CPVLab new version losing clicks? (59)

10-29-2011 06:26 AM #1 shanktank (Member)
CPVLab new version losing clicks?

2 days ago, I noticed a significant drop in traffic for my ppv camps.

I thought LI was just being a bitch or something.
Same thing happened today, losing me even more money.

So, I took a closer look, pulled the stats from cpvlab and LI (& also mediatraffic just to confirm my theory)

You can see on the 26th, the discrepancy % is fairly typical for LI.
But look at it on 27th (the day I upgraded to the latest version of cpvlab)
Data for 28th isn't available yet, so I'll update later if needed.

I then looked at my mediatraffic numbers to see if it was just LI doing crazy shits.
Once again, you can see the discrepancy % jump on 27th & 28th.

What do you guys think?
Are you guys that are using the new cpvlab seeing the same thing? Or is it just me?

I read on another forum about similar issues with CPVLab's latest version

10-29-2011 07:24 AM #3 hd2010 (Member)

@shank : drop a ticket to Robert

10-29-2011 08:51 AM #4 tijn (Moderator)

yeah I would pick this up with robert but also at the same time see who else is seeing this. Ive not got any active campaigns right now so cant check myself.

my cpvlab upgrade failed for some reason (mistake on my end i guess) so ive not yet got the current version live.

ill get it setup and run a test to see what results I get

10-30-2011 10:43 AM #5 alex_b (Member)

Just got cpvlab and upgraded to 2.13, wanted to set up my first campaign but after reading this I'm a bit afraid to do so.

Shank, did Robert reply yet?

10-30-2011 12:17 PM #6 shanktank (Member)

yep. still looking into it.
not many ppl are replying to this thread, i suppose it's only me.

just go ahead and launch your camp.

10-30-2011 12:37 PM #7 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Let's just do a test and see how many clicks it loses.

Send me a link and I'll rush through my Blitz.io account and see how many clicks it records.

10-30-2011 03:21 PM #8 shanktank (Member)

What a sweet lookin tool.

I tested it with 250users/1 min. Got 3148 hits, 1398 timeouts.
cpvlab registered 3151 clicks.

Should I include the timeouts too? If not, why are there 3 extra clicks?

Tested 2nd time with 200users/1 min. Got 3086 hits, 633 timeouts.
cpvlab registered 3784 clicks. (whut? why is it more than the generated hits?)

Tested 3rd time with 50users/1 min. Got 1298 hits.
cpvlab registered 1313 clicks.

10-30-2011 03:40 PM #9 alex_b (Member)

So timeout would mean your host can't handle that load?
And CPVlab registered almost 700 extra clicks in your 2nd test (200 users/m) - did it take into account the timeouts? (but then why didn't it in the first test?). Still doesn't seem to explain the discrepancy jump since upgrading. I'll go ahead though and launch my campaign and see what happens.

10-30-2011 06:09 PM #10 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Ok boys and girls , time for some stats.

I tested the latest CPVLab vs latest P202 on a monster server sending 1050 concurrent users per second ( testing a DL campaign ).

Here are the results :

P202 :

http://screencast.com/t/ES31srUJt

CPVLab :

http://screencast.com/t/O4YFvZxSWz

Also , CPVLab didn't track ( lost ) 1412 clicks while P202 for some odd reason over-tracked 35 clicks.

So I would wait a bit before using the new CPVLab with big volume.

10-30-2011 06:35 PM #11 alex_b (Member)

Thanks for doing the test and sharing the results!

This is a bit much to ask but did you also try this with a 2.12 install of cpvlab?

Or in other words, the new version is fine for low volume?

10-30-2011 06:49 PM #12 bbrock32 (Administrator)

I don't have a 2.12 installation at the same server so running on a different server would make no sense.

And yeah , I think it's ok for low volume.

I was sending insane traffic ( 1025 users per second ) so that's not typical.

Just wanted to make aware guys running big volume.

10-30-2011 07:08 PM #13 tijn (Moderator)

great test bbrock!

I guess this is a somewhat obvious question that you will have covered, but can you confirm both cpvlab and 202 had the same setup for referrer blanking/cloaking and were redirecting to the same final page?

10-30-2011 07:13 PM #14 danny27 (AMC Alumnus)

I ran into a different problem. Not just clicks but conversion count. There was 10 conversions initially, after a subid update, 5 conversions were lost. How could this be? Anyone experience this? Do you guys normally dump the entire list of subid's including previous that were already updated in cpvlab? I tend to just paste the entire list without filtering duplicates out from previous exports.

Yeah it was for same offer ( it was a direct link campaign ) without cloaking the referrers.

10-30-2011 10:05 PM #16 vidivo (Member)

P202 for the win!!

But anyways i've seen a decrease in traffic in my campaigns as well, and I use p202. I think its the halloween weekend to be honest. I run pretty general campaigns though but still i think people are outside more and not on the computer which is the reason...

10-30-2011 11:21 PM #17 phoenix (Member)

I dropped CPVlab awhile ago because of this and it seems to have gotten worse.

P202 tuned by Tyler on Beyond-Hosting. KILLED the blitz.io test

Before on LW I was losing [going to a blank page] 30%-80% of my traffic (and that was their top dedicated)

now on BH & new P202.

Almost flawless. (you will never get 100% match... for many reasons)

Dont spend the $10,000's+ I did to find this out (probably more like $100,000+ overtime and thats not including lost profit)

blitz.io has been one of the best 'gifts' from this forum

10-30-2011 11:38 PM #18 jspecify (Member)

I second that!

I have a few servers with beyond hosting, and I use p202 and cpvlab with BH and out of 3 different hosting providers, BH is by far superior.

10-31-2011 05:02 AM #19 gulftrotter (Member)

So what do u think: shall choose p202 or cplab ( last version seems to be buggy?!) ?

10-31-2011 05:58 AM #20 gulftrotter (Member)

Hey,

What does http://blitz.io/ do?
Can somebody explains me?
Is it a free service?

Thanks.

10-31-2011 10:09 AM #21 andymin (Member)

Did the CPVLab upgrade late on Saturday, since then all the campaigns I'm running through it are showing maybe 10% of what is reporting on my traffic sources. Something seriously screwed up with the last update.

benchmark a server or vps performance by giving an url to benchmark, so you know where to troubleshoot if there is an issue

So you're losing 90% of your clicks?

10-31-2011 01:50 PM #24 tijn (Moderator)

any response yet from robert shank?

10-31-2011 01:57 PM #25 polarbacon (Moderator)

man this thread is awesome.....I have noticed cpvlab issues in the past even before this update.....but never as much as some guys are reporting now....

and brock awesome tests......

I've been working with the op in our support system for a few days trying to help him figure it out. We ruled out DNS and Server from our end thus far.

10-31-2011 07:23 PM #27 getzlaf15 (Member)

i noticed a few campaigns get 3-4 conversions for each clickid, any reason why this would happen? I thought each click was unique.

10-31-2011 09:27 PM #28 danny27 (AMC Alumnus)

So looks like there is an update for this.

got this reply too.

so we all have to contact Robert to get the updated files or will he have an upgrade in the near future?

11-01-2011 12:45 AM #31 danny27 (AMC Alumnus)

When the tracking link is called, it stops and doesn't redirect to level 2. Anyone?

11-01-2011 01:48 PM #32 tijn (Moderator)

I havent had this issue cause im still running the prev version, but I was helping topgun out a day or so ago and he had the same problem. Click on lander / or directlink and then it would not redirect to the offer and get stuck on base2.php

11-07-2011 09:12 PM #33 getzlaf15 (Member)

So the issues were just timezone?

Or does it not track correctly.

Same here, but only if I click the test link. With the normal campaign link everything is working. Strange...

11-21-2011 12:39 AM #35 harrypotter (Member)

any new development with this cpvlab problem?

11-21-2011 01:11 AM #36 ibanez (Member)

I would like to know also if this was just a timezone issue, timezone is abit fckup for me also, but thats nothing major. I know that test button is not working always for landing pages for me and few other people.

11-21-2011 01:18 AM #37 danny27 (AMC Alumnus)

yup test link don't work still for me. timezone - didn't have much a problem there yet.

11-21-2011 05:38 AM #38 getzlaf15 (Member)

I stopped using it for now, and was just using the newest prosper version.

Waiting on word..

Would be nice to have a setting to have it always goto the offer url, I know you want to protect stuff, but giving us the choice would be nice.

11-21-2011 09:47 PM #39 repsolracer (Member)

Had a major issue too. cpvlab had 900 clicks to the offer registered and when i checked the network only 174.

So everyone here is using prosper now?

11-23-2011 03:52 PM #40 harrypotter (Member)

reporting back on this issue:

my question to support:

I am looking to purchase but I have heard that new cpvlab is not functioning correctly... I have been following in a forum and here are problems being encountered:

"I read on another forum about similar issues with CPVLab's latest version"

"Had a major issue too. cpvlab had 900 clicks to the offer registered and when i checked the network only 174. "

"Also , CPVLab didn't track ( lost ) 1412 clicks while P202 for some odd reason over-tracked 35 clicks."

"Did the CPVLab upgrade late on Saturday, since then all the campaigns I'm running through it are showing maybe 10% of what is reporting on my traffic sources. Something seriously screwed up with the last update. "

Can you let me know if you guys have figured out the problem?

Thank you very much!
got an answer from robert this morning:
Yes...that's only for extremely high volume users, which we are working on this as we speak by adding a caching system, shared mysql queries and database cleanup utilities.

The goal is 3K to 5K queries per second as long as you have the hardware/server, CPV Lab will be able to handle virtually anything. We'll have this update out in the coming week.

But again, this isn't affecting the majority of our users. If you're sending more than 500,000 visitors a day you may notice this...but we'll have the updated files out soon.
case closed? good news for everyone

11-28-2011 06:13 PM #41 tijn (Moderator)

Thanks for posting it harry!

11-29-2011 08:34 AM #42 harrypotter (Member)

no problem.

lol... hit the green thanks button i am............... just.............. 5............... away from breaking 100

this "thanks" system sure works and motivates people to help and contribute

(anything you measure will improve, right?)

02-03-2012 05:39 PM #43 chilliflakes (Member)

reviving this thread again instead of posting new one.

In POF......the POF site reports about 85 clicks but cpvlab reported 10% less. I was glued to system and could see pof reporting links but nothing being showed up in cpvlab.

not this does not require high volume test because these 85 are spread over day.

any insight would help. Meanwhile i would report to robert too.

02-04-2012 08:37 PM #44 BeyondHosting-Tyler (Member)

We had the newest update files hit our support desk this past week I've not heard any positive of negative feedback on it yet...

Have issue too.
It struck at base2.php with blank page.

The Test Link redirects for the offer have never worked (disabled on purpose) - it's set up as the standard operation to avoid counting them in stats.

Strange way of doing it and I'm sure they get hundreds of support requests about it with people concerned that the standard redirects aren't working.

In any case, it's not an issue.

To make sure offer redirects are working you have to use the real links. I do this before any campaign and then click reset to eliminate the clicks.

03-31-2012 08:09 PM #47 veneficuz (Member)

I too have been up and down with CPV. One thing its so fricking easy, another is I usually do better direct linking, sales wise. Is it because cpv lab uses cookies to track, and reoccurring(a bookmarked sale the next day) are lost? maybe it's time for prosper.

05-04-2012 04:42 PM #48 mrlv (Member)

Sorry to bump an old thread but anyone update CPVLab to v2.14 and is it working properly I'm still on v2.13 and wanted to know if theres any problems before updating

05-04-2012 05:48 PM #49 novad (Member)

Hey guys, got an email from Robert about the update and the 2.15 will be ready in about a week. So keep sending bugs to him and his team, we should get a decent product.

Message to Robert : what about designing a new ergonomic and 2.0 interface for CPVLab?

05-04-2012 06:06 PM #50 sqallpl (Member)

2.15 will be ready in about a week.
Whats the actual version? I can see that 2.13 is the newest available in their user panel.

Hi Ackbar 22000,

How are you testing your campaign? Make sure you take your campaign URL that CPV Lab creates and paste it in your browser and click through that way. When you click on 'test link' it only pulls up your landing page and not your offers, this was done intentionally to prevent test click from showing in your stats. Try that out and let me know if it works.

If you are testing it that way and it still doesn't work, go ahead and submit a support ticket.

Hi Guys,

could someone tell me how to update the cpv labs software?

Also, we have 2 pdf's and 1 video explaining the 'HOW TO' does anyone know if there are any other videos that we can watch to work out how to set up and use cpv labs?

Would really appreciate some help with this.

Cheers

Rick

05-31-2012 11:53 AM #54 ecpm (Member)

Oh yeah...also if there is not anymore video tutorials for cpv labs, what other tracking software is there that is simple to set up and solid?

And could you use both cpv labs and another tracking software together or would they spoon out (cause problems) with one and other?

Cheers

Rick

Hi Rick,

We've received your PM but it seems like we can't send a response until we have 10 posts, so I'll post the response here:

We actually have more PDF's located on page 81 of the User Guide:
http://cpvlab.com/forusers/User_Guide.pdf

Also, the rest of the user videos are located within your instance of CPV Lab. Check out this knowledgebase article that will show you where to find the rest of the user videos: http://thelabhelpdesk.com/knowledgebase.php?article=28

If you need anything else, please submit a help desk ticket to thelabhelpdesk.com and we can help you further.

Thanks,

Samantha

I was able to nail this down, yes I'm using the real url not the test link, sometimes you'll have to clear your cookies or you will have a blank page on base2.php.
Returning users are the problem, you loose click from users that were on your LP couple days before.

08-22-2012 04:37 PM #59 ackbar22000 (Member)

Am I the only one loosing clicks from Lander to offers ?
Sometimes, one out of 10 I see this in my log :
"GET /base2.php?id=1 HTTP/1.1" 302

But nothing go to the network.
Support did not help, sent me an update about big volume optimization, but I'm talking low volume here....
