Yoo,
So I just came across this credit card and it looks pretty awesome for us aff marketers. A few months ago I remember mentioning in a thread that the Amex Gold Business card gave 2 points per dollar spent on advertising but now I've found a card that destroys the Amex Gold!
It's called the Capital One Spark Business Card. Now I don't have the card but it looks like it's a good deal. 2% cash back on ALL purchases (not just ad spend). It has an annual fee of $59 (free the first year). You can get employee credit cards for free.
So here are the pros of the Capital One card and the cons of the Amex Gold:
Capital One Card Pros
2% Cash back on EVERY purchase uncapped
$0 annual fee first year, $59 after
FREE employee credit cards
$100 bonus after spending $1k in 3 months
$50 bonus for getting an employee card
Amex Gold Business Card Cons
2 points per dollar spent on advertising, capped at $100k spend a year
$0 annual fee first year, $179 I think after
Employee cards are more $$$
One good thing the Amex card has though is that it gives 50,000 points after you spend $10k in 6 months.
If you want to read more about the Capital One card you can here
Anyways, I'm not affiliated with Capital One or Amex but just thought you guys that are looking for a new card might find this helpful. Also, I don't have a Capital One business card so I can't comment on how good it really is... it just looks good from what I've read. :-)
I thought 2% cashback without strings attached was bullshit, but this looks to be a legit offer. A lot of people that blog about personal/smallbiz finance are saying that the Spark cards are intended to compete with Chase Ink for the small business accounts.
There's another version that gives you airline miles at a rate of two miles per dollar spent. That could be pretty cool as well.
2% cashback at a flat rate with no limits is far and beyond the best offer though.
God I sound like an ad.
I was looking at this card recently. They've been advertising it BIG TIME lately from what I've seen, and I assumed that it is too damn good to be true. I'm assuming things are handled differently on a business card, but my personal Capital One credit card is a pain in the ass. Consistently takes 7-8 days after I make a payment just for my credit limit to be restored. Shit sucks.
Depends on what you want out of the credit card.
If you travel a lot, AMEX platinum has some good benefits ($200 back on airlines, priority pass etc) but has lost a lot of partners in transferring points (Continental which was a biggie).
Chase with their Ultimate Rewards on both Ink Bold (business) or Sapphire is pretty good points wise I think.
If you're into maximizing your points then I would check out blogs like thepointsguy.com and the flyertalk.com forum. Just from getting some more cards that had great bonus offers and running normal spend through them anyway I'm going to come out this year with ~ 300 - 400k points across a bunch of programs..
ya BE careful with cap-one......
they also have a 3% card as well where you have to be specific about what you want the 3% on....but advertising is one of the choices......
sounds great right?
I called and spoke with them.....they were very vague about what counts and what doesn't.....they kept telling me I needed to apply then talk to a benefits specialist.....
from my dealing with capone in the past....they can be a bit shady in how they promote stuff.....and what qualifies and what doesn't....
so word to the wise would be watch them and your statements like a hawk......esp if you plan to run large volume thru the card advertising wise.....
^^^ Took me a while. I thought you were talking about Al Capone.
AMEX Plum gives 2% cash back and no spending limit. Great card.
Is it easy for everyone to get these AMEX Plum cards? I have been hearing a lot about them. Are they really 'NO-SPEND LIMIT' cards?
Reminder that you do need to pay tax on your cashback rewards, but not on points if you use them on things like airline rewards.
Pretty sure it's 1.5% for anything now.

I have a grandfathered 2% for all spend.
But...
If you do the math and travel a lot points are a much value your for your money.
1. Cash back is a taxable event so I pay 50% in taxes that means cash on cash I"m only get 1%
2. I use the Starwood card for most stuff. I've done the math a few times on spending the points on hotels based on what the hotel would cost in cash and it usually comes out to around 4% back if you choose your hotels right. Also, with points they are a non-taxable event.
so 1% or 4% you choose. Of course if you don't travel then the cash is going to be better.
Thanks Jason,
I was under the impression that points held value and were taxable as well. If they're not then airline/hotel points are the clear winner!

Interesting. I didn't know the cash rewards were taxable. Going to start looking into airline-reward cards instead. I've got a big issue ahead of me with figuring out how to acquire the "right" business card for me, in addition to picking what kind of business is right for me. I like to know the complete ins and outs of something like this before I get involved with it... so I either need to get in contact with one of you or a tax attorney, haha.
Does someone have tryed to get a US Card without a adress in the states?
Tired of moving my money around from US to Europe and back. Would like to have it for the US stuff just staying there.
