CPVLab Tip - Use Landing Page Sequence Campaigns

Heres a quick post with a tip I just got from CPVLab/Robert.

I wanted to change a campaign from a simple DL/Landing Page type to a Multi Option type. Unfortunately that involved setting up a new campaign and therefore a new campaign URL.

And I am now waiting for TV to approve this new URL.

Instead - in future - Robert suggest setting your campaigns up as Landing Page Sequence Type.

You can still do just DL or single LP with this Type.

But it allows you in future to amend your campaign to LP sequence or multi option or email capture - without having to change your campaign URLs and therefore request reapproval in TV.

In LI you can update your creative URL and it doesnt need reapproval by the way

This is a GREAT tip!

with prosper you still have the problem you need to use a new link which sucks. (or not!?!?)

Quick addition to this, in case anyone has the same issue I did with the landing page sequence campaign.

I set up a flow & couldn't get it to work (links weren't working right). Here's my ticket to the CPV lab folks, and Robert's answer, which worked like a charm btw.

Some of this will change with the next update to 2.13...but mostly I think it can just clarify things for anyone who's somewhat new to CPV Lab:

Here was my question:

I'm having a tough time with the Landing Page Sequence campaign.

On first click, it works fine:

LP1 link goes to LP2...
LP2 links (3 options currently) go to the right offer sets...

But if I go back to LP1 and click again, it goes to offer set #1 instead of going to page 2 again.

Here's another thing I'm wondering about.

Step 1: that's the base2.php - I've got that on LP1
Step 2: also have it on LP1.
Step 2b: same thing, using the landing page ID of 1
Step 3: I don't have optin. Do I need this?
Step 4: Added this to LP2 - should I remove it? There's no optin.
Step 5: Do I use this if I use Step 6?
Step 6: Didn't work with base3.php, but worked when I changed it to base2.php and added the ?id=xxx (for xxx, I put the option #...1 2 3 or 4).

Hope that helps you help me!

Thanks,
Liane
...and here was the response:

Hey Liane,

On first click, it works fine:
LP1 link goes to LP2...
LP2 links (3 options currently) go to the right offer sets...
But if I go back to LP1 and click again, it goes to offer set #1 instead of going to page 2 again.

--------------> Yes, this is because the cookie was placed and they've already visited page 2. We've added a cookie priority feature in the 2.13 update which will be released soon, that will take care of this. Also, are your offer and lps links setup using base2.php?

Here's another thing I'm wondering about.
Step 1: that's the base2.php - I've got that on LP1
-----------> Good

Step 2: also have it on LP1.
-----------> Good

Step 2b: same thing, using the landing page ID of 1
-----------> Good, I'd go with the PHP version by the way.

Step 3: I don't have optin. Do I need this?
-------------> No, not required

Step 4: Added this to LP2 - should I remove it? There's no optin.
-----------> Yes, remove it if you don't have an opt-in

Step 5: Do I use this if I use Step 6?
------------> Don't use it.

Step 6: Didn't work with base3.php, but worked when I changed it to base2.php and added the ?id=xxx (for xxx, I put the option #...1 2 3 or 4).
------------> Make sure you have these settings in the campaign:
- Lead Capture in Sequence set to YES (even though you don't)
-Thank You Page Tracking set to OFFER

These settings will allow you to use base2.php for your landing pages and use base3.php for all of your offers.

Thank You!
Robert
Hope that helps (someone other than me)!

I generally have my landing pages setup to a seperate php page on my site that only has a redirect to the link in CPVLab or Prosper. That way if I ever want to switch to a new campaign I don't have to get re-approved landing pages by TV or other PPV networks. I tested speed and really no difference as that would be the potential downside is another redirect. If it is on same server it goes seamlessly.

Wait - are you saying you have a redirect before the CPV Lab / P202 redirect?

what about passing variables.... shouldn't you explain how you pass the variables from traffic source to your local page to cpvlab? or is that not necessary?

I know the answer to that.

It's magic.

But seriously, CPV lab walks you through that, so it's not an issue.

if we use "Landing Page Sequence"

can we split the traffic to landing page and offer, like we can in the "direct link & landing page"?

i think the option is % to LPs: xx

Yes you can. The way you setup the direct link is you set it up as a redirect. I've attached the redirect page that Robert sent me.

thanks minh1204

so basically, we would put the above redirect file as a landing page?

then what happens is when the pages are rotated between landing pages and the redirect script, the redirect can be tracked as a unique page?

make sense... i think!

the caveat to doing this... the target CTR stats gets all funky because we are registering a click with the redirect script every time...

anyone have a solution to this?
