Mobile Pops follow along, newbie (9)

Mobile Pops follow along, newbie

Following the blog advice on charlesngo.com saying that pops are great for newbies, I launched one or two campaigns.

MESSED UP PRETTY BAD.

Network: Mobidea
Traffic sources: PropellerAds, PopAds
Tracker: Voluum

Procedure:

I set up my Voluum with all the networks and sources, launched the offer with PopAds.

I used the offer's pre-made banners as a landing page, uploaded the iframe to Amazon S3 and copied that URL into the traffic source "URL" box.

YES... I did it wrongly the first time, didn't track my visits AT ALL on voluum for the first two days. That's why my Voluum only shows 15 visits for the Popads campaign.

Looked at it again today and facepalmed. Oh well... at least I got my first ever conversion today.

Ooh lol

Went around the interwebs asking for help, eventually managed to set the Voluum up properly.

I also launched the same offer with PropellerAds, bid wayyyyyyy too high ($7 CPM) for the offer payout ($0.34).

I was anxious because the Popads one only had 17 clicks after 2 days ._. Now I know it's because direct linking has a lower CTR.

Should really be happy that anybody converted at all, it's like throwing shit at the wall and having it stick.

Burnt $40 in an hour, which was my daily budget for the PropellerAds campaign.

At this point I realised that I flubbed up really bad so I paused all my campaigns.

Talked to my AM at Mobidea, he advised me to use landers instead of whatever I was doing at the moment. Feel really stupid now

Next course of action:

I'm going to find some landers, whether using Adplexity or on the forum or otherwise.

I'll brainstorm two angles for mobile content and try this offer again. Five landers on each angle.

Anything else in particular I should be doing?

Looking forward to this! Good luck with it mate! Each mistake you make, closer you are to achieve your goals, keep going.

I'm still pretty new to running camps as well, but one thing I learned is that the bid price doesn't necessarily correlate to the offer payout. Every situation is different, but in this one for example, the offer would need to convert about 21 times per 1000 impressions to be in the green at $7 CPM -- a 2.1% CVR. Of course, this doesn't mean that the offer you are running will convert like this, but its plausible that an offer of this payout could! Bid prices will vary according to what others are able to make profitable for that GEO/targeting, among other things.

Here's a screenshot of some stats for a $0.34 payout offer doing even better than that, for example

llamapilot good to see you take action.

We will be able to help you more if you share your GEO and Vertical with us.

They both have a huge leverage, means if you're operating in the wrong ones you can have a hard time.

If you're operating in a big GEO, try to get a basic black / whitelist from a traffic source rep or other affiliate.

Focus on finding a great offer for your GEO, that will make or break your campaign.

Don't spend too much time with your lander, it only needs to be good enough.

So instead of testing 5 landers and 1 offer, test 1-2 landers from key players and test 5 offers recommended by AMs or that you see other guys running.

Hello Sebastian, thanks for the advice.

I've been looking at your blog and YouTube, a lot of useful info there.

The vertical is mobile content, and the GEO is Brazil.

I've been messing around with the free landers on STM, think this is taking too much time. Gotta go rip some landers off adplexity.

Update:

Attempted to use unbounce for my landers.

http://unbouncepages.com/app-emprego2/

Made this and another one very much like it.

Looks really messed up on desktop, gotta look at it on mobile to see it properly.

The words mean: Get a job today, all the job vacancies, upload your resume, exclusive tips, try. (I think)

I actually made two more using the mobile lander template on STM, but the images were too large. Took the feedback from my AM and didn't launch those two.

Testing the offer right now with popads bid 0.0005 cpm and the two landers I made + direct linking. Will see tomorrow.

Hey my friend.

For mobile pop or desktop pop campaigns do not use services like unbounce.

Fastest way to get traction is to rip landers, host them on a CDN and test.. Or you could create your own basic html landers but you will have to test alot more to find what works. You can also use www.upwork.com to hire a cheap web developer to help you with either method.
