Hey dudes,
Question regarding firing Facebook pixels using the
In the case where an advertiser/offer doesn't allow for iFramed pixels and only supports Postback URL's, how do you fire your conversions back into Facebook?
I'm currently going back and forth with Voluum on this, but in the interim i've found documentation which calls for the Pixel Redirect URL feature in Voluum to do just this.
In short, it's says to take the nonscript url (https://www.facebook.com/tr?id=#####...ead&noscript=1) from the Facebook pixel and place that into the Pixel Redirect URL field for the traffic source. I've tried and tested this method a dozen times and 10 different ways and haven't been able to get it to pass through to Facebook.
Alternatively, I know some manipulate their Voluum postback when giving it to the network to pass through the Facebook event. Any advice on how to do that would be extremely appreciated!
Note: this topic was previously discussed in 2015-16 here, but ended before getting to the bottom of it.
Facebook conversion tracking is client-side, meaning it has to be fired by a user's browser.
The end user who converted has to be the one who loads the FB JS or image pixel, as this is the only way Facebook can determine who the person actually is, what ad they clicked on, etc.
There is no way to make another system, tracker, etc. fire this instead.
Ahhhh, alright. It's absolutely bizarre that
When you say "fire this instead", how do you mean when an offer only accepts a postback?
I appreciate your help Zeno! You're on it
The pixel redirect URL - for that, you could certainly put an image pixel in there and have it get inserted on the offer page -- but that is done using iFrames.
I.e. if you take the
As for "firing this instead" i mean you can't have a server trigger a client-side conversion event (e.g. via FB javacsript) on behalf of the user.
Hence, if an offers supports postback URL tracking only, there is no way to make Facebook tracking work for the offer conversion.
The best you can do is track clickthrough events on your lander to at least get the deepest possible event before conversion that you can track.
