Transparent Follow Along - From the ground up..
Hey STMer's.
Today was the first time I set up campaigns, ad sets and ads using the Cookbook Method..
Please feel free to critique my ads, comment on the arrangement and methods in the campaigns
Plus I have a few questions at the end, that I hope member can help me answer...
And roast the site here ....https://.com/forum/showthread.php?38339-Roast-Me-Like-My-Name-Was-Charlie-Sheen
So fare..
**WWWaaaay to much niche research
***Created a Shopify site, that needs optimisation
****Plus having issue with the payment gateway due to residential status of the bank accounts and paypal restrictions..
Step 1
Create 1 page post ad
Step 2
Set Up Campaign
Step 3
Create first Ad Set ----- titled
interests
Step 4
Duplicate the Ad - Do not change any settings, image of text.. We are testing at the Ad Set Level.
Some how I created a bucket load of ads by accident - not sure how this happened.. its been a long day..
STEP 5
Create additional Ad Sets - Covering all the parameters suggested in the cookbook...
I have scheduled the ad to start running tomorrow even due to still trying to fix the payment gateway / cart issue.... But I dont think that I will use this ad campaign as my first flow of traffic, because...
So heres my question...
$12.50 is the profit after payment and epack and merch costs..
I have created 4 ad set at a budget of 6.25 usd per day x 4 days . this equals = $150 Usd
I understand that we must spend money to test, gather info and find winning products but I feel that this could be a waist of money and time at this point .. because ..
** I am not yet sure of the correct price point to sell this product
** I am unsure if the seller / merch is a reliable source
** I dont believe that the copy and image are strong and compelling .. it maybe better starting with smaller priced offer to learn the ropes first.. And if i keep testing product at high ad spends Ill be out of the game before I learn the rules..
Plus I have some tech issue that I still don's yet under stand....
How do I get
Shopify to automate my currency to AUD from USD???
Should I have all my email / abandonment sequences doe first ???
Should I test purchase a buy though the Shop before opening to the public......
I will apologies in advance as I know some of these questions could be considered trivial or common sense, but im going at this alone and I could use a nudge in the right direction ..
Thanks you all and I look forward to your replies

Hi dancnx, I'm totally new in this kind of business, but I would like to see what and how you're going. I hope you will do well with it!

Nice work! Looks good.
I'd recommend adding a line to your ad saying something like "tag your fishing-crazy friends!". People will tag a surprising amount, giving you bonus reach.
You've also misspelled "wasting" in your ad - "waisting" is not correct and will probably reduce conversions a bit.
Looking forward to your first results!

I suggest not to put your total budget on several ad sets with only one image to test (unless you already tested 100's of images and this one was the best). Image has around 70% influence on the success of your ad, so better focus on which images do best at begin of your data gathering.

Thanks for the heads up StickUpKid..
Can you please suggest a system to test images to refine and choose the best performing image to double down on??
IE : The same system that is suggested in the Ecomm cookbook with less daily budget? or less that 4 days?
Or, an alternative method of FB advertising to test what image gets the best engagement though metrics such as likes, comments, shares and click throughs...
Im eager to hear your advice on this one as I could really burn through some cash with this current method, plus im still trying to learn the other moving parts of the machine at the same time and I would rather same ad spend for when Im more confident in the Niche, copy, follow up and fulfillment..
Hope that made sense, not sleeping much these days..
Cheers mate
and thanks every one for chipping in ...
Please keep the comment coming ..

Running your own e-commerce thing has a lot of benefits (tweak every button from A to Z to get max ROI - with minimum effort). Downside is you HAVE to tweak all buttons yourself...
Perhaps it's good to take a step back and check which parts of the funnel are quite "certain" or at least covered well. Go through it step by step and see what parts you can test now and/or later on. Pushing traffic to the store isn't hard, pushing cheap traffic to the store is a thing. If you want cheap (and relevant) traffic from FB make sure you test precize targeting (fishing- check) and the best images+text. It's a waste of budget to push traffic to bad and expensive ads, to gain data for your shop.
I suggest to test at least 3-4 ad sets with each 3 different images. Move on with the best copies and tweak them (text, emoticons, asci codes) to reach the highest CTR/relevance score. From here you can boost volumes without losing too much money on data gathering for your shop.
Note: this is just one way to work, ofcourse their are other ways to find out the best way to run your shop.

Yes sir, it aint easy running the entire ship.
Thanks for taking time out of your day to first read my posts, and reply with some great insights on my current situation.
I have taken a bit of time off the laptop and drawn out the most simple version of the sales funnels for my ecomm business, with out going into crazy detail of up, down, sideways and reverse sells. This was a basic process but really gave me a good insight of what i need to do now..
* create a basic cart abandonment email sequence
* Thank you and product shipping email sequence
- tracking code
* find an app or option inside of
Shopify that allows me to sell in the currency of the GEO I am selling in, currently in Aus, but wanting to target multi GEO's
* Test payment gateway and email sequences
Once I have completed these tasks, I have then created the core basics of the sales funnel, which can latter be tweaked with offers and optimisation.
I have a quick question about the StickUpKid Ad Method
* Test min of 3 - 4
ad sets
- each with three different images
* Then move on with the best copies and tweak them (text, emojis and ascic codes)
* Goal is to reach the highest CTR / Relevance score
Question
Should every image have its own copy? and what style of ad would this fall under in the power editor?
How much money do you put behind each Ad Set and how long do you run the fist campaign?
Once again, thanks for the advice.
Im taking the rest of the night off from the laptop , reading a book and getting back at it tomorrow with fresh eyes.
My first task tomorrow with be completing the stages of the sales funnel that I can now complete, this is not only a great idea for the business but I believe this will allow me to spend more time focusing on the task in front of me and not worrying about what's not been done.
Im finding half of the battle with this Internet Marketing business is mental challenges, as well as technical and financial.
I will continue to post the next Ad Campaign in this thread, and link all thread back to the original follow along for any one who is also getting started.
Regards dancnx
heres to getting green..
(with a lot of help)

Make sure you test around 9/12 different ones, perhaps some with just a slight change/adjustment.
Just single image ad, but I could imagine carrousel and video are very relevant for your niche too!
Best to let it run 24-48hrs at least, unless you see one is really starting off poor (low ctr, high cpc). I am not sure about your budget ofcourse but I start most of time between with 10-30 euro per ad set.
Good luck man, take your time for each part of the funnel. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon...
