you can try these:
http://www.clickpotato.com or http://freezeflip.com
The advice about IE version still stands though.

Same problem here, the hotbar wont install anymore. Is it possible that LI did something to it? Also Clickpotato and the other addons I install along with it, none of them give me any pops.

curious here. is there a direct relationship between amazon.com and lead impact?
do you mean lead impact promotes amazon.com products?

Still having the same problem - no popups. No, not figured it out yet.
I emailed the support team at hotbar about it, but have received no reply (as yet).

Yes, exactly that. Try bidding on amazon.com and you can't, yet it pops every single time I go there.

Don't tons of guys cookie stuff on tv too? I always see the amazon lp popping on amazon.com. Amazon sues for that kinda thing left and right... Digital point comes to mind. Or could serving a popup ad be considered fair game?

Hey friends,
If someone really needs a software to get LI popups, try downloading iFreeTV. Just google it and install it. It surely starts showing popups instantly

Try to set (in the future) the date on that machine and reboot it, you should see some popups
