Can't decide on tracking platforms

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice on which tracking platform.

They all seem to be pretty expensive for someone starting out. All the videos i've been watching have been based on prosper202 which now charges monthly. The most recommended ones seem to be Voluum and Thrive.

Both start at $99.00 per month.

My setup is as follows:

Basically i have one massive content based site (which gets 50,000 visits from SEO) which im looking to add tracking (mostly promotes clickbank products) but i'm also looking to run Bing PPC campaigns and direct link to clickbank campaigns, setup other sites for affiliate stuff aswell.

Any idea which way to go?

Also anything cheaper which i should consider on the market currently?

Cheers.

Is self hosted an option for you? Or does it have to be a managed/cloud hosted solution?

Voluum and once you get a big scale, build your own!

Nice follow up

Yeah, that was my point. If self-hosted is an option, you can include Funnel Flux in your options, and then you have low costs on the tracker side, but you have to scale your hosting efficiently. It costs less but it requires more time. The more localized your website is, the less time it needs though, since you don't have to scale your infrastructure globally.

You won't get anything too cheap though, less than $99/month; consider this though... If your business can't afford $99/month for tracking is it really a worthwhile business? There's a big contradiction here.. massive content website and then tracking for $99/month is expensive...

Yeah your right, I'm happy to pay but want to keep expenses low if I can. I notice Adsbridge had a low price point, does anyone have experience with them?

I think Voluum is good for a beginner. It's very intuitive, and there's a lot of tutorials and follow alongs written with Voluum in mind. It's not the best there is, I feel the development has been kinda stagnant (i.e. vs other trackers), but it's good and it has enough features for someone just starting out.

If you're doing PPV/pops, your tracker costs will add up when you scale, but I wouldn't worry about it starting out.

The cost of a tracker is a cost of doing business. There are no good free solutions to my knowledge, and if there were you'd be handling the infrastructure yourself -- which is a pain -- and a less optimized infrastructure will cost you more in lost revenue and time wasted.

I use Voluum for content-driven sites. I set the campaigns up as direct linking and make a custom traffic source called organic in Voluum. That traffic source has two parameters, siteID (name of my site), and creative ID (assigned by banner rotating script in Wordpress, or added to the outbound link), then I set them up as direct linking. In that way I can rotate landers and similar offers, i.e. 3 different types/producers/offers of the same pill/product/whatever.

You can do a lot of this in Google Tag Manager for free, but it won't give you the banner rotation (which you can do in PHP obv.). I also like that I can send UK/US/AU/CA visitors to applicable offers in Voluum.

One more thing to consider: none of the current affiliate tracking options will really work well as SEO / organic traffic trackers for a larger site. They're intended to track paid ad campaigns, and won't work as well as something like Google Analytics for tracking visitor data, flows, bounce rates, etc within an SEO'ed site.

If you're not comfortable with using GA on your site, you could also use something like Piwik (although I believe that has scaling issues) or Clicky.

You can track Clickbank conversions with Google Analytics, although I don't know how well the implementation works: https://support.clickbank.com/hc/en-...ales-Reporting

If your looking for a budget friendly tracker that has good functionality try CPVLab to start out. No monthly fee as its self hosted and you can install it on an unmanaged VPS easily just Google "Install CPVLab v3 on an VPS with Virtualmin and Nginx".
When you have a solid income move on to the more expensive hosted trackers as featured here.

Why is the poll on here so extremely limiting? there's only two choices whereas there are at least 10 serious companies in this industry that deliver all more or less the same tracking capabilities.

I've been using prosper since it launched. After joining stm, I am trying both volumm and Thrive. I find both very complicated. For eg. The spy view in prosper alone gives you so much information. I've met people who make that face when I say I use prosper... but I would still vote for it.

If your budget is low you can checkout PixelK it got some very neat features that most of the big guys are still missing.

To agree with most people in the thread, Voluum is probably one of the most user friendly and easiest to integrate into for someone starting out. The base cost of $99 a month might seem like a lot to someone who is just starting out but look at it this way. You could spend hundreds and thousands on campaigns but if you are not optimizing or gathering data on which is and what is not working then you will never really be able to turn serious profits. This question is asked to me the most out of everything and my answer is always the same, tracking is a main key to success.

There are free tracking options like prosper202 or you can go with a cheaper option which would be ClickMagick. They have a 14 day free trial and their base plan is $12 per month but that is only for 10,000 clicks so i am not sure how much volume you are starting with but that could be an option as well link: https://www.clickmagick.com/pricing.cgi

Best of luck !
