Legal issues for promoting trademarked things

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question - did any of you have legal issues for promoting trademarked things? And if so, at what scale and how did you sorted it out?

Thanks in advance

Can you be more specific please?

Are you referring to using trademarked logos on landers, or what?

Hey there!

Agreeing with Amy, some more details would definitely help

But already now, as an affiliate network representative, I can tell you that if, for instance, you are using corporate logo/name in offer's promotion (lander, banner), you might get banned by an affiliate network and an advertiser. So this is definitely forbidden. (Check what else we don't allow here - https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...d-my-creatives)

If we are talking about e-commerce, there are different rules applied that I'm not very familiar with, but in general, I believe if you are selling a replica but promote it as an original product using company's logo - you are very likely to get in trouble.

Let's say it's the same situation as if I would promoting copy of star wars product, with star wars logo on it, not necessarily claiming it's original star wars product.
Thanks for help

I think you know that it's pretty obviously against the rules if you are selling a Star Wars product with a Star Wars logo, even if you aren't explicitly claiming it's an official product...

But will you get a C&D? Or can you fly under the radar? From what I've found it depends on the brand. Two examples.

1) Used to do "free coins" type of sites, monetized with content locker. I ran multiple sites based around brands/games/etc. successfully for years and never heard a peep. Another friend of mine ran a site related to Runescape, and he got a C&D within days, before he was even ranking first page or getting traffic.

2) Used to sell replica snapbacks on eBay. Sold Diamond Supply Co. and a few other companies for years with no problem. But then I tried to list HUF socks and got a C&D within 24 hours.

I'd recommend against messing with copyright. It's easy because the demand is already there but you can get shut down in the blink of an eye.
