What You May Not Have Know About Mobile Marketing

This is something I've figured out playing around trying my out of the box ideas...
It is nothing mind blowing but I figure I share it here for those who haven't tried this.

The majority of people obviously look at the current wap or mobile offers and just run those, but did you know many "web" offers are mobile optimized? There are also some easy SOI offers that aren't mobile optimized, but when displayed within certain devices they are still doable offers.

I'll give you some examples:

First screenshot is some decent numbers I pulled in this past July running a few of those daily deal offers. I ran them either via QR codes or mobile traffic, conversion rates were anywhere from 35-45% and at just pennies per click, my rev was pretty much pure profit.

Second example is a dating offer from NB. You won't find this in the mobile optimized category, it isn't but its a first page submit with little fields and with hot naked chicks on the lander, it makes conversions pretty easy:

Now before you go test out these types of offers on mobile, test the offer out using a mobile phone and be sure it displays okay and tracks the conversion.

There are some nice hidden gems out there.......

Do we have to check with our AM before running web offers on mobile? Not sure if it's against terms or something.

I would check for sure to cover your ass, but I have never had any objections.

How was quality on deal find? I've been having severe issues with them

Quality would be my only concern. All good if you're running through network(s) but if you're working direct and want to yield good results for advertiser I know that many deals just don't have good flows to monetize mobile.

A lot of mobile users barely use their PCs so even if you're making money on the front end doesn't mean the advertiser is.

Sounds good man. I know when capturing my own email leads on mobile, a lot of the addresses are messed up, but i quality has been good for you and youre getting paid, awesome. As russian said id imagine running direct could be an issue.

Well, I haven't had issues with quality. The only daily deal offer I had issues with was SwarmJam, everyone one else loved it and asked me for more.
But yeah so you don't get stiffed, always run by any new methods through your AM if your not sure, once approved, send some volume over a few days, wait and get some feedback.

Dating works great, never any quality issues. I run pretty much all my dating offers direct now. I've seen a higher conversion rate and to top it off better payouts, and I don't mean an extra dime or 2

So, to profit at 0.03 EPC you must get like 1c clicks. Are you running all this with your "overrun strategy"?

10-16-2011 10:28 PM #10 dudeman79x (Member)

Yeah pretty much. I mean I'm not JUST focused on overrun. You see you can gather some really good stats once you've run some good volume and the run a report and find out what carriers and devices are giving you $0.xx epc and then run some optimized campaigns with those targets you've found, then run them on JT to scale up more.

What phone types are you targeting?
I have read that iPhones lose all the conversions because of its technology and the rest 20%-30% of conversions.
Are you targeting Android, iPhone, Feature, Blackberry for non-mobile offers?
Are you targeting all the phone screen sizes for such offers or only big ones?

Could someone explain me please what SOI & DOI stands for?

SOI = Single Opt-In
DOI = Double Opt-In

With SOI the user only has to complete the email field in the merchant's form.

However, with DOI a confirmation link is emailed to the user, which they must then click on in order to verify a) their email address is legit b) they agree to sign up to the offer.

DOI entails more work and so is usually a higher payout to the affiliate.

HTH

Combo beat me to it while I was typing this.
